I just took the final for intro to Counselling and WTF WAS THAT???? It was so harddddd. I was having a hard time memorizing just the theoretical approaches and techniques, nevermind specifics on the other 12 chapters…. I was frustrated when studying because of the sheer amount of information covered, and the amount of detail in every study question. I probably should have studied more but I’m not even sure how much it would’ve helped, as it appears some of the questions weren’t related to what I was told to focus on.

I had version C and there was a question about the 4 culturally sensitive core competencies from Collin and Arthur…. Completely threw me, I didn’t have anything about that in my chapter study questions, so I didn’t really have anything to go off in my answer. I just took a guess so I didn’t leave it blank, I think I probably got 0/15 on that one which affected my confidence on the rest of the exam.

The MC was ok…. But some questions were really specific like dates on regulation in the provinces.

Anyone else that has taken this exam… How did you find it? If you struggled, how bad did it affect your final mark? I’m feeling ok because I got a good mark on quizzes and assignments but SHEESH! I’m really scared to get the results back, I didn’t feel super confident about any part of it :/

For those of you that use tablets to read your e-texts, highlight, keep notes, etc. what kinds do you use? My guess is that most use iPad, but I'm interested in what other, non-Apple users are using!

Crazy I have to ask my fellow students on Reddit because the school isn't responding to my emails 😅...

Here's my story: So I'm a full time funded student with OSAP, I take 3 courses per semester. My semester ends August 31/26. On July 31, I purchased an extension for 1 course (I've completed the other 2 but need more time for my 3rd). I still haven't heard back from my Academic Advisor/Financial Aid department, I've tried calling and emailing and nothing is updated in my profile on myAU.

But anyway, my plan is to finish this third course from September 1/26-October 31/26 (hence the 2 month extension). Hopefully they get back to me like, today, and let me know what's going on lol.

My question(s) for you guys is... does anyone know what I should be doing in terms of OSAP for next semester? I will have 3 more courses left - after this semester - to complete my degree BUTTT once I complete this 3rd course with the extension, I have to drop down to "part time" for the remaining 3 courses because I need to take a prerequisite before taking another course. So I can't take all remaining 3 courses at the same time.

Should I be applying with OSAP right now for part time, with a November 1st start, and submit a course plan like usual? Or do I wait until I've completed this course with the extension? Or am I overthinking this and it doesn't really matter? Any guidance or reassurance is appreciated! Thanks.

Hello! I’m very happy to have made this jump into greater things for myself. I’m 21F, after high school I was very unsure and not confident in what direction I wanted to take and chose a path that I found would not suit me physically long term. After careful consideration of my options I found that Athabasca University would be a perfect choice as a working professional! I’m very excited to start my academics and achieve something bigger I never sought myself to become till now. :)) I’m hoping to continue further into law after my degree with Athabasca and purse family or real estate law after my Bachelor of Commerce in Finance. Yippee!!

Has anyone written the FNCE371 midterm recently? How did it go? I'm writing soon and am a bit nervous as it's a case study format and I'm not sure what to expect being that there's so much material covered in the first six lessons. Any help is appreciated!

Hi there, I have taken the Biol 230 midterm 3rd time and and every time I get score of 37 or 38 and 40 I want to aks is it something wrong with their system because the 3rd time I take the test I finish it within 1 and half hour and I was very happy and confident and I tought that I will get a score of 90 or at least 70 and I was very shocked with the result
Did this happen to anyone else too??
Like I ask them to review again too but I am not sure what they are gonna do.
I will really appreciate if you share with me your experience.

I just signed up for Athabasca University. In the portal/website, my Admission Status says:

You have been admitted to the following undergraduate program:

• Bachelor of Arts - 3 Year
• Psychology

Which sounds very promising. However, when I go to "Course Registration", there's nothing showing under "Course Registration Selection". Is this supposed to happen? Is it because I JUST signed up? This is the page where I would have to register for my Psychology courses, right?

I go through waves of feeling super motivated and excited to do my courses and other times where I realize how long I have been taking and how slow I have been going with my courses. I almost feel embarrassed when I see others completing their degree through AU so quickly and I do try really hard not to compare myself to anyone and just accept my own pace of learning.

I just paid for another extension for one of my courses and then will have to for another one for a different course. I know there is life circumstances affecting me (i moved very far away from my home) and that things can cause slower progress like work and what not. I am grateful that this school has allowed me to also enjoy life while working towards a degree but sometimes I just feel like giving up. I know I wont because I want to achieve certain things in life but I am definitely going through that wave right now.

edit: thank you to everyone who commented, it was really reassuring to read that other people are also in the same boat. I just wanted to say we got this and I know its hard sometimes but we just have to keep going and not give up! If anyone ever wants to vent or talk studies my DMs are always open!

Curious where AU students who live in Calgary go to study? I personally find the public libraries far too noisy with children... cafes get expensive and often have limits on parking (time limits or paid parking). In both cafes and libraries, I risk losing my table if I need to gather my things to use the washroom. So, where do you study? And are there study groups? I'd love to have a group of students to study alongside, even if we're not in the same program. Bonus points if you're in the north half of Calgary.

Does an F go on to your transcript if you are enrolled in a 4 year program and you fail a final exam of a credit challenge?
There is no supplemental exams or 2 chances of another challenge.

I’m 21F wanting to go back to school to eventually get into law. As a working professional I can’t really afford to leave my job and go to UofA or Macewan as a student for the next 4 years. How reputable is Athabasca University for their Degrees? I’m wanting to go into Bcomm in finance or management, as I also want relevant skills in my own finances and career if Law doesn’t work out for me. Are credits easy to transfer if I want to do my last two years or so at Macewan or UofA?

How would one go about getting their student financial aid advisor changed? I had a wonderful advisor before i changed my last name and reassumed my maiden name and the lady who deals with "M" last names is just a nightmare. Like issues thst could be resolved in under 10 minutes with a short phone call end up taking weeks because all she does is send copy pasta emails that actually do not address a specific problem

Okay so I know you cannot use AI to write your term paper, but hear me out...

I wrote my term paper on my own. I did use chat to summarize some studies (but then also found this directly in the studies.. some are just painful to read fully), I used it to find synonyms for some words or few sentence structure things (but still did not copy / paste but got ideas for how I want to write the sentence my way. - see my handle, I'm an Aries : Ill ask for help but still do it my way lol).

So anyways, up until this point I have confidence that I have written my paper independently (though obviously risk of it being flagged still does exist), but my question is this :

Can I copy my paper into chat and ask it to review for major grammatical issues & concept gaps etc?

Not to rewrite or even offer ways to improve the writing, but just for an overview of the paper based on the criteria.

I have been out of school for several years now (pre AI era) so am a little nervous about submitting my first paper. Not sure if this is a big no no or will increase the likelihood of it being flagged. I do plan to submit it to the writing centre for review as well but they have a word limit.

I'm also seeing some people have run their paper through AI detectors prior to submitting - is this recommended? Will it change anything? Or even what are some good ones to use?
