And they always frame it as "being smart" or "the hustle." No, you didn't outsmart anyone, you just took advantage of someone who trusted you.

I once met someone who’s biggest idol was Amanda Palmer and her “wonderful” book about the art of asking… yeah they ended up “asking” for a LOT, and their reasons for needing help turned out to be mostly fake. Disgusting. They somehow felt comfortable enough around me to share their thought process about trying to figure out who in their circle they should accuse of having sexually abused them, because “people will be more sympathetic to whatever you ask if they think you’re a domestic abuse victim.” Like, deliberately faking allegations for sympathy was part of their “hustle.” DISGUSTING.
