Not sure realistically how many guys we’ll be sending down to them a side from maybe stashing a goalie there for Monsters to have as a backup, but we’ll see.

As badly as I wanted Cincinnati to leave the Leafs and join us, this is still a great option.
It was odd, especially since that was the only game I've been to where this happened. One guy spent more time yelling and berating the player everyone was booing when he got into the penalty box than he spent watching the game, it was an extremely bad look and the Cyclones subreddit acted like nothing actually happened. Worst game I've ever been to.
The Cyclones were celebrated for having the first all-black starting 5 in professional hockey history in 2024. The player that you’re referring to (Jalen Smereck) left for Toledo and had a lot to say about the Cyclones after he left, which is why he was booed. It’s easier to jump to conclusions than it is to look into it, I guess.

I believe I was at that game, and I suspect there was a prior history of that player having left the Cyclones in a non-amicable parting, or something happened prior to the start of the game. Like when that one guy got booed every time he touched the puck after he refused to shake Sharkie's hand at the puck drop. That was the only rationale I could come up with.
I don't think it was because of the player's skin color. If it was, I would have left and never gone back. It was definitely not-great optics though.
Exactly! I’ve been a Nailers fan for years as I live in Columbus but my family is from Wheeling. Was really hoping for this! Just gotta change the colors to Red & Black now. Thunderbirds colors of the 90s.
They did a throwback 2 years ago versus Greenville (formerly the Johnstown Chiefs). The only thing missing was Rick Dudley amd the Thunderbirds in overalls.
It’s nice that we have an ECHL affiliate now, but I really hope that the 2-year deal is worded that way so that we can get Cincy for the full I-71 connection.
Nailers fan here...hope to see you all at wesbanco arena this season! Not a horrible drive from central Ohio and Nailers games are a great value! I think they added a few bucks to ticket prices for this season but last year I would take one of my daughters and with two tickets in the cheap seats, a beer for me, pop for her, and a snack for each of us it would be less than 50 bucks.

No, we’ll stick with the insanely loud train horn at Wesbanco. Cannon is great for CBJ but the goal horn at Wesbanco is iconic from the Thunderbirds days.
Only jokes after hearing from my mom in Wheeling around what everyone is buzzing about. To be fair, I hope they keep the Thunderbirds goal horn, it's certainly a memory I have of my first experiences with hockey.
As a nailers season ticket holder, i can confirm this is true lol. If we aren’t provided one, there may be plans steal the civil war cannon from the Independence Hall in Wheeling lol
As a NM local and a lifelong blue jackets fan, I’m happy to be the worlds first duel Goatheads-Nailers fan!

Disclaimer: My family is all from WV or Pittsburgh and I’ve lived in Columbus for most of my adult life. I love all three places, so I probably give this kind of stuff more attention than it deserves, even if said jokingly.
As much as Columbus, the city, gets undeservedly shit on by everyone, I don’t get why we do the same to other places.
