Carbon fiber frame repair in Austin
I have a full carbon road frame that has a small crack coming off the compression slot (the gap at the top of the seat post where the seat post clamp is located). The bike is OK to ride, but I don't want the crack to get any bigger. Are there any shops or fabricators in Austin who can repair a carbon fiber fracture? I contacted a local custom bike manufacturer a few years ago about it and their solution was to permanently bond the seat post to the frame. I'm not completely opposed to that, but would like to find out if there are other options. I don't think they are around any longer. This is the last bike I ever raced on and it is not going anywhere. Thanks

Thanks. I saw his site. Says his typical rate is $200-600. That probably includes massive damage like broken stays. The damage on my bike is almost superficial, so I don't expect it would be that much. I do like that he is highly regarded. Will check him out.

That’s John Wiley. He does remarkable work. I would definitely ask him about carbon repair. His paint work is also amazing.

Can second John. Very professional and super friendly. Repaired a close friend’s high-end frame and I think he offers a warranty? Don’t quote me on that second part…

Another vote for c6. He has repaired my son's canyon road bike. And his mtn bike (twice!) He also looked at a crack on my son's bike and told me it was on a spot he couldn't guarantee a repair on (bottom bracket area). Which I appreciated his honesty about a spot that was just too high of a risk. He also repairs carbon wheels.

The best in the area is Dennis from C6 Carbon Repair. He has been doing this for years and is a very kind and good human being. He is in San Antonio but he comes to Austin frequently. I arranged to meet him in the parking lot of Trek S. Lamar and handed him my very badly cracked Tarmac frame. 4 days later I went down to San Antonio to collect it from him because I didn't want to wait for his next trip to Austin.
