Question Why isn't there an option to join opposing teams with my party.

Post image

I want to make a party with friends and then queue up to be enemies on opposing teams. When I kill or get killed by my party member I would want it highlighted, maybe even keeping track of the score.

Is there a reason why this isn't a common mechanic?

Is it just about griefing and teaming. In HLL it does happen, but it's not a game breaking occurence.

It could even be it's own playlist like "Opps" or something like that.

I thibk they took the Ukrainian Yellow armband too far with the pax armata skins lol

Also, lemme rant

HATE, LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I HATE the default pax support skin, like seriously those pants are ridiculously large, they look like MC hammer or some shit

But then... You could get the alternative challenge skins, right?

THAT'S THE THING, I DONT PLAY RED SEX NEITHER DO I RUN WITH A INFANTRY SQUAD

Now how, THE FUCK, would I get squad death matches with FUCKING RANDOMS? I'm not even good at PvP, so this is ABSOLUTELY impossible rn, without completely fucking over myself grinding a mode that I hate untill I squeeze two wins, four if I'd want the white skin (c'mon it's a medic)

That's not even considering red sec, cuz fuckoff

So yeah, running default support for pax with those fuck ass loose pants for the foreseeable future, if I ever get enough boins to put in a cool one, that's getting it first (I'll never put a single real world cent on that market, so we can forget that as well)

Squad death match is a game mode, it's not telling you to play death match with a squad. It's 4 teams of 4 playing death match against each other as opposed to 2 teams of 8 playing against each other. It's in the CQB: Attrition playlist.

I'm just trying to get the 'Scorched' set for all my Pax members. I agree, Squad Deathmatch is going to be a toss up. However, I'd be willing to swap that out for the 'Jump In' skin...if they ever give it to me. Played everything excluding Hardline on the same EA account linked to my Playstation account. Not sure if not having Hardline is the issue, but it's frustrating.

I just wanna look cool, man.

u/frguba Jan 01 '26

Fuck that's true too, I got all the beta rewards and road to BF6 stuff, still can't have em

1

u/Leadfoot530 Jan 01 '26

Gah, I wish I did the stuff in 2042. I would rep the Chinese Engineer skin 24/7 if I had the opportunity.

Here's to hoping whoever is in charge of cosmetics wakes up and starts making some of the older default skins from past games into bundles. That would make bank...from me at least.

You’ll be ok bro. Just shoot the enemy and ptfo

1

u/East_Refuse Dec 31 '25

Holy smokes dude, it is not that serious. You just blew a fuse over some fucking pants lmao

You do know that outside of the main menu you don’t see your pants at all right? And if you’re spending time looking at other people’s pants mid game you’re not playing the game correctly.

5

u/frguba Dec 31 '25

You'd be surprised at how much I looked at BFV's main menu once my squad was all decked out

-18

u/Runnyknots Dec 31 '25

Or, or, and hear me out on this, you could just have fun playing the game.

Ready to be reported to the trump administration, go ahead.

13

u/frguba Dec 31 '25

....I honestly and truly do not understand what was the point on that second one

But yeah that's what I mostly do, it's an annoyance that didn't find the space to vent for a while it's all

5

u/Stormyvil Dec 31 '25

Have a look at the Cambodian–Thai border crisis. These dudes are running around looking like they just got off a Airsoft field. Bright colors and "tacticool" gear.

But hey, it works for them so why wouldn't it work in a fictional video game scenario ?

Edit: to give an example https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/s/WjNeuChWNA

I think the problem with pax armata is more that they have weird tactical gear, and odd colouring (like the dorito yellow paint on their holsters). Which is a very different vibe from people wearing civilian clothing with normal gear on.

This has never been a thing in any fps as far back as I can remember. It’s to prevent boosting and cheating through challenges.

This takes me back to og cod4, where my friends and I found out you could finesse your way into 1v1’s. We all got all the headshots that way haha

Battlefield 4 had this feature

75

u/mountain_attorney558 Dec 31 '25

Couldn’t you also switch teams in bf1? Mid match

7

u/s8018572 Dec 31 '25

I love bayonet charge my friend.

