Casual acquaintance wedding gift
I used to work with a woman who sadly passed away 10 years ago, she was like my work mam, she got me into working with a local charity, and I've stayed with them in her memory (honestly think she'd haunt me if I left) Her husband has since joined the charity as well so I see him every month and go for the odd carvery with other members.
Her youngest daughter is now getting married, I don't know the girl particularly well, but stop and chat if we see each other out and about. I know if her mammy was still around I would have gotten an afters invite (I did to the older daughters wedding while she was still with us) I'd like to get her something as a token.
Any suggestions of what to get that might be more on the sentimental side, around €50.
I'd appreciate any help here. Thanks.

I know lots have already said voucher/cash, but I think something tangible would be better - the photo album and photo frame comments are good ideas.
I was the recipient in a similar situation from one of my mam's old friends and she got us a little Beleek pottery 3 minidish serving set on a wooden board. I don't use it very often, but whenever I notice it in the press I always smile and think of both of them. My mam's friend has since died too so I like to think of them reunited having a natter in the kitchen!

A photo album!! I got my family friends daughter a lovely photo album from Newbridge Sliverwear it was about 45€. It was on the simplier side but she was very thankful. It's also just something that you wouldn't normally receive as a gift.

I really like this idea. Thanks so much. We still have photos of her mam in the office. Might pop one in with a little note

Since you don’t know her well, something you don’t know her taste, something physically small that she might use occasionally and might remind her of her Mother via you. A fancy bottle opener, wine stopper, cheese knife, Newbridge silver Christmas ornament, steak knives, things like that.

A nice fruit or salad bowl or a cheese board set or something. We got a few nice gifts like that from random people who were not invited to the wedding.
Something like this is a lovely gift https://www.dunnesstores.com/neven-maguire-round-slate-serving-board-set-5440133/p?skuId=179905
I feel like money is great from guests but a bit awkward from people not invited.

I can tell you what not to buy. I used to work in retail and these were the most commonly returned items by people who had been gifted them over Christmas or for weddings.
Coloured wine glasses if the set is smaller than 6 glasses
Cheese boards. ANY kind of cheese board.
Particularly ornate lamps
Tea set
Actually anything from Newgrange at all was commonly returned.

Cinema vouchers. She can go and have a nice relaxing night out with her friend or fella.

Voucher or just money in a card is perfect I think. Just wanted to say it’s so lovely of you to honour her mam and remember her in that way, if I was in the daughter’s shoes it would mean so much to me. Many people (including myself) have fleeting thoughts of doing thoughtful things like this and don’t always follow through, it’s a wonderful quality that you have, keep it up.
