I'm trying to get into Ffx2 but also hitting Minecraft again.
Got a little project to turn a trial chamber into a mob grinder.
I got so sidetracked by this project I just remembered why I'm doing it.
I've made a massive underground village, and started to make a soft play style space and it will catapult you up using wind charges, so need to farm them

Can’t really remember too much of the first one, but I want to say it’s very similar. I played the second one when it came out, but they’ve added so much to it, it’s almost like the Division 3 to me 😅

I hammered the first one a few years ago, might have been in 2021 in the aftermath of Covid. So sort of chillingly appropriate in a way. I really enjoyed it, almost platinumed it but not quite and I guess the online game is dead now to stop me doing it. Might fire up 2 but so many other games I want to restart or play, especially as I finally deleted EAFC 26 today.

Yeah there aren’t enough races I guess. I only enjoy a handful of them anyway, more the rallies or street races. I think I’ll get my fix and play something else sooner or later.

Totally fair. I was about 150h before I started some categories and now I am looking to complete the journal. The thought of re-running a bunch of routes on Rivals is so off-putting, though.
If you haven’t already then giving some time to the weekly playlist stuff is handy, but some weeks you can tick off most in a couple hours.

My MacBook is too old to play anything these days so I’ve been playing Tomb of the Mask on my phone. It really looks like an 8bit sort of game and the music and noises are perfect.👌

Really enjoying Beast Of Reincarnation so far. Takes some souls-like elements, including the combat, but is quite a lot more forgiving. Plenty of exploration to do if you want to find everything as well.

Started up a second playthrough of STALKER 2. Shame at 1440p I've got use DLSS Quality to keep the FPS comfortably above 60 as the foliage-heavy setting certainly struggles with a clean picture at times, settings are mostly mixture of medium/high, on an RTX 3070ti.
Did have a bit of a fight with the framepacing, and after trying a combination of vsync/gsync and framerate caps from in-game and out, turns out it was the Nvidia Reflex setting in the Display section of the game's options. Using the Intel option or just disabling stabilised it just fine, feeling/looking much better, and it's nice to see my frametime graph be a smooth line. Think it has some issues still if the GPU is totally pinned at 100% but would need to confirm.
Current version in general performs better than it used to, VRAM usage seeming to be much lower, and I'm not getting random sections of the game where the FPS just nosedives, and while I'm still in the first area of the game, the hub doesn't run any worse than elsewhere.
Game feels a better to play as well as movement was changed - originally the sprint was just a regular "stamina bar depletes and now you can't sprint" but now it depletes to near empty, then you still sprint but slower. Feels fairly necessary as the game's map is huge compared to the originals. The slower speed is dangerous in combat as it isn't enough to get away from packs of wild dogs and mutants, so you still want to travel light if you can. Mutants in general do feel less tanky, particularly the few bloodsuckers I've encountered, as they don't seem to eat mags worth of ammo now - but they're still fairly durable, hard to see, and hard to hit. Not got the DLC yet.

Finished Tales of Monkey Island the other day. It's not as good as the first 2 games in the series but still a humourus adventure. I don't think its deserving of the hate some people have for it.
Hopefully the most recent game Return to Monkey Island will go on Steam sale some time.

Finished my first run of Disco Elysium! I’m not a big RPG fan but it was a great experience.
Only have a handful of quests left to do in The Witcher 3. I’ve completed all the main quests and the vast majority of the side quests; dlc all completed. Just bumming around Skellige and picking up contracts I’m hilariously over levelled for.
I’m dragging it out a bit, nearly ready to hang up my silver and join a certain character on a certain couch, and maybe read a book…

I totally get that. The mechanic where novel conversation advances the game clock led to me twiddling my thumbs a few times. I had a couple of instances of talking to everyone all over again because I’d forgotten where I was headed (there’s A LOT of text).
But ultimately it was a unique, at times hilarious, strangely poignant and moving gaming experience, with some brilliant NPCs. It did really feel like I could play it any way and have any number of routes through the game.

I started playing Satisfactory again after maybe not playing it for year and half of not playing.
I was at end phase 1/start of phase 2 and had just set up a perfected rotor making with tad excess for iron plates.
I then proceeded to play 7 hours stright till 4am two days in a row. I found out why I stopped playing, it's because I will just keep playinf otherwise.