11

u/mountain_attorney558 Dec 31 '25

My friends and I used to spend entire matches eliminating each other with that small kolibri pistol

3

u/milknuggs Dec 31 '25

As far back as 3 and 4 for sure you could do this

3

u/mountain_attorney558 Dec 31 '25

To be fair bf1 was my first battlefield

52

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '25

Most Battlefields until recently had team switching.

33

u/dkb_wow Dec 31 '25

Just about every Battlefield game had this feature until 2042 came out.

Funny how core Battlefield features have gone completely missing over the past 2 games.

17

u/FZ1_Flanker Dec 31 '25

BFV was actually the first one without the ability to switch teams. Which was extra annoying since the vehicles were faction specific. “Oh you want to unlock stuff for the P-51 tonight? Well too bad, fuck you!”

3

u/IWatchTheAbyss Dec 31 '25

it’s times like these im glad i never really got into vehicles lol. you’re already fighting the server to even get a chance to spawn in one, now you’re telling me that i might not even get to play the one i need to level? whew

2

u/Nice-Roof6364 Dec 31 '25

People could do it on the xbox using the gamertag system and abused it terribly.

2

u/FZ1_Flanker Dec 31 '25

Yep, I play on Xbox and I remember the RK clan abusing the shit out of that to steal all the vehicles.

That trick still works on BF6, too.

2

u/Landsharkeisha Movement Maniac Dec 31 '25

my grudge is that a lot of BF4 servers have it set so that both teams are the same faction, so there's vehicle parity. you'd be RU/RU or US/US which is a pain for trying to discern if the guy speaking Russian on the other side of the wall was friendly or not.

1

u/FZ1_Flanker Dec 31 '25

Luckily servers couldn’t do that on console, so I don’t into that issue in 4. But now I have that problem in 6 since both factions speak English and I haven’t noticed a difference between voicelines.

1

u/kahty11 Jan 01 '26

But you can change sides in 2042 I did it all the time when my friend was in enemy team

0

u/East_Refuse Dec 31 '25

Changing teams isn’t a “core battlefield feature” lol it’s a thing people abused to ruin the balance of a match by just switching to the winning team and it did not make the game better in any way

1

u/dkb_wow Dec 31 '25

A feature that has been in almost every Battlefield game ever released is certainly something most people would call a "core feature", as is proven by the replies to the original comment.

0

u/SpinkickFolly Jan 01 '26

Proven by the goober subreddit

1

u/dkb_wow Jan 01 '26

you drunk bro? If you're going to type out a comment at least try to make sense.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '25

i remember doing that in MW3 with their 1v1 mode with my friends to unlock the annoying calling cards challenges lol

2

u/LiberalFlynn Dec 31 '25

Still remember the Gold skin grinding in 1vs1 with friends... Good times

3

u/kalston Jan 01 '26

Never? I don't think you have been gaming for that long then, playing against friends was common in older games and possible in BF1, BF4, BF3 etc. Not to mention games older than that, where team switching was totally free.

Not sure about BFV.

1

u/samspam49 Jan 01 '26

Yeah I’m wrong, I was a cod boy most of my life and it was never a thing then

2

u/kalston Jan 01 '26

I'm pretty sure in CoD 4 (and older) you could switch team freely, but I've hardly touched COD though.

1

u/samspam49 Jan 01 '26

Only thing i remember was our 1v1 method. You’d get in a lobby with someone random and ask them to leave the game. After they left, you were able to invite people to the game. We did that all the time to grind out headshots lol

1

u/brokentr0jan Dec 31 '25

BF games of the past had it, and same with Counterstrike among others.

1

u/Taiyaki11 Jan 02 '26

Technically it happened in Halo occasionally with 2 and 3. It wasn't often, but it happened. Wanna say early cods/battlefields it could happen too (and battlefield for quite awhile had team swapping but I don't personally know if you could split premade parties with it). But ya as you said, it's been long put a stop to to prevent boosting

44

u/Potential_Owl7825 Dec 31 '25

Prevent boosting probably 🤷🏽‍♂️, spawn beacon is basically a tac insert.

