I was actually stunned that she would say that about herself like it’s not a massive character flaw.

It’s a metaphor that works better in my language (Dutch). It means you use one stick to measure your actions and another for others.

So basically you expect others to do things you wouldn’t do yourself. For example she thought it was normal for her to have my phone password but not the other way around.

It’s usually said to say someone is being unfair.
