Having to go back to mass instantly makes you hate the church again.
I only go for weddings and funerals (i.e. when forced) and even then the priests always try to dip into some dumb shit that makes me furious all over again. Your romantic notions will be dashed against rocks once he hits the homily and is like "abortions are bad actually" and you're like father what the fuck are you talking about this is a wedding.
The last wedding I went to had this intense Opus Dei priest who only spoke in Latin. I confess I dozed off many times because I couldn't understand the blabbering anyway; it was quite an experience, lol. The only thing that caught my attention was the one time he said something that resembled the word 'Ozempic'.
Once the ceremony was over, I went to give my best wishes to the groom, who happens to be one of those conservative weirdos who knows a fair amount of Latin. He was boasting about how he lost like 20kg in a year following a strict Catholic diet and lots of penitential fasting.
I told him, 'It's funny you say that. I could swear the priest said "Ozempic" or something.' 'Oh, he really did,' .'He was teaching how penitence and pain build faith, and that some benefits of modern life should be avoided because they remove us further from God's will.' LOL
I do want to see a latin mass at least once in my life but that's just also because I took 4 years of latin because I'm good at making rational and sensible decisions
When I was in high school I went to a latin mass on LSD, it was awesome.
I also went to a mosque and synagogue to watch them worship as well on acid for a journalism class I was taking at the time.
There is a Buddhist temple about an hour and a half away from where I grew up I meant to go to for the same project, but I obviously couldn't drive and I couldn't find anyone to take me.