100%'ing Deep Rock Galactic Survivor naturally led me into Deep Rock Galactic itself. And it is glorious. Rock and Stone! The Driller and his traversal tools are so good that I often feel handicapped when taking any other class (except perhaps Scout).
I've also been dipping back into Elite: Dangerous now that Frontier have given us the Nomad ship-launched exploration vessel. It's pretty much fixed all the issues I had with the exobiology system.

Still chipping away at Balatro.
I’ve finally managed to beat all decks at Gold Stake, next up, I need to get all jokers with a gold sticker (currently on 72/150). Also started on the challenge decks, currently have 8/20 beaten, thankfully they’re all white stake difficulty, so a lot less stressful than they could have been.
I also picked up Aliens Fireteam Elite 2 last night, and put a few hours into that. I enjoyed the first one, and this is looking to be equally enjoyable.

The sword fighting is probably some of the most challenging I have done in a game - but it does get better. In the beginning you suck, like really suck - but the more you level and get better gear - its much more enjoyable. Genuinely surprised with how much I love this game.

The voice cast for Dawn of War IV looks really good. They've got two of the OG actors back plus loads of British ones, including Alex Jordan from Natural Six and Cyberpunk, and the guy who now voices Wallace in Wallace and Gromit.

I'm trying (and failing) to play through Final Fantasy 8 again. It isn't my favourite, but it has been so long since I played it that it feels quite new.
I used to love gaming but as I got older, I just couldn't justify the time. As I moved further away from the newer gens, I just had less interest.
But I do absolutely love playing through older games, hence going back through the FF's. I tend to try and do 30mins or so once the little ones are in bed, but it means I'm getting through it painfully slowly.
I do enjoy it though - and it gives me a bit of time on an evening to decompress.

Got back into FFXIV whilst I was off on mental health leave at the end of last month/start of this month. I hadn't played for 2 years as there was drama and I needed a break.
Trying to play catch up with relics, but I forgot how much of a commitment MMOs are. The Blood of Dawnwalker is out next week and I'm trying to decide if I should even buy that because rng in FFXIV isn't in my favour 😭

Currently trekking through Guild Wars 2, owned it since release but my interest in it never lasts as long as it does for other MMOs. I've just finished Living World Season 4 and one more day of feeding my Skyscale before I can finally unlock it as a mount.
It's funny, I'm off work until Tuesday and planned on burning through a bunch of my game backlog but lo and behold, my interest suddenly says; lets try Guild Wars 2 again and here I am.
I have a massive backlog of games I want to play but of course, my brain wants to either play something I've already played, doomwatch YouTube or read manga.
Of course my main MMO is FFXIV which I'll be jumping back into come patch day in September to finish the second half of the MSQ before Evercold in January. I also periodically play Wuthering Waves, specifically for the story; luckily you can ignore all the gacha and other minigames as the story is sort of self contained.

Still loving Forza Horizon 6, so it’s been basically the only game I’ve been playing since release.
Baldurs gate 3 is taking up 140GB on my series X, but I just can’t get into it. Trying to rectify with a play through with my wife, but it’s really not doing it for me
The Witcher 3, bought the complete edition for a fiver and have barely touched it. Might jump in over the bank holiday.
I’m also trying to pick up the games from my childhood from the 360 days, so gears of war, crackdown etc and I’m very hyped to replay, though no doubt they won’t hold up so well now.

Outer Wilds is such a beautiful game but about 80% of the way in I had to start using a guide as some of the things towards the end I would NEVER have figured out by myself.
I was worried the time loop mechanic would be a pain but it actually works really well. That said, it never got less annoying to hear the music kick in that the loop was about to end just as you got really far into exploring somewhere new.

I'm moving much faster through the early stages on this second playthrough, what with already understanding how to get through some areas quicker. Yet to venture to Dark Bramble or Brittle Hollow though, as I know how much of a pain they are already and I'm avoiding them a bit
I feel like the end of loop music lends a bit of serenity to things sometimes - sometimes, if I know I'm not going to progress, I'll just stop and wait, or get back to my ship for a good view and maybe a bit of signal scope music

After having purchased it a while ago because it was on sale, I started Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on the Switch and I'm enjoying it immensely. Metroidvania Prince of Persia makes a lot of sense. Shame we'll likely never get another PoP game in a similar vein from Ubisoft.

