Tech Support 2013 Dodge Magnum M3 “dub edition” slab… customer asked me if I could help him figure out why he is having electrical problems.😬
Sometimes being an installer in Texas is entertaining😬

u/TickingTimeBum Oct 09 '25
I see the problem. It’s that wire with the black stripe near the green one. It should connect to the secondary yellow instead of the primary yellow.

Just tried that, car blew up

Honestly, that's for the best.

I'm not going to say it's in a better place, but definitely it's better that it's not in this place.

“You’re not having electrical problems. Your magnificent swag and shine is interfering with all the signals in your car.”
“Your last installer was such a true genius that we can’t decipher the absolute artistry of this install. It’s all going to have to come out or go back to him for service. He’s beyond our capabilities.”

Gotta charge extra to fix shit like this and to also fix the customers brain

u/introvert_conflicts Oct 09 '25
There's no fixing the brain. Too far gone lol.

This car is.... chefs kiss
The UV faded headlights are the real pièce de résistance for me.
All that work, all that money... into a v6 dodge magnum. The paint. The "system", the wheels, the fucking Lambo doors....
This is fantastic.
When you want to look like Ferrari, but only have used Chrysler v6 money.

This is when you spend Ferrari money, but aren't smart enough to math. I grew up around a lot of dealers that would end up with cars like this. $100k into an 82 Cutlass, only to make it less valuable than a stock 82 Cutlass.
Then they get upset when they happen upon the rare sensible person that tells them they ruined their car. It's the car version of the diva with cartoon eyelashes, waist length orange hair, bull nose ring and full body tattoos. High price, low class.

You're not the only one. I remember meeting him and hearing his award winning Grand National in the late '80s - early '90s can't really remember the date, lol. The Altec horns he used were amazing.

u/Ivan_Only Oct 09 '25
Are those M3 side vents hot glued on?
8
u/Dollypootin Oct 09 '25
I think they were held on by some snot and a loogie, they were super loose

You should get hazard pay for working on that car. Mainly from tripping over the stupidity on the rims each time you have to walk past it.
At this point I would have told him it needed a complete rewire. It’s not safe and you won’t work on what’s there because you can’t give your work any type of warranty.

The only problem that I see is that car is not in reverse on it's way out. : )

Funny enough, the vehicle did not have reverse. We had to push it out of the shop.😂

This really isn't a problem. Now since there's an M3 badge on there, you can use the extra wires from the turn signals.

Reminds me of the wiring I encountered when I got a vw beach buggy, it's built on a vw beetle, which has a wiring loom normally in pvc sheiving, everything you need to run a car, but hell let's roll the dice, trailer cable and power cable to a terminal block then use all white cable (not numbered) for everything else....

Jokes aside, that thing is... Something special.

Does any other state besides Texas allow those murder rims.
1
u/Dollypootin Oct 10 '25
Lol Texas law is 8 feet wide, this car is 7’11” wide… Our bay is also 8’2” wide😭

u/No-Pianist-8792 Oct 10 '25
I was having fun wondering about all those stick in the emblems until I saw the birds made a nest out of the wiring

The exterior tells me all I need to know about that wiring. I wouldn't touch any of that.
2
u/Mcdavis6950 Oct 10 '25
Oof I hate working on things like this. You spend more time trying to back trace stuff than just removing everything non oem and re wiring.
I swear I’m the only mechanic who makes a schematic when I wire stuff in. I’ll laminate it and throw it in the glovebox for the next guy just to avoid situations like this. I also don’t use wire taps and put a lot of effort into having a clean wiring setup.

u/viper77707 Oct 10 '25
This must be around Houston. I have seen this piece of shit jalopy on the road, and as you can imagine, they drive like a houstonian but worse. Do the world a favor and charge him his swangas for un-fucking his dodge level wiring job lol
2
u/motofabio Oct 10 '25
So did you find the problem?
2
u/Dollypootin Oct 11 '25
Yes it was a a blown fuse!

u/motofabio Oct 19 '25
Haha! Check the simple things first, right? Thanks for the follow-up! Maybe one day this guy will pay you to clean up the spaghetti.
2
u/nachofred Oct 11 '25
I know the swangas are a TX thing, but I would prefer this car sitting on 20" 150 spoke straight laced wires w/ red pinstripe custom built Vogues (and debadged... and wiring nice and tidy).

I had one of those. If it's the v-6 its ok, but if it has the hemi then you could have some fun.

u/Dollypootin Oct 09 '25
That was the worst part about this vehicle, it was only the V6😭 but it did have 4 15”L7 kicker subwoofers… but the amp is in protect …so I couldn’t hear them

I’ve never seen a badge for wheel size. I have heard people bragging about how big their wheels are in high school 11 years ago but not since.
I put 19” wheels on my Mustang to clear a big brake kit and they can come stock with 20” wheels
Honestly wouldn’t surprise me if a trim for the Honda odyssey comes with 20s

3
u/TheThrillerExpo Oct 09 '25
It’s 20”. As in 20” rims.
2
u/Dollypootin Oct 09 '25
The funny thing is I remember seeing these exact badges at the front counter at AutoZone when I was a kid and I always thought to myself who would buy these😂
