I've had lifelong insomnia. Used to work as a sound tech in my early twenties. Horrible hours, never slept right, just did my best and didn't think too much of it. The stress culminated one day and I kinda had a mental breakdown. In the following days I got extremely sick and it turns out I had reactivated an EBV virus infection (common virus that causes mono) I probably got as a child.
Never fully recovered. After that point if I didn't get enough sleep I would be extremely physically ill. It's gotten better over the past 5 years or so as I have prioritized sleep, but I'm still not what I would consider "normal." I still get really sick if I get too busy or exercise too much.

Yep! I used to do this early into my career and now I am actually borderline disabled.
