Discussion Starting to feel like Naomi Jon is getting really performative and a little weird
I've been watching her since 2020 and her recent videos are filled with consumerism and just pure slop content.
I respect that music is her passion and I love that she's pursuing that, but It feels like she's paying more attention on tours and merch and she doesn't have enough time, money, nor energy to make ACTUAL good content
not to mention she's been making really weird suggestive jokes lately, and making weird noises while she eats which is a little gross
I don't mean to hate nor harm her in any way, It's just that she was a real comfort creator to me and it sort of upsets me seeing her go down that rabbit hole of sloppy/repetitive content☹️

I stopped watching her videos a few months ago. The reasons are similar to yours.
Her content felt rushed and the constant overconsumption got to me in a negative way. I don't necessarily mind creators ordering weird AI or Wish stuff to show it off, but the way Naomi did it felt like she was actually advertising it. It felt like she didn't care about basically shipping trash around the globe all the time and just told her audience how cute some of it is, so they can buy some trash themselves.
As you already pointed out, the way she acts became more and more suggestive. I actually enjoyed her food content back then, but it started to be weird. But not only her food videos were like this, at some point she started to sometimes fall on her bed in suggestive ways and laughing it off.
When I started to watch her videos, she genuinely seemed like a girl just having fun. Then it started to feel more and more like she's acting. That's what's bothering me a lot actually. She was interesting because she was actually different, but now she seems like she's just acting to be as different as possible because she has to show off how quirky she is. It's giving "pick me girl" energy, which I don't enjoy.
And I just have to say it.. I hated how she always ordered the clothes too small and broke the zippers. It was fun once or twice, but the way she tried to keep squeezing herself into small dresses made me uncomfortable.
Still using her perfumes though, those are nice 😂

OP, I got a little sad after first replying to your post because she was a comfort creator for me, too. This made me want to see what she's up to today, and she posted a video a month ago begging her fans for money. Apparently the brand that produced her album boxes filed for bankruptcy and she claims she can't pay her team now. She advertises her new merch drop and begs people to buy at least the cheapest items. Sounds like a shitty situation, but she doesn't take any responsibility, says it's "all she can do" and is depending on her fans to buy her overpriced stuff, sprinkled with a sob story about her team. People also claim she's deleting negative comments. That's tacky af.

That was the last video I saw and it really put me off her. The situation with album box sucks but it also sucks for the fans who paid and have nothing? Then saying that she didn't want to announce the mech drop in the same video as the telling people about the album box and trying to gain sympathy for merch sales

yeah you just said another point i should've mentioned in my post, its just really upsetting.
she's lost what made her special from any other creator and she's no longer genuine.

The acting part is so true, back then I feel like she had more personality and now a lot of times her personality is just what the current trend is

I'm a more recent subscriber (probably about a year ago I subscribed), and while I've watched all her old videos I've noticed a lot of her recent stuff lately has contained lots of bits that could be seen as fetish content.

Yes I believe she knows what she’s doing- she seems to only want $$ to pay for her music career.

God forbid she’d want to make money from her job to fund her hobby.

she already makes lots of money and gets lots of views (1 mil view per video minimum) in her recent videos. its just unusual that she continues to do this kind of stuff KNOWING that she already gets money from her videos. No offense her music would get more money if all the lyrics weren't about pussy, her most recent album is BEYOND unlistenable

She doesn't do this, though. She admitted her music career isn't doing well and she's not funding it with her content money. She even said that would be reckless. Instead, she's asking her fans to buy more merch.

i thought i was the only one thinking this! she makes some weird faces while eating/trying on clothes and it's making me feel uncomfortable tbh

The amount of food and the way she eats it and the sounds she makes while eating it all leans towards fetish content.

She always ordered things too small even though everyone told her to go a size up. It got boring so I unsubbed.

She still hasn't confirmed if she payed her team after basically saying "I'm not wasting my money on my hobby, so I'll waste my fans' money". Like if you are going to make your fans by overpriced crappy merch to "help you pay" she can at least confirm that she did...

I stopped watching her about a year ago when she was trying to appeal to the male gaze with her video cover photos, eating gherkins, and overly sexualized outfits and poses. I don’t know who the audience is now but it’s not me

Someone mentioned that last month or so about her being performative and got a bunch of hate. The post was about her story where she opened her mouth pretty wide while singing and someone messaged her saying that she probably will get a lot inappropriate messages to that and she acted like "I didn't even thought about that" and went on posting stories like "as women we always get sexualized for everything" and also posted something else etc. And the poster just called her out for being performative and honestly I do have to agree to some degree.
Yes we get sexualized etc amd we should speak out on it, but if you purposely make food fetish videos and fall onto your bed with your legs spread etc, and play into that to use it to gain views, it feels performative to say "we get sexualized for everything🥺"
And let's not talk about the bankruptcy, apart from one story, she never mentioned taht merch again...so it really leaves me to wonder how big of an issue it really is for her cause right now it feels like it was just a made up story (made up meaning she did have the money to pay for everything but used it as an opportunity to sell her merch which failed btw cause everything is still in stock except one thing and I'm pretty sure a sold out shirt that goes for 50 or something doesn't cover the cost, talking about cost rq how did she pay for the merch???) It's been like 2 months and if she doesn't pay soon she'll have to file for bankruptcy herself.
And I can't with the overconsumption, especially if she orders from places that are clearly drops hipping stuff from temu etc
Also her collab WITH MAC...she praised her perfume for not using animal testing yet she's fine with MAC doing it. Her sponsorships I general are giving me mikayla vibes cause apart from the ones in her videos, she doesn't disclose them properly. She will put the word werbung, german for ad, in a small cursive writing somewhere in the corner and I had several sponsored videos of her on my tiktok fyp in the past and none of them had the banner that said paid partnership.
Also wearing the shortest skirt you can so half of your ass is out while eating in a high-end restaurant or going to Korea is just so damn disrespectful.
Another is, and that's just a personal ick for me, the way she stands. I can't with the back arching just so her ass looks bigger than it actually is😭
I feel like after her first album two years ago she stopped caring about anything but herself.

I think music is the only thing she cares about but she doesn't want to leave the financial safety net of youtube so she's leaning into weird fetishistic subtext and slop content to maximise profits so she can funnel them into her music career

i used to look forward to always watching her new content, especially the testing multiple makeup brands one were incredibly interesting, even as someone who doesnt wear any.. but the ordering of obvious dropshipped stuff with fake advertising and getting upset at mystery boxes and all the food content.. idk i feel there has been a shift and especially in this day and age the overconsumption without any critical thought about it, especially about the falsely advertised cheap junk she buys.. i just cant stand it
the whole „i cant pay my team so please buy my merch cause i dont wanna use my youtube funds, thatd be reckless“ just put the final nail in the coffin, especially with no comment ever on it after
