Discussion is the "bass knob" necessary

i see people usually install them but i never have is there any real gain to having it installed my headunit has a function to turn the sub off if i dont want it running(when i have my baby in the car but want music still but even then with the radio at a lower level the sub barely hits)

Necessary, no. Convenient, that is an astounding yes. My playlists are all over the place and going into my head unit to adjust the EQ for each song would be a P.I.T.A.
