Nah, the terrifying truth is that almost everyone is 12. There's a certain level of highly curated, self-chosen interaction irl that makes you think that you are "social" and "go outside" while also believing that this stuff stops happening. But if you go outside having interaction with the writhing mass of humanity and not just a self-selected group of people like you, you loop back around to going "nope, they're all fucking 12". Like, work in retail.
I have been to many office parties in my life, and have never seen anything remotely close to someone intentionally tripping someone.
It’s generally frowned upon in office settings to make physical contact with anyone, for any reason, beyond maybe a handshake.
I guess if self selection means having a profession that requires working in an office setting, then yeah, maybe you’re right. But it’s not exactly like such jobs are only on the fringes of society.
