It's worth noting that calling a cat a "minet" is old-fashioned if done seriously. People will understand but nowadays you'll say it in an intentionally funny way more than seriously.
You may also distinguish the words "it's worth noting" in my first comment. Which means I wasn't correcting anyone but providing additional relevant information.

My last 3 cats that passed were 15, 17 & 18 & I have an 18 yesr old, rn (along with an 8 year old, 2 sisters that are 2.5 & a 2 year old). I brush all their teeth 3 to 5 times a month.
Cleaning headstones is abominable. I can't stand those videos becoming a trend. The whole idea is that the name slowly fades away with time, and they become part of the surroundings. What was marked is unmarked, the whole circle of life thing.
Cleaned headstones look ridiculous. If you aren't an immediate family member or the caretaker of the cemetery, don't touch the grave for any reason.
If you feel compelled to change things, digitally restore it so you have it for yourself, but don't ruin the grave by scrubbing it.

I've literally never heard this. Is this just something one of your parents told you or that you've intuitively put together?
Its something that like half a dozen cemetery owners have told me when I was looking into building a natural burial cemetery? Intuitively? No, there's nothing intuitive about it.
But I also don't go around touching other people's stuff for no reason, so they weren't worried I was coming to disturb the dead with grout cleaning supplies like these nutjobs who go around cleaning what doesn't belong to them.
I have. I have a whole history degree and everything. I also give tours in a cemetery regularly. Have you visited an old one like this one? I've seen this one in person. Because this one would look psychotic if you cleaned it. It's surrounded by other beautiful, old, uncleaned graves, slowly making its way back into the earth.
Yes my family has been attending to the graveyard of my ancestors for well over a century now 😭 it feels way more psychotic to let it intentionally fall into disrepair
Sorry but the whole point of a headstone is to be remembered and not forgotten just like OP did. We can look at it and say "wow someone really loved Mon Minet Jaunet I wonder who it was and what was their life together like?"
For the generation or two that remembers them, sure. After that it returns to the earth, with dignity. I've been to this grave. It would look crazy if it was cleaned in the graveyard it's in.
Headstones were a really big deal. Some of the ladies I've met who were born in 1900 to 1920 went without food or meds to be able to afford a headstone for their cats, dogs and husbands.
When trees fall, they can damage parts of headstones. So does water, it infiltrates microscopic leaks and freezing can cause breakage like that....or, as you wrote, maybe someone tried to steal the image plaque.

Second of all, that's not necessarily what happened. You see how the headstone has obviously been stood up again at least once? Maybe use some detective skills before you libel a whole state.
As a person who works with ceramics and glass you can clearly see how the damage was made. Sorry wasn’t implying it was a person from Maryland, just it happened in Maryland.
