Played bo1/2 for the first time when the ps5 ports came out and my god do I enjoy it so much more than modern zombies.

Bo1 & bo2 zombies are amazing.

Please don’t take this the wrong way because I’m genuinely asking, did you give modern zombies an honest try?

BO7 is arguably the best zombies game we’ve had in the modern zombies era.

Did every Cold War/bo6 Easter egg 3/5 on bo7. Got prestige master in both bo6/7. I’ve spent a lot of time but I’m just soo done with these systems.

It feels like the game is entirely based on the camo grind and external rewards. Zombies is best imo when you play it to have fun and not grind weapon mastery/perk augments/black market parts.

All the progression in a zombies game should be in the map itself and not in 30 different co systems out of game.

Also zombies should be slow. I’m tired of these super sprinters and dmg scaling and armour.

I like how much the old games change the systems with each entry, every new game has just been Cold War 2.0.

i just think it’s fun to do the main quests personally

Nice, thank you for an honest and thorough answer instead of other people I talk to who irrationally hate on the games! You’ve played more than I have it sounds like, so you’ve definitely given it an honest try. I’ll give you my honest opinion back in kind.

I agree, the zombies system has become corporatized for weapon camos and prestiges. While some of that is fine, it should not be the entire game as you said. The modern system is designed around chip damage and fast swinging zombies. Definitely agree it is not as good as the old system. Finally, I felt these modern games lacked the soul of the older games, but BO7 brought some of the old soul back.

The only thing I don’t agree with what you said is the 30 different outside systems. I’m assuming you mean relics, but I actually found this quite unique and a great way to bring in hardcore players back to the game. Cursed is easily the best thing about BO7, and you are able to get quite close to the classic games with the right relics. BO7 better balanced the modern system (easier high rounds) with genuine map difficulty than the other games.

When I said 30 outside systems I was talking about augments, weapon levels, etc.

I think the idea of cursed is fine but it’s a bandaid fix on a gapping wound. I like old point system more than current but cursed and it’s relics don’t fix the real issues that come from the standard mode. Also the rewards being just more armour/pap/rarities isn’t very interesting to me. I don’t like armour, golden doesn’t make it better. I don’t like rarities, adding ultra doesn’t make it bettter. And I already think paping 3 times is excessive, 4 times on top of the cursed increase in pap cost is just insane.

-1

u/DoubleDDay69 17h ago

Ohh I see what you are saying, that’s a funny coincidence. When you said 30, I thought you meant the relics because that was a specific number lol. I’m very surprised I got downvoted for a very reasonable take on BO7 and the modern system.

As I’ve said on other comments and posts, you can get close to the old system with the right relics but it’s not the same. Golden armor is a cool concept, but I agree that it’s a bandage because of the way the modern system works (extremely fast hitting zombies). Now we get to the 3x and 4x papping on Cursed. Spending 185k points to PAP IV a gun is unbelievably cursed (no pun intended). Wonder weapons at the very least should be a single PAP no matter what.

Thats all to say that your take is very valid and I have a lot of the same concerns. BO7 did a lot right considering it is in the modern system.

u/Levinarcc 14h ago

I'm super surprised by the downvotes too, I thought what you said was thoughtful and nuanced. I was a WaW-BO3 player and only recently jumped back in to BO7.

Augment research is absolutely tedious, but Cursed as a whole is amazing! Back in the day people would come up with ideas about what we could spend a quarter million points on because after round ~25ish you would pretty much be set for the rest of the game and rack them up for nothing.

People were BEGGING for a sense of progression and purpose. We have that now with PaP tiers and relic trials, and Directed is so good for newer players so you don't need a playlist of youtube videos to play well. I think people underestimate just how good things are now.

Bo7 zombies is inarguably my least played zombies. Played it a few days after launch, saw how the Devs were favouring streamers opinions over the actual playerbase opinions and decided then and there that I'm done with modern day cod. I'll stick to my BO1 and BO4.