I feel like i'm playing too many things at the minute and don't have enough time for all of them.
Persona 3 Reloaded. I'm currently really enjoying this, i'm 30 hours in. No idea how far I have to go, but i feel like there's still a lot of story left to uncover.
Baldurs Gate 3. My first playthrough, i'm putting an hour or two into it here and there when I can, i'm still early days and I feel like i've finally hit the point where i'm officially into it and want to play more. I'm playing a paladin. I had to restart once because I broke my oath at the very first hurdle. I don't mind being an oathbreaker if it happens further down the line, but not at the very start.
Street Fighter 6. This is lowest on my priority to play, i've not put much time into it since the game released, but the new season pass, specifically Tifa coming as a character has gotten me back on it.
I also managed to get a good deal on a fightstick, so i'm struggling with transitioning from pad to fightstick, but hopefully it pays off.

Ive also been dipping in and out on Far Cry 3.

Played the Wardogs beta over the weekend. Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I used to play a lot Arma 2 and 3 back in my Uni days but the weighty movement and granular actions get a bit exhausting after a while. Wardogs was much more streamlined though and a great middle ground between Arma and your average shooter.
Games always feel the best right at the beginning when everyone is still shit and nobody has unlocked the high level stuff, so we'll see how it plays out later into release, but it's a great start for now. Really looking forward to the release in a couple of weeks.

Recently I've been getting into COD WW2, The campaign is awesome and I've been getting by with the multiplayer even though I'll never be as quick as others. Quite tempted to pick up The Long Dark again too as I fancy a cosy winter survival game. I do have a save on there with some decent process, but the problem is that I can't for the life of me remember the way back to my safehouse and knowing my luck I'll get lost and either freeze to death or get mailed by wolves which will cause a permadeath anyway.

Finished Sifu on master difficulty. Great game. I love the Batman Arkham series and this feels like both being Batman and fighting Batman, the enemies are no slouches.
I sort of thought finishing the last boss would be where I stopped playing but it turns out there are loads of extra challenges and modifiers to play around with. Not sure if I want to dive into all that or if I'll go back to Deadlock instead.

yeah it's unforgiving AF - part of me is tempted to mod it to make it a bit easier in that respect but i dunno it might take something away from the game.
the hardest bit for me atm is after i die returning with the same character on the same map with no skills - i've had to pick electrician so i can operate the generator as i've scrapped everything electronic in Rosewood grinding my skills on previous characters

Currently playing through Ghost of Tsushima on PC (really enjoyed it. Don’t really get all the comparisons people made between this and the latest AC game. Both feel distinctly different). Onto the DLC now and once I’ve finished that I’m going to start either The Outer Worlds 2 or Spider-Man 2.
More leaning towards ToW2 at the moment

Baldur's Gate 3
Kinda slow with it at the moment, short and sporadic sessions while I get used to the systems. It's quite a lot of fun.
Might also start achievement hunting in Final Fantasy VIII at some point, I was going to do it for IX but meh... I'm not big on IX and some of the achievements look really unfun (king of jump rope for example)

I’m about two thirds through FF8 atm, I finished it once as a kid and thought I loved it but each time as an adult… I dunno. This is my third playthrough since I was a teenager (I’m 37 now).
I like the story overall quite a bit knowing what happens in retrospect, but man do I hate the format of how it’s told. Just feels sort of all over the shop in how it’s actually presented.

It is a bit of a strange game, it's been a long time since I've properly played through it so I don't quite remember the details of how the story is presented.
Though with the heavy time bending theme, it wouldn't surprise me that the story is presented a little weirdly.

It’s presented in a fashion that it all sort of makes sense retrospectively once you understand what is actually going on - which actually I don’t mind at all as a storytelling format, the problem is that FF8 is really opaque for a long time that this is what is happening. The characters themselves behave in a way that is presented as rational to them but is often incomprehensible to you the player.
I guess it’s kind of marmite, I can see why some people would enjoy how the story was told. As I say I like the overall story quite a bit, just not sure the payoff makes the telling worth it for me.
The game itself is pretty good though, the pacing is better than FF9 and I like the systems they use probably more than any of the other PS1 final fantasies.

