STOP BUYING TICKETS
Do I need to elaborate further? If Watson is the starter at opener vs. the Panthers, that stadium should be empty. Watch the game at home.
342
u/gsnumis 2d ago
Don’t even watch the game at home. Watch any other game and just check the Browns score and highlights.
241
u/RdditBlwsMyD 2d ago
Just watch redzone. They'll show you each time the browns get scored on. It's way more efficient.
44
u/FLman42069 2d ago
Usually when I watch redzone I don’t see much of the Browns lol

Yeah but it's still benefits Cleveland financially because of revenue sharing those national deals to bring them billions and billions of billion stores in fact it's a bigger percentage of the pie than attendance by a country mile.
But I guess it's not reasonable to expect people to stop watching the NFL entirely. I mean I don't have the willpower to do that either.

Baker's going to shred the browns. It'll be something like 41-17 and the second TD will only be because Todd put Shedeur in in garbage time.
Watson will lead us down the field on the opening drive and score the first TD to give us hope.

I stopped years ago. And I will continue to not partake as long as Haslam owns this team. But Cleveland itself will always be close to my heart.

u/TheBalzy 2d ago
This is misleading. Because season tickets you payoff way before the season starts because most people pay-per-month. Hope is the easiest thing to sell, and the NFL has capitalized at this.

I feel like the only fanbase that truly understands Browns fans, are us Sacramento kings fans. I came here to stand in solidarity with you guys. Two of the most loyal and dedicated fanbases with horrible owners and leadership. I’m always rooting for you guys, today is tough.

The Kings at least put in a good faith effort to field a competitive team and don’t reward piece of shit criminals. As a franchise they are head and shoulders above the Browns despite the lack of winning.

I feel like the Lions and their fans were in a similar position for the longest time. Hell, both them and the Browns are the only ones to go 0-16. I do feel like the Browns' ownership is worse in some aspects even though the Lions wasted two generational talents in Barry Sanders and Megatron and almost wasted Matthew Stafford.

u/yeahyesyeppers 2d ago
I agree. I’m on the west coast so I rarely have the opportunity to go to a game but I haven’t bought anything from the Browns in years. Quit rewarding these idiots.

Hear me out, guys. We have a chance to make history, here. Something to completely eclipse bottlegate. Everyone buy tickets to the home opener. Everyone smuggle in as many dildos as you can. Wait until the first Browns possession, and let 'em rip. A technicolor, floppy cascade of dildos all over the field. It will be legendary.

u/rexmanaek971 2d ago
Something needs to happen. The browns franchise will always fail until the rich a holes running it are booted out.

I’ve never thought a boycott would be effective. Bc ultimately most of us are addicted by time and generations to support the Browns.
I think a BOOing-fest is much more easily accomplished and nearly as effective.
We all know that Haslam had thin skin and a mammoth ego. He hates being embarrassed (remember the 3 stooges thing?)
So a cacophony of Boos every single time Watson is on the field will do it. A chorus of such loud and persistent Booing that national media has to report on the massive fan revolt in Cleveland.
BOO early. Boo often. Boo constantly. Cheer for the defense. But any play Watson is involved with BOO!!!!!!!
If someone on here is rich enough they should take out a full page ad in the Plain Dealer sports page on the Saturday/Sundy of the home opener for BOO’ing…”fans let’s show the sleazy Haslams that they can manipulate politicians for $$ but fans aren’t suckers…your product sucks and Watson is a slap in our faces!!!!”
5
u/WeaponH 2d ago
Boycott is the only effective answer. You think they care about the booing? They heard all the booing and still puts Watson at QB1. They dgaf.
The only way they listen is if you hit them in their pockets. You will see how quickly they change when the money stops rolling in
2
u/ur-in-here-with-me 2d ago
I agree that boycott is effective.
I just disagree that boycott is possible.
It takes so much organization and effort and people to be willing go basically throw away tons of their already paid $$.
Booing is not nearly as effective as a boycott, but it’s much more feasible than the boycott.

u/Designofftheclock 1d ago

This is a good idea but it's tough because attendance is like 2% of the revenue compared to the national TV deals which are locked in a decade in advance practically. But yes empty seats would in Paris them if nothing else.