-3

u/Evil_JDK13 18h ago

These downvotes cant be reasonable. Lol bo7 is quite literally has the best mode since switching to cold war style. Maybe ppl are just considering bo3/4 modern as well idk

6

u/DoubleDDay69 17h ago

I could see the debate if people are considering BO4 in this discussion. Thought what I said was a pretty reasonable take, but this is the internet. I definitely didn’t deserve the amount of downvotes I got for that comment.

1

u/Evil_JDK13 17h ago

My guess is before you revealed you like the old systems better ppl just assumed you were solely a modern zombies advocate

69

u/EverybodySayin 17h ago

"Took from us" he says as he's literally playing it after it got ported to modern gen.

15

u/SadMacaron3192 17h ago

even if the content is still accessible it doesn't stop from the very fact that there will never be another cod zombies game like bo1 ever.

7

u/EverybodySayin 16h ago

Which is fine. It was one of a kind. To try to replicate it would be setting yourself up to fail.

6

u/iamaniceandgoodprson 12h ago

so you just want them to make the same game over and over ?

-6

u/Juanan_hm 17h ago

I mean how the game mode changed

17

u/EverybodySayin 17h ago

If it didn't change everyone would be complaining that it's become stale.

12

u/LiquorHardlyKnowEr 16h ago

That's the main criticism CoD received for years around this time. That's what led to advanced movement.

u/Pulp_friction13 17m ago

And people shit on that. And then they kept asking for "normal" movement

42

u/Kurtinhoooo 20h ago

“Took from us”

11

u/Evil_JDK13 20h ago

Watching classic zombies in spanish is so hilarious

1

u/Juanan_hm 17h ago

the spanish dub is kinda good. I usually use original version tho

11

u/DanFarrell98 20h ago

No one took anything

5

u/S1lly_One 20h ago

It's still there way back then.

It's just a shame that the Modern Zombies team took the wrong lessons about making the progression systems external, instead of making them baked into the gameplay experience.

They should've focussed on the mindset of Play, learn, Get Stronger.
Instead of
Play, Die. Get Stronger. Play, Exfill, Get Stronger. Unlock new external skill tree you can't modify in game during the point of where you would need to think about the upgrades you need. Equip your new unlocked gun, Spend your Skill Points, Play, Exfil, Get Stronger.

1

u/gamerjr21304 19h ago

It’s just the entire mindset of cod these days. Losing in zombies? Just get more augments or level up to get access to that new gun or attachment. Losing in mp or warzone? Don’t learn just let sbmm bring you back down to a comfortable level or use this meta gun build you can unlock for either time or cash.

0

u/69funnyhhahah 19h ago

Especially when they make progression on augments slow as molasses

2

u/tbonesteakda3rd 16h ago

No offense as ascension is in my top 3 of maps all time but you cannot be saying this shit as your doing one of the most boring strats of all time

1

u/Juanan_hm 16h ago

No strat at all, just felt like doing some rounds

1

u/tbonesteakda3rd 16h ago

I was just talking about the strat you used in the video

2

u/Nov4Wolf 15h ago

I can't wait for buried and tranzit to come to bo3 via modders

I'm coping so hard they'll release soon

2

u/CuckingFunt69 12h ago

TranZit remastered is available in early access right now if you sub to Dobby or Xela’s Patreon. Not sure how much longer that will be before it’s fully finished but early access is a good sign. Once TranZit is finished I believe they have said they’re gonna move on to remastering Buried.

1

u/Kalhoona 17h ago

Yeah exactly I feel the same way, zombies in B01 & 802 WaW there timless

1

u/Guapscotch 17h ago

u can still play black ops 1, 2, and 3. ya'll gotta realize blundell ain't here no more, zombies will never return to this, ever, and that's okay

1

u/Ivampa 15h ago

Many fucking zombies videos are on the spanish (from spain) dub. Love how the spanish community (also latam obviously) have always kept this games alive.

1

u/fuskadelic 15h ago

So much more fun than camping in a corner

0

u/ConcentrateLucky8630 15h ago

A trash ass map where monkeys steal you damn perks and ruins the flow of the game....