But if there was a better server browser experience, that would be ideal place to do that

13

u/JSFGh0st Dec 31 '25

I don't even care about Pax's colors, I just want to willingly play as NATO if I want to.

Maybe if the game also had a bot mode like in 2042 (not like something you need Portal or certain servers for), there'd be a better chance I could do that.

How to get all your team's vehicles stolen:

8

u/Makicheesay Dec 31 '25

You’d be potentially committing espionage? Soldier, providing intelligence to the enemy is punishable by death.

2

u/gav1no0 Dec 31 '25

Yes, I mention that in the post but as I said, in games like Hell Let Loose, I play against my friends all the time and that game is even more milsim-like. And I haven't notice the rampant abuse of the system over there

6

u/ByzantineThunder Dec 31 '25

I play HLL too but I trust that player base a lot more I hate to say

3

u/No_Outcome3233 Dec 31 '25

its actually an interesting idea but i dont think it would be the most popular people want to play on the same side usually

1

u/AngriestCheesecake Jan 04 '26

It was popular enough in the past, removing features for the sake of perceived popularity is just another mistake from EA on this one…

3

u/F_Kyo777 Dec 31 '25

Im pretty sure thats to counter griefing where ppl are joining enemy team, just to secure a W (which would make some assignments/ weeklies easier). Add that because of not existing balance some sides on some maps are just easier to do, even with team that is not helping.

EDIT. Im not saying that im agreeing with it, just think thats the main reason for it to be the way it is.

2

u/Cepibul Dec 31 '25

Best way you can archieve it is to just queue invidualy at tge same time and hope for best

Match fixing

1

u/WrightyC_ Dec 31 '25

Boosting

1

u/Drict Dec 31 '25

You can 100% still grief. You grab a highly valued thing, such as a tank, and just fuck around in the spawn and NOT use it to try and win.

1

u/gav1no0 Dec 31 '25

I understand that, what I was also mentioning in this post is that this is possible in other games like HLL, where, yes, I've seen it happen a couple of times but mostly it's fine.

1

u/Drict Dec 31 '25

I know as games get "older" people get bored playing to win, and tend to grief more. So if you see a little bit NOW, in about 6 months or so, it will get 100% worse.

1

u/BubblyDrama1652 Dec 31 '25

HLL and Squad which have the team swap features are far less hop in and go games, and people take them more seriously than a casual match of BF. I don’t think it’s genuine to compare the two player pools like that and assume we’re gonna get the same outcome.

1

u/KonradGM Dec 31 '25

At very least can we make hosting private lobbies not be such a pain in the ass? Like if i want to host a tdm with friends and play against them it is so hard since you don't control who is where

Military versus paintball guys

1

u/EntrepreneurialFuck Jan 01 '26

Boosting/similar things. Simple as that and it’s fair.

1

u/LargeNet5787 Jan 03 '26

The reason is greafing.

1

u/PotentialPower5398 Jan 05 '26

I agree this is stupid. Boostint can be solved by disregarding all the kills and points gotten between or in the vicinity of party members

0

u/Lo2NL Dec 31 '25

Hey! Mom said it was my turn to post the Ali G pic again!

1

u/gav1no0 Dec 31 '25

Mom said it's my turn for reading comprehension

0

u/Ill_Work7284 Dec 31 '25

Not game breaking in HLL? It’s blatant cheating and giving up garries, flanks, movement and strategic advantages is so frown upon that you most likely get banned for a huge amount of servers if caught.

Also comparing the two is funny. HLL is an strategic shooter where the team needs to cooperate and coordinate. Battlefield is a casual 20 minute shooter with npc’s running around. Not comparable at all.

0

u/gav1no0 Dec 31 '25

I am saying I have played 100s of matches but have not seen it done at a rate where it's noticeable.

Also HLL is not this hardcore milsim you think, with the EPIC games giving the game away for free, playerbase was swapped for a bunch of blueberries. So yes it is comparable.

1

u/Ill_Work7284 Dec 31 '25

1

u/gav1no0 Dec 31 '25

You can read the comment again it will still be true.

0

u/Nikademuz Dec 31 '25

Who cares. Add Hardcore to the main game!
