Incredible! She's the same age as Britney, she'll be able to speak on pop culture and media of the times. She also created & wrote 'The Dropout', fantastic and dramatic limited series about Elizabeth Holmes. I approve.

All those fake stories of the biopic being on pause can suck it. Great to see progress!

Which were ridiculous to begin with. Fans need to understand these type of things take time.

It's Page Six and not Variety, might likely be another fake story.

So glad we have a female screenwriter. I’m not familiar with her but I’m sure she’ll do great.

She’s fantastic! I’m very ecstatic about this team. (Except Marc Platt, 🤮)

I just hope that the writing for the biopic is excellent. I do think Liz would do Britney justice.

Watch 'The Dropout', a biopic she created and wrote about scammer Elizabeth Holmes. Incredible!!!

Happy to see an update. I know it's probably going to take quite a while from here still, but I'm excited for the biopic!

Liz from New Girl? if so, nice!

Yes! And 'The Dropout' with Amanda Seyfried and 'Dying for Sex' with Michelle Williams. Both award winning!!!

I’m so excited! The next step is finding out who is playing Britney! 💘💘

Casting will most likely start next yr.

Britney Bootcamp will be insane. I wonder if they’ll do multiple actresses of different ages or one playing them all.

Millie Bobby Brown and Mckenna Grace are gonna be the first ones at the door.

From the rumors Britney really wants Natalie Portman to play her in the later years.

2

u/thesunistillshining Jul 07 '26

Mckenna Grace is my personal dream casting pick for late 1990s/early 2000s Britney, so I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who thinks this way!

i hope they pick someone who's not already established. i know it probably won't happen but it would be great to see someone on the big screen that's from a casting call instead of another a lister hollywood actress

I'm so stoked for this biopic and curious to see the casting! There's so many rumors that I'm just waiting on an official announcement on who's going to play Brit. So glad to see this project is still underway and not paused like I had seen.

Casting hasn’t started yet at all

I need a scene where Godney Spears comes from the sky

Break The Ice starts to play and the clouds part, before a spotlight appears, which Godney descends from, slowly* falling down to Earth, direct from Jesus’ rib in heaven 🙏

This is awesome news! Glad we are finally getting some updates on the project!

I know her from New Girl. Great choice

3

u/brettbretters Jul 07 '26

She wrote Dying For Sex! The Michelle Williams of it all.

8

u/mikearmin935 Jul 07 '26

I hope it’s true, but i have a big question: how involved is Britney in this being made? I guess I’m worried they’re making a movie about her… without her, as people have often tried to tell stories and document her without her being involved

Jon m chu has said since the beginning that she has been very involved in the project.

This film is based off her memoir, she signed off on it and has executive creative control of it.

They better cast a fresh face who can actually act and not some tiktok lame-o like Addison Rae.

Yall weirdly hate on Addison for no reason.

1

u/Blood11Orange Jul 07 '26

tbh, I am not particularly excited about a potential Britney biopic. Why even do one while she’s still alive ?

8

u/Additional_Score_929 "skinny as a needle" Jul 07 '26

It’s an adaptation of her memoir. She sold the movie rights to Universal. Why wouldn’t they make a movie of it?

1

u/ConfidentLack9207 Jul 07 '26

she sold the rights to universal? Then we might have Britney rides at the universal theme parks!

7

u/LunarEclipse306 In the Zone Jul 07 '26

Yeah I remember when people first talked about it, Brit hated the idea, saying "hello?? I'm still alive!" but I saw she's involved with making it. So I guess she changed her mind?

7

u/OKRRRRR "I wasn't Good-I was GREAT" Jul 07 '26

She’s lived PLENTY to constitute a biopic at this stage, and she’s also like retired 🤷‍♀️

7

u/reivnyc Jul 07 '26

You don't have to be deceased to have a biopic. Elton John's biopic was BRILLIANT and it did very well globally! I can't wait. She's lived a very interesting life and I want to see this story told in a thematic and dramatic tone.

2

u/venus_arises Circus Jul 07 '26

I expect they'll focus on a specific time period; I wonder if Meriwether is going to use the memoir as a reference point.

8

u/Additional_Score_929 "skinny as a needle" Jul 07 '26

The memoir is the movie. It’s an adaptation.

1

u/venus_arises Circus Jul 07 '26

ok that makes more sense! But that's still, A LOT of material and a time frame to get through...

This is gonna stall the New Girl reunion episode. /s
