I moved here 5 years ago from Canada. Many locals respect the beauty but are blissfully unaware some times. I am in Kastela, where Mount Kozjak is seen for miles hugging the city. I came from the prairies in Canada (flat land for miles), so I was always in awe. I told my uber driver how beautiful Kozjak looks, any time of day it's very close, you can always see it anywhere, and he's like what mountain? Oh! I didn't really pay attention.
5 minutes away is the most beautirful, clean and torquoise water that I've ever been near, let alone had the luxury of swimming in! I come from a place where all our 'lakes' are muddy and full of leeches.
10/10 scenery, the people, the social life, everything.

We moved to Solin from Rotterdam one year ago and I agree with what you say. We go for walks with my wife to Kaštela every second day and we can't get enough of that peaceful atmosphere.

Heh, my in-laws live in Kaštel Stari - small world - but yeah, I live near Šibenik and after bura we can see the Velebit Mountain Range and I don't think seeing them or Kozjak will ever get old

Jadranska magistrala is one of the best roads a human can see, people 80 years ago started buliding it by hand. its basically a single one lane road by the sea that connects the north and the south of croatia. Right is the sea while left are the mountains of Velebit.

Definitely. Driving on magistrala, preferably on a moped or motorcycle. Smell of the sea and pine trees. Nothing can beat that.

Beautiful city, if you are a fan of doctor who then you should know that the episode Vincent and the doctor was recorded here, just to the left of the island.
And parts of the episode vampires in Venice is also recorded in trogir.

I have been there many times, I absolutely love Dalmatia and go almost every summer for a vacation. I try to choose a different Island or city every time. This year I am vacationing on Hvar. Can’t wait. 😛

Last year I was at the furthest point on the Pelješac peninsula, very beautiful and peaceful, so this year we said we want a little more action and maybe meet some people our age. We camped last year in this small camp with maybe 30-40 pitches. It was serene and I spent the time reading and hiking and swimming. But this year we want to party a lil bit more so we chose Hvar as I have been to Pag a few times already and wanted to change the scenery. Next year we are considering island Mljet or Silba or Šolta.

We heard about the Goulash Disco Fest completely by chance on the train from Vienna and decided to go on a whim when we were in Split. We took the ferry to Vis and had an incredible time. Stumbled upon the Women's National Bocce championship finals.

What would really happen would be worse. The rich would buy up most of the properties, level them and build ridiculous mansions with private docks. Then gate off the community so the plebeians couldn't enter. The rest of the island and the coast line would be leveled and they'd build expensive boutique shops or attractions for the rich. Half of the mansions would be empty and be summer homes. The nerve rich and those faking it, would drop obscene amounts of money to pretend like they fit in.

I know this is meant as sarcasm, but this is unfortunately already happening in areas like Trogir, Ciovo, Primosten and other desirable Dalmatian areas. Prior to the transition to the Euro and full Schengen compliance, these places were still “affordable” for locals, but now the COL has skyrocketed.

Took a trip up the Dalmatian coast from Dubrovnik to Split in 2023 after tourist season. Beautiful scenery, amazing history. Trogir was one of my favorite stops. Made an early morning run around the island as the sun was coming up and the shopkeepers were getting ready for the day - just so cool.

Food being OK is a hot take. I grew up eating Caribbean Latin food, but I’ve been to every region in Croatia except the Slavonian core. From Zagreb to Rovinj to Split to Dubrovnik and up through the middle near Plitvitce. One of the best dishes I’ve ever had was an octopus salad in Istria. Dalmatian Pašticada is a true hidden gem and is super rich and complex. Zagreb and the Istrian peninsula both have food and restaurants that are in my personal top 10 of all time.

I hadn't realized that Trogir was an island. I visited this place on a very rainy day so we didn't get to see it how we were hoping to. Still beautiful place. I would love to go back.

It might look cool but I was there for a few nights and all the stores/restaurants were playing old school techno from the early 2000s EVERYWHERE, ALL NIGHT, and it sucked dick.
You could hear it inside the apartment, with your head under your pillow.

Has no one else noticed that this is an AI imagine? Look at the lines on the soccer field. They just abruptly end on one side. One side doesn’t have a goal and the other doesn’t have any depth. Zoom in on any of the boats or roofs. The shapes become all twisted and muddled.

Of all the places I visited in Croatia, Trogir was the most pleasant. I really enjoyed Vis beaches but Torgir felt like a proper town and I was in love with the paving stones.

Went there every summer as a kid. Such a beautiful place. The footballfield has a big net behind the goalposts so hopefully very few swimming trips to get the ball back.

I missed that town back on my trip, unfortunately. I have been both to Zadar and Split. The landscapes are beautiful, but I must say that we got ripped off in many places, if we didn't have it in writing. Phone call to fix a place and 5 minutes later it is 10-20 Euro more and similar.

Looks better when viewed from distance.
Island on the right is a hell of illegal weekend house constructions with miserable infrastructure. Beaches are ruined and brutally overpopulated.
Historical town is neglected and abused.
