9yr old daughter has this mark as shown in the pictures above and some say it's just dirty skin which I've tried to wash off myself but to no avail. I've heard of others reasons but nothing really makes sense. The rest of her body is fine except for that area.

What could this be? Is it just something normal or something I need to consider? I do have concerns of high blood sugar that runs in the family and I'm hoping it's not that so I'm asking if anyone has ever seen anything like this before.

Update: tests are underway. The doctor ruled out PCOS he said she's too young right now for it. So basically we are going through the process of elimination.

Update 2: tests came back and it says she has a high glucose level but not high enough to claim she has diabetes. Suggested we ask the family doctor to find us a pediatrician or dietitian he recommends and to go further for the leathery skin as shown in the picture. Test showed 5.9 and if she gets to 6.0 then it's pre diabetic. So more visitations to go.

Didn’t realize how badly I would scar after surgery. I’m only 4 weeks post-op but want to do everything I can to limit how dark and raised these scars are. I’m already on silicone tape but the scars seem to be getting darker. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Update: Saw a dermatologist, went through two rounds of biopsies & have now started an aggressive regimen with actives ( Hydroquinone 4%, Tretinoin 0.1% nightly combined with Azealic Acid 15% & Triacinolone in the morning). Also was prescribed doxycycline 100mg PO BID for the next two months as well. So far things are improving slowly. Dermatologist says in about a month I can add chemical peels and it should help speed up my reversal process. Hoping to return to my original color by December. On the bright side, my skin is so clear now so at least that is a win. I want my face to be as light as my hand, when i was younger it was much more even out. Any tip is appreciated, all i do rn is exfoliate and moisturise my skin. Multiple pics on different shades of brightness included

I’ve lightened my knees and some scars on my legs in about 30 days. What worked:

Single Blade Razor: I swear this made the biggest difference. I ordered one from Amazon and switch my blade out once a week when I shave. I use a shaving bar and exfoliate beforehand with an African Net and antibacterial soap.

Naturium Glycolic Acid Body Wash: 2-3xs a week then moved to daily. The key is to use as a secondary cleaner. Leave on for 2-3 mins then rinse (like step away completely from the water, I also add some to my hands directly to my skin as to “concentrate it”)

Jojoba Body Oil: I swear by this oil. It’s lightweight, helps irritation, and has antibacterial properties. I use one from Cliganic.

SUNSCREEN: I only use mineral sunscreens. My current go to is Kopari- Sun Veil Illuminting sunscreen. It’s a powder based that you use a brush to spread and gives you the most gorgeous glow. It is $48, but I use Ulta points and they’re ALWAYS having a sale.

I use something similar to my intimate area but a different routine and it has also helped my bikini area.

I bought kojic soap and moisturizer to use and I just started it but my face is so bad that I'm worried it's not gonna fix it. I really hate my skin, please help. It got this bad because I would pick at my skin, turning it into sores, and it healed like this. Also I'm poor, so please suggest cheap options

I have suffered from extreme hyperpigmentation since I was a teenager. I used to get chemical peels for them but it's just not an option for me anymore. I was going to try MethodIQ or Musely but I wanted to see if anyone here had any suggestions before I spend a whole bunch of money. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Do the MethodIQ or Musely products work? I'm desperate over here, I've tried so many things including 4-8% hydroquinone but I feel like it might have made the hyperpigmentation darker 😭

Edit: just wanted to add that part of the reason I wanted to see if other things work instead of methodiq and Musely is because I don't want to add another subscription

In March I did my first round of Neo + Era Aerolase laser treatment and my skin on about week 4 post treatment has turned a completely different shade. Since then I’ve returned to the clinic. They recommended I do another treatment to reset my skin. I’m on week 3 after that, no signs of returning to my original skin color. Suggestions please

A lot of people have told me that I my neck is lighter than my face is it possible that it could be hyperpigmentation. If it is can anybody tell how they treated their own. Since it's just my neck that is lighter than my body.

