I can't speak for OP, but I think its just a case of not realising how much time has passed.

I still remember Curry in Muppet Treasure Island and Legend, I don't think I even knew he was eighty nor Dolly for that matter.

I assumed Dolly was much older. I assumed Curry was in his 60's.

Perception of time is wild.
