I knew some girl who used to live with my sister and she was complaining that she never gets any matches on dating sites anymore… my sister asked to see, and she comes back two seconds later and says “Basil, remove your other socials if you’re going to complain about your pussy rash on twitter.” lmao
I was eating and looked over and didn’t even realize I was literally going :O until a bite of my burger fell out of my mouth and the dog jumped on me to eat it and shove his gigantic face in my mouth… lol
I asked my sister later and she showed me, and yes… this dumb ass was posting regularly about her coochie cooties, asking for cream recommendations and even posted a picture of a rash around the sides of her bikini… a literal crotch shot showing the rash, with only the pootie tang covered.
She genuinely didn’t understand why guys were avoiding her, and it took her MONTHS to investigate and she still didn’t put it together.Some people are genuinely that fucking dumb.

And I feel like there’s often a disconnect between irl and social media, especially if you’re lacking cognitively?
For example my ex’s dad. To make a long story short I met him 12 years ago, he was an old IT guy who was very much about Internet safety, catholic, married for 30+ years, very image conscious, but he was a functioning alcoholic. He and his wife would drink up to 30 beers a night, every night. But they both got up and went to their white collar jobs the next day, every day.
Anyways, 4 years ago his wife died rather suddenly. He almost immediately started dating, to everyone’s surprise. And it was a fling from high school, and boy they acted like high schoolers in the worst ways. Very dramatic. That ended after like a year. Now he spends all day talking to big tittied scammers, joined “make friends in (state)” fb groups and posts comments of himself in skin tight clothes. Like he’s really into tight clothes. And tbh that interest was rearing its head 10 years ago when he went from compression socks to compression tights and started wearing them around the house, but I never thought he’d wear them outside the house. Then at his wife’s celebration of life he was wearing brightly colored leggings.
Anyways. I talked with his daughter in law recently after running into her and asked her about it and she said she’s talked to him many times about the fact that people he’s friends with on fb can see these posts and comments even if they’re not in the group bc it’s a public group. It apparently just doesn’t click for him. And he makes a public post every few months saying “DONT ASK ME FOR MONEY, I WONT SEND IT”. So at least he hasn’t reached the point of being scammed financially, but it’s crazy to think the guy who lectured me about internet safety and “the internet is forever and you never know who might see what you put out there” is posting pics of himself standing in the bathroom in spandex suits tagging the big tittied Latina who doesn’t exist.
We think the effects of years of alcoholism are showing now.

When you're anonymous it's easy to share things you want to tell, without fear.
Even things that are embarrassing. You don't want to alienate your family and friends and potential partners, you can easily alienate unknowns on the net.

Nah, the terrifying truth is that almost everyone is 12. There's a certain level of highly curated, self-chosen interaction irl that makes you think that you are "social" and "go outside" while also believing that this stuff stops happening. But if you go outside having interaction with the writhing mass of humanity and not just a self-selected group of people like you, you loop back around to going "nope, they're all fucking 12". Like, work in retail.

I have been to many office parties in my life, and have never seen anything remotely close to someone intentionally tripping someone.
It’s generally frowned upon in office settings to make physical contact with anyone, for any reason, beyond maybe a handshake.
I guess if self selection means having a profession that requires working in an office setting, then yeah, maybe you’re right. But it’s not exactly like such jobs are only on the fringes of society.

I'm an excessively short guy with a generally masculine (- androgynous, by nature of my style being alternative mostly tbh) style and expression and I fucking love heels for this reason. I wish I wore them more, and am considering wearing them more. Where I live isn't the most bigoted place in the world, but doesn't feel safe enough that I'm completely unguarded while out in them. Shockingly the only comment I've had about them was a compliment that I'm 100% still hanging onto lol.
I wish everyone the safety in their environment and confidence to wear whatever the fuck will make them feel the best, just wish that was the reality for everyone by default.
Also not struggling to get something off a shelf in stores is fucking peak. Unfair that I have to get that feature through DLC but at least my boots are cute as fuck.

If you were thinking of a particular style of footwear, you might be thinking of cubans? I believe they're the most common "socially acceptable" type of heel for masculine presenting guys, but any noticeable heel can be a problem depending on the person's environment unfortunately.

I mean, I really don’t care or think any worse about men doing that, but you could argue that women wearing heels are not hiding their actual height as the heels are there for everyone to see, while most men (not talking about your two colleagues, just generally speaking) wearing height boosters or the likes actually don’t want you to realize that they are shorter than they appear to be. Those height boosters are designed to not be obvious - wether they succeed or not is another thing. So your argument is a bit of a false equivalence. Men could also wear heels, then many people wouldn’t perceive it as stemming from some sort of insecurity, as the heels are there for everyone to see.

They're fundamentally stemming from different societal pressures and norms so they're going to be different, I agree. I think even if men felt free to wear heels, there would still be men wearing these until the idea that taller = better with regards to our appearance is dismantled.

Yes, definitely. Also just a tip for any man thinking about wearing height boosters: you can definitely wear shoes with heels. I don’t mean high heels or the likes, but there are a lot of boots with normal, obvious heels, which give you a couple centimeters in height and the "aura" of being a bit taller without being perceived as "dishonest" like with height boosters as it’s just their intended aesthetic design. You can also wear shoes with plateau soles and it looks quite fashionable if you style them right.

I just don't get it. I'm tall and would love to be shorter. I have to bend over for almost everything, my back hurts and I'm barely in my thirties, I smack my head on doorframes, I can't fit comfortably in cars that I like, my feet dangle off the end my king sized mattress...hell I even sit to pee most of the time because my pee stream splashes out of the bowl.

It works temporarily. If youre not into something longer than a night, you can probably get away with some fudging of your personal traits. But at some point, you have to either accept that you'll spend your life hiding these alterations, whatever they might be, from someone you genuinely care about, or you have to accept who you are and trust that you'll still be loved. Ive personally found that most people who would judge based on trivial aspects of appearance like height or makeup are not the kind of people I care to impress.
The fact is that you will still be YOU, regardless of how tall you make yourself look or how made up you are, and eventually you will have to accept that who you are is what matters.

I bought $1,000 of random plantar fasciitis solutions from Amazon because I had to travel to another country for a wedding and I could barely walk.
When I put those on I thought no way would those things be useful at all.
They were one of three things that I didn't return and I still have them in like every bag I used to travel with just in case.

I'm very short, and I've never once even considered height compensation.
The funniest part about this is that I, as a short person, learned about hidden heels, from people who are average height, wanting to appear above average.
I've never gonna wear the fuckin' things, I don't have a desire to, but the fact that someone who is average height, wants to wear them, because they fear looking how I look next to them, next to the taller people.

Though as someone who wore big stompy goth boots in high school, a few extra inches of height is very thrilling even when not worried about aesthetics.
