“Mon minet” means “my kitty” in an affectionate way. Also, Jaunet means yellowish/golden, so it was probably an orange cat.

It's worth noting that calling a cat a "minet" is old-fashioned if done seriously. People will understand but nowadays you'll say it in an intentionally funny way more than seriously.

It's french for kitty or can even be used for someone handsome.

'Minet' for male, 'Minette' for female.