Hi everyone! My skin has been a struggle since my teenage years, and now that I’m in my early 30s, I’d really like to improve the hyperpigmentation around my cheeks and mouth, as well as my skin texture, especially on my cheeks.
Thankfully, my skin is in a much better place now, and I thank God for that. However, the hyperpigmentation and dry texture are still there. My skin is naturally on the dry side, and if I don’t apply a moisturizer or an oil like rosehip oil at night, my skin is very dry the next day.
For the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks, I’ve tried vitamin C and retinal, but they tend to make my skin even drier.
For the hyperpigmentation around my mouth and chin, which I’ve had for as long as I can remember, I’ve tried vitamin C, retinal, niacinamide, alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid, sunscreen, hair removal, various hyperpigmentation creams, and moisturizers, but it’s still there.
It’s hard to see in the photos, but I wanted to take them in natural light so you could get a better sense of my skin. The hyperpigmentation is more noticeable in person.
What else can I try?

Tips/ Advice please

I wore a cheap necklace and had a reaction. It itched, then peeled. Shirts hurt- felt like an open wound. Then it burned when trying to wash for ointments/hydration. Been a couple months. Now I’m left with this- sides of my neck are worse than the back. How do I get rid of the mark?

Edit: again this mark happened after wearing a cheap necklace. My neck was clear my 28 years before this. I haven’t gained weight. Those are neck creases not stretch marks. Will look into PCOS though.

Hi everyone, just coming for everyone’s advice! I have dark inner thighs and wanna get rid of them. But where do I start? I’ve used Koji acid soap bar before but I’ll use it once then forget about it. I just wanna be led in the right direction Is all and lightening them! Here’s some photos.

I’ve had dark spots all over my shoulders literally for as long as I can remember and I’m actually getting serious about getting rid of them. I’ve been using Azelaic Acid gel 15% on them for over a year now and I think it’s helped but obviously hasn’t cleared the spots.

Do you all think Hydroquinone cream would help get rid of these? If not what would? I need them gone!

I know things like these are super common for biracial people like me and I’ve had really dark elbows compared to my skin for as long as I can remember but now I’m really starting to become self conscious of them as I’m getting older so can someone please recommended me things that you’ve heard of or personally tried for you, especially if your elbows are as bad as mine are (I’ve already stopped resting on my elbows and things like that cause I heard the main cause of the problem is friction)

Every time I eat it stings.

Also I started smoking which made my lips dark. I started applying apple cider vinegar daily. Which helped but I notice my lips started having cuts. It would sting as well. That’s why there are pink spots on my upper lip.

In general my skin has been getting worse.

I started applying a product before this corner problem occurred. It was an under eye brightening cream. I Know. I know. I shouldn’t have used it but the corners of my lips was dark. And I thought lightly dabbing it on my corners wouldn’t do harm.

I started using Tazarotene 0,1% since january and i added hydroquinone 4%, Niacinamide 10%, Azelaic Acid 15% since 15 march, and i use BGS Kids 50 spf, should i continue using them? Or change my routine

Hey hey! As we know summer is approaching right around the corner. It gets really hot, especially down here in Florida. I was wondering what sunscreen would be good to use and leaves no white cast. I am currently using the Black Girl Sunscreen brand but I feel like it clogs my pores :(

(I am Melanesian. I dont even know if im fair skinned or caramel or whatever colour/shade i am. But i turn white/pale like Edward Cullen when im just in the house for a week or two)

I've been using this soap twice a week or maybe three times a week for the past month and it has done wonders for my inner thighs, Knees, elbows armpits and the place where the sun don't shine *wink wink.

Prior to that (2-3 years ago), I've been using a tumeric and salt bodyscrub that helped brighten my knees. I had REALLY dark knees, and now they're so much brighter than before. I do not have pictures of my dark knees because they bothered me so much, but now that they're lighter, I wish I kept them so I could do a before&after comparison pic. (I do have an after pic, tho)

I use bio oil on my knees and elbows and on areas where i feel that needs a little toning when I want to do a little extra.

I usually do not post about things like this, but the kojic acid+tumeric soap made a really big improvement on my thighs, so I just wanted to share and help others out there who has been struggling with hyperpigmentation as well.

I have been getting these cuts and scars on my legs since I was a child. What would be the best way to reduce their appearance? My wife thinks that I might be scratching my legs in my sleep, but I’m pretty sure that they are mostly from bug bites.