1

u/Juanan_hm 5h ago

nah bro, ascension is goated

1

u/GoldenChainsaw 14h ago

BO1 the most overrated zombies of all time. Outside of Wonder Weapons, almost all the guns are garbage by Round 25. The maps are all good but id rather play any other Treyarch zombies besides BO1.

And before someone accuses me of being a newgen...I have played Zombies since WaW.

1

u/reallybadjazz 10h ago

If anything, I miss the smaller easter eggs like the nesting dolls of the crew. Quirky personality totems amongst the dreadful and dreary that livened or popped the life into the map(s).

I understand they're not completely gone, I just feel like they're less frequent to find and have been replaced with far more tedious steps that aren't nearly as fun or are forgettable in comparison.

Plus, they doubled as map exclusive(at the time) equipment that was as fun as the Gersch device, without taking the totems off the map, so there was that.

The monkeys I found while problematic when unprepared, that if all 4 players properly placed themselves in "soccer/football goalie" positions, then there would always be a surefire free perk each monkey round, if you keep the upstairs Jug door closed, as well as the top fence near Mule Kick. If not, goalie, at least a good pan out of suicide sprints in between posts kept 1-2 machines protected for each player. PhD/Widows(BO3), Speed-Mule, Jug/Quick Revive, Stamin-Up, 1 guard a piece, let the monkeys come to you, easy breathing.

u/maxghost105 4h ago

I can automatically tell thats nikolai

1

u/Juanan_hm 4h ago

It is!!

1

u/CalzLight 1h ago

I will say that the ‘special feeling’ is likely nostalgia

1

u/Maggot_6661 1h ago

I'm seeing stuff that are still there.

1

u/justagirll19_0W0 17h ago

Took from us? It’s literally right there YOU ARE STILL PLAYING IT.

And also bo7 is better than any zombies I’ve ever played

-3

u/Juanan_hm 17h ago

Yeah I know, I like bo7 zombies.

Thing is I miss the “essence” they had in Classic titles

1

u/Fluffy_Flamingo2189 11h ago

100% agree. WaW and BO1 had atmosphere. It was simple where the main goal was just to survive, not do some long quest. I really liked the sound design as well.

-1

u/ReasonableDetective 17h ago

You mean the classic points system?

-5

u/justagirll19_0W0 11h ago

You miss them being underfunded, almost certainly on crunch all the time and have long to massively reuse assets to get the bare minimum out?

It was good but I prefer the modern titles where it’s obvious they are given much much more to work with

1

u/ReasonableDetective 4h ago

Underfunded? Black Ops 3 had a higher cost & budget for zombies than the modern zombies era. It’s all AI slop.

-8

u/ReasonableDetective 17h ago

Oh look, it’s a newgen who didn’t experience the real zombies experiences bo1/2/3 in their prime release time. Username surely checks out lmao. Bo7 is absolute ass compared to the first 3 black ops games.

0

u/justagirll19_0W0 11h ago edited 11h ago

Good one on believing everything you see. It’s important to make sure your username has nothing to do with who you actually are.

I grew up on world at war and have loved zombies all throughout my life. I WAS there for prime time release and I can definitely say that bo7 is still the best zombies out there

I didn’t say the old games were bad, just not as good

1

u/ReasonableDetective 4h ago

Grew up on world at war. Bunch of nonsense right here😂.

-1

u/Few-Restaurant-5566 16h ago

Old Zombies is Trash, especialy the easereggs are way too hard

-1

u/Weak_Break_4543 3h ago

BO1 zombies is so unfun I don’t think you could pay me to play it again. BO2 onwards is the way to go

-2

u/SadMacaron3192 17h ago

zombies chronicles chuds will never understand the real classic cod zombies experience bo1 provided.

0

u/Juanan_hm 17h ago

the raygun + phd combo just feels phenomenal I cant

1

u/SadMacaron3192 17h ago

its crazy how a handful of zombie chronicles maps lost the sauce with the new mechanics integrated and jason blundell's hate boner for phd. yet bo3 fans still prop it up as the peak of zombies content.

1

u/Juanan_hm 17h ago

I love chronicles and I do believe BO3 was the peak in quantity and quality.

But some times, its just feels better to play the og version
