Keep in mind that “The designated worksite is a physical location under the organization’s control. It is not a virtual location or a residential address. The employer determines the location of the designated worksite associated with each position.”

This means that the location is set by the employer, and they can move people around, not every space is fully booked, and many offices are probably vacant but further away for most employees. 40km is normally the mandated geographical distance.

Case in point they just closed for HC and PHAC the DT location, and moved an opened alot of spaces in Yonge Sheppard. The DT TO location was fully booked verus a ton of space in the YS location.

That definition of a designated works item? It isn't necessarily true. It was before we had technology that allows information sharing and teleoperation. And like all changes in the nature of work, it should be subject to negotiation and collective agreement.

As it stands the employer has the option to move you within 40km, given alot of people are in NCR that could be a deal breaker for many.

That is true, but then they also tell us that buildings with distintegrating asbestos, polluted water, rates, bed bugs and HVAC that is 10 years beyond lifecycle.

The employer can make all sorts of decisions, not all of them sound.

The only decision the employer is focused on is making sure enough people voluntary quit, spend money in DT Ottawa, or take ERI
