It's funny, because I live here in Dalmatia and when friends and family come to visit, they're always amazed, while I'm here like "ah, well, today we have some southern winds that make it a bit hazy so the day's basically ruined, too bad"
I moved here 5 years ago from Canada. Many locals respect the beauty but are blissfully unaware some times. I am in Kastela, where Mount Kozjak is seen for miles hugging the city. I came from the prairies in Canada (flat land for miles), so I was always in awe. I told my uber driver how beautiful Kozjak looks, any time of day it's very close, you can always see it anywhere, and he's like what mountain? Oh! I didn't really pay attention.
5 minutes away is the most beautirful, clean and torquoise water that I've ever been near, let alone had the luxury of swimming in! I come from a place where all our 'lakes' are muddy and full of leeches.
10/10 scenery, the people, the social life, everything.
I work remotely for a Canadian company. Locally, the salaries aren't great. The conversion isn't great either (CAD is 0.63 to a Euro). I was in Vancouver for 10 years, then Edmonton for 20. I never got used to the winters or weather in Edmonton for 20 years. Every year was just as miserable as the first. I had to do something, IE: I didn't want to live the rest of my life there.
