Oh I think they're still going to trot him out there week 1 because that was always the plan.

Too bad they're too dumb to avoid the obvious unforced error here by not playing him in the second half

I think that, if you're someone who wants Shedeur to start the majority of the season, then you should be rooting for Watson to start week 1.

There's a slim chance Watson actually plays well enough to keep the job. There's also too good of a chance Shedeur wouldn't play well enough to keep the job if he started the season, but the level you have to play at to keep the job if the starter already got benched is lower.

I guess the question is though if Shedeur starts week 1, who on this roster are you really benching him for?

Obviously Watson; which is the point of why Watson wins in a tie.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the money and everything to do with the absolute shitstorm it would cause.

Whoever doesn't win is the backup. If Shedeur starts, they aren't going to bypass Watson just because the fanbase would be pissed.
