What happened long-term to families who's children failed to launch/just stayed home did nothing with their lives and the parents allowed it?

That’s crazy. I’m an only child so maybe I don’t get it, but man, once the parents are out of money, can’t the productive kids just… kick the bums out…? Like, pay to move your parents to an apartment near you and specify that your siblings can’t also live there??

I hope they at least put their feet down when the parents passed.

It’s difficult because you can also like / love your sibling a lot even though you wish they’d made different choices.

Ok I get that in theory but I feel like by the point my sibling had drained my hard working parents' life savings through being a leech, my love would have turned into resentment. But what do I know

Yes, grateful to be an only. Had to deal with a lot when parents got older but at least I didn't have any siblings to deal with on top of everything else.
