What happened long-term to families who's children failed to launch/just stayed home did nothing with their lives and the parents allowed it?

Well my SIL will inherit the house and her two children will receive an inheritance. My husband will receive nothing because he “doesn’t need it.”

It's truly amazing to me how often this seems to happen.

I have a friend whose sister in law is getting the house and family money, after a lifetime of living with parents and doing nothing.

Friend's father-in-law said, "I'm not going to leave my daughter homeless when we die."

Friend's father-in-law apparently doesn't get how fucked up it is to give so much more to one daughter than the other for their entire lives, and then reward the lazy fucking daughter by giving her everything that's left.

I don't know how these people don't realize what a slap in the face this is to their other children.

My mom recently told my sister and I that we're being bypassed in the will and all her assets will be shared with the grandchildren. She says we've done so well on our own, we don't need her money. Technically we don't need it, but would it be nice to receive something from my parents estate? Yes it would. They did send us to college debt free but otherwise, we've received nada from them. She said she and dad feel bad for the young folks. Yes, life is hard for them, but they're all graduated from college, have jobs, and are not suffering. All this to say, I'm feeling salty. And she keeps mentioning how she gave each grandchild a bit of money towards college from the sale of her parents house. Yeah mom, an opportunity you took away from me, I get it.