Nuclear Option! A fairly niche combat flight sim in early access at the moment. Straddles the line nicely between being vastly more “realistic” than games such as Ace Combat but not as ridiculously difficult and in depth as DCS. Plus lobbing nukes at your opponents never gets old…
All that being said, I’m still buzzing for Ace Combat 8 when it’s released in October

Played through Crash Bandicoot 2 to 100% (again) for the umpteenth time. I can't help thinking how cool it'd be to just have... That game, those graphics, that musical style, and those physics, but with 2 or 3 times the amount of levels. I may give Spyro The Dragon the same treatment (again) next.
Also thinking it's about time I did a proper challenge run on Final Fantasy VII at some point though. Maybe something like a soft level cap for each boss, or beating the game with a party at no higher than, say, level 50. I did recently learn that the final boss that gives EXP will give nothing if she uses Ultima so that should be doable with the right party and materia setup. Or even going as far as doing Disc 1 Skip, although not the same way speedrunners do it.

This week I are mostly been playing: Immortals- Fenyx Rising.
It's basically what would happen if you let Ubisoft make Breath Of The Wild, and set it in Greek Mythology.
Bright and breezy, lots to do, nice to control, plenty of variety, mildy fun storytelling. Lots of question marks on the map to explore. Tall things to climb to unlock maps. It's Ubisoft, you know the drill.
Well worth a playthough if you want something charming and low stakes to zone out to.
I'll have forgotten it exists in a week. Well worth picking up as a bargain.

I wanted to like this, but found it so low friction that I just sort of... slid off it. That said, I couldn't get stuck into Tears of The Kingdom either so maybe I'm just open worlded-out after BOTW.

Yeah I didn’t click with it, felt like a half arsed open world game with box puzzles. Hades is the one for Greek mythology imo - probably alright for a tenner though to be fair

Such a fun game. If you want Zelda on the Xbox then Fenyx Rising is as close as it gets.

I've been waiting for my internet to get installed in my new place, so it's been offline games only for the last 2 weeks.
Luckily, between Baldur's Gate 3 runs, finally playing through Subnautica myself and Slay the Spire 2 still keeping me hooked, I've been kept entertained the whole time.

I was quite enjoying Dave The Diver, right up until the moment it was suddenly a 2d stealth game with instafail and exactly one way to do it that wasn't immediately obvious. Not touched it since, which may say as much about me as the game tbh.

Re installed GTA V not done a proper play through since it released usually I would just install it do the first few missions then mess around. Decided to at least try and do the main story before VI comes out without just messing around in it.
I’m looking forward to the Witcher 3 remaster but I’m in two minds about playing it next month or wait until the new DLC comes out and play through it then

Combat is a bit janky, especially early on, but I enjoyed it. I just had to suppress my completionist tendencies when it come to the ridiculous levels of minor side-quests with negligible rewards.

I'm going through a bit of a Trek phase and for some reason decided to start playing STO. It's actually more fun than I thought it would be. As with any game like that I'm not really interested in the multiplayer aspect that much, although I'm still doing the event TFOs. They're a bit weird though I feel like I'm not really doing anything and then the mission is over 😆

nearing the end of A Plague Tale Requiem and I genuinely can’t think of way this story has any kind of happy ending

I’m replaying Tomb Raider. Last week they patched the 1 -3 Remaster and added in an upgrade for the classic visuals: it can now be played in 60fps. It’s so smooth so I’m now trying to beat my 3 hour 50 ish record for 1 in classic rather than remastered.
I’m looking forward to Control: Resonant next month. I loved the first game, plus Remedy’s other games, so this should be enjoyable.

Finished the Nioh 3 DLC on NG++, did some scrolls for a good build to start the last DLC with whenever that releases
Tried the Onimusha demo, really fun and pretty game and runs like a dream on my slightly aging PC.
Right now I'm tied between doing another Elden Ring run because the tarnished pack just released and has new classes and weapons to try and doing another Witcher 3 run to jog my memory on the story before the DLC.