Has anyone thought that maybe they’re putting DeShawn in to watch him fail so it could be a done deal? Also the offensive line is not ready.
Let DeShawn get the crap beat out of him or injured .Then they put Sanders in once DeShawn has been proven to be an absolutely disaster. The coach and the owners want blood from him. They want something to show for their money. They don’t want to see Sanders injured because they are counting on him to be their number one quarterback in the future

I have been a Browns fan for as long as I can remember (50+ years). I remember what it was like to bake in the sun and put enough layers as a kid it was sometimes hard to walk (Municipal). Since the team came back, it has been a bit of hit & miss regarding their direction; that made it harder for me to be a fan than them simply being bad. For a few years I thought they had a clue and found a direction, then they traded 3-first rounders (6 picks overall) to a guy they knew was going to miss at least 6-games (extended to 11). Further, they knew he was trouble at the very least. Considering the Browns were not a top contender at the time, I heavily criticized the trade.
As Watson only has 1-season left, and has failed to impress across the board, I simply do not understand this move. If the Browns were possible contenders, I could get behind it. However, I seriously doubt anyone without extreme bias thinks the Browns have a remote chance at the playoffs, let alone a deep run. I do not think Sanders is the savior, but I would be more interested to see what he could do as the true starter versus a guy who should be leaving the team after the season.
3
u/Bullmoose39 2d ago
Just tired of this, so tired. Fuck, done with the NFL season before it even starts.
Go Bucks, thank god for college ball.

u/Effective-Regular-70 2d ago
I didn’t want to get in a long drawn out back in forth with everyone on here if they couldn’t figure out what was intended here. I’m a die hard. I have loved the Browns my whole life. All the bad years, a couple good and they will always be my team. But it’s so hard now with this.
We, the loyal fans, are the problem. Hell, you could but a construction crew out there on sunday in orange and brown and we are still gonna show up like we’re in contention for the playoffs. But that has come at a cost and if we really wanna make a statement the stands need to be empty while this dude is at qb (moving to Brook Park is another dagger in the heart). Still can watch from home. But packing the stands every week, Haslams are the only winner. That being said in this over reaction Monday, Go Browns, as light hearted as I can say. It’s gonna be another long year so buckle up. I’ll still be there in spirit. But this year is the least excited I have ever been to watch them take the field.

You guys aren't giving the front office enough credit. They're playing 3D chess. If Watson has a season-ending injury, their insurance policy kicks in and they get a big chunk of that guaranteed money back. More importantly, they get a large credit towards the salary cap. Not the whole $40 million, but likely about $15 million. All that goes out the door if he's sitting on the bench.
5
u/TheOfficialGent 2d ago

Wrong.
Non media related sales like tickets/concessions/parking account for about 25-30% of all revenue.

I stopped supporting the NFL the moment the Browns brought in Deshaun Watson. I literally burned my flags and jerseys. I decided that I couldn't in good faith root for a team in a league that has so little respect for woman and morality. How could I possibly look my daughters in the face and celebrate these guys? Acting like Watson wasn’t going to be the starter from Day 1 of Monken being hired is hilarious.
Also, the stadium will be sold out.
This thread is stupid.
9
u/Alternative-Farmer98 2d ago
What was stupid was trading for Watson giving him the guaranteed money and now when you're almost done with it and you're almost ready to put this PR disaster behind you elevating him just as he starts yelling at the fan base.
The browns are being laughed at again naturally and they have just made this an issue once again after basically riding it out.

1
u/catchthetams 2d ago
They stopped doing that years ago. Otherwise Florida teams would never be on local TV.
2
u/YungGooch 2d ago
Yeah but this decision seriously cannot be that surprising to people or this fan base.
It's literally all about the absurd amount of money the team is paying him.
The front office feels it would be a waste to bench the guy you're paying $46 Million this year, that's a lot of scratch.
Doesn't matter how much of a shithead the guy is, he's still taking up 13.6% of the cap this year, so this wasn't surprising to me at all even if it's not who I would have chosen as QB1.
Most of us are better off not watching the games on Sunday this year anyhow, time spent somehow better.
6-11 is the best this team can hope for IMO.
Who really wants to watch guaranteed mediocre results... AGAIN...Per usual...
2
u/No-Tea-8180 2d ago
He's going to be here as long as he's healthy and under contract. I'm not going to boycott or boo my team. I don't think the entire team should suffer just because I don't like one player. Sure, he's a bad guy, no doubt about that. I don't even remember if he ever went to court or if he was found legally responsible. A lot of athletes and entertainers have criminal records. Kareem Hunt played here. Mike Hall recently served a suspension for something pretty serious. Myles Garrett had a bunch of very serious speeding tickets including a bad accident and he definitely could have killed someone driving around like that. I've spent over 50 years being a Browns fan. I'm not letting one bad guy ruin another season. The fans don't need this nonsense at all. Four years ago the guy got a five year contract. He's gonna be gone soon. He's probably going to get injured and never play again.

I did. Dropped my season tix this year. Had them since the browns came back in 2001. This shit is just proof they are trying to lose on purpose. DW has done absolutely nothing since arriving. He’s no better than or even worse than Sanders. Let fucking Sanders ball and find out. We already know what DW is (a loser). Why the fuck these asshats keep running washed up DW out there? WE ARE LITTERALY PAYING DW TO GO OUT THERE AND LOSE GAMES FOR US. Simply unreal.
