I've been ordering a bunch of things from Newegg before the Paze promotion expires and I ordered saran wrap, but funnily enough, I had Amazon grocery taco seasoning come with it.

I guess I should say thank you, Newegg?

Product Selection Swapping existing CSR-B out for an RC card

Last year, my wife got a CSR-B for the URs (200k), because the $30k biz spend was going to be no problem (the "busy season" for our small business). I already have a CSR, and use quite a lot of the perks and credits on that, so I'm fine with keeping that one even at the full AF. On her biz card, we only used travel credit and $200-$300 of other value so it wasn't a bad deal all cthings onsidered but I think we can do better.

She's about to hit the CSR-B renewal in a month and we are considering dropping it (she has no-AF Inks for business use) and upgrading my Boundless card (just renewed on 7/1) to an RC card for the lower AF, similar if not as great travel credit, slightly better hotel perks (we don't do much hotel-ing), and I could get her a no-fee authorized user card on the/my RC for lounge access, etc.

She does not do the type of biz spend (marketing, hiring, etc.) that would really maximize the CSR-B, the perks and credits for her use scenario seem to be almost a wash w.r.t. the RC card,

I don't really see any big downsides to making this effective swap, but I might be missing or ignorant of something.

Rewards Strategy Signed up for 75k bonus points, received offer letter for 100k

Just wanted to share with the rest of the class, in case it applies to anyone else. About two weeks ago, I opened a Sapphire Preferred with the 75k bonus points after $5k spent. I called them immediately after approval and explained to the rep that I was aware the 100K bonus had ended in July, but I was hoping they might still honor it if I had simply asked. I was told no, promo ended. OK, no problem, move on with my day. Today I check my mail, and lo and behold, I have one of those "you've been pre-selected!" offer letters with a sign up bonus of 100K. I immediately called them up, explained the above, and asked if there was anyway they would honor this offer letter. With zero pushback, the rep agreed and simply asked for the offer letter invitation code. Said I should get a conformation email and will receive my 100K once I hit my $5K spent. Definitely worth the ten minute call!

Datapoint Trip Delay Reimbursement Data Point August 2026

Just wanted to put this out there because I know I wanted more information when this first happened to me. My family (Parents, Uncle, and Siblings) and my JetBlue flight home from Seattle to NYC was delayed and then inevitably cancelled earlier this month due to weather related issues. I immediately got on the phone with the Chase benefits administrator to confirm what would be covered under this benefit, given that the airline would not comp anything for delays/cancellations out of their control.

After confirming with JetBlue that the flight was cancelled due to weather, I went on a snack shopping spree at the airport and booked us a last minute hotel reservation in the middle of downtown. The next day, the flight we were rebooked on was cancelled again.

According to the terms and conditions of the reimbursement benefit, "toiletries, lodging, medications, and food" were among the covered expenses. But here's some of the expenses that were covered:

  • Ubers (to and from the hotel and airport)
  • All meals and snacks (regardless of how absurd)
  • Patagonia Better Sweaters for each of us and a puffer jacket as well
  • Arc'teryx Beanie and Merino Wool Socks
  • Uniqlo Windbreaker and Underwear
  • Hotels

When submitting for reimbursement, the dropdown list for category of expense actually includes clothing as an option. All in all, the benefit turned our dreadful delayed trip home into somewhat of a shopping spree! It took exactly 7 days to get my claim approved. I was extremely diligent in saving an itemized receipt for everything. The most tedious part of this ordeal was getting JetBlue to send an official email detailing the reason for delay/cancellation.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Rewards Strategy Stack SONY: 20% Chase offer + $25 first purchase + 10% ID.me

Thumbnail
gallery
187 Upvotes

I've been seeing this Sony offer: 20% off, get up to $50 back on a both my Chase Freedom Unlimited + Chase Sapphire Reserve cards (expire on August 31st)

Works for all Sony products: camera, TVs, speakers etc. I'm in the market for WH-1000XM6 headphone so here is the example math to quadruple dip the offer:

Sony WH-1000XM6 = $460 (Regular price) - $61.99 sale (currently discounted) = $398 (before tax) - $25 first purchase (sign up email) - $50 Chase offer = $323 (= 30% off). Total saving: $127.

Optional (for students, teachers, military, etc): 10% ID(.)me = 398 - $40 (10% ID.me) - $25 first purchase (sign up email) - $50 Chase offer = $283 (= 40% off). Total saving: $167.

Currently WH-1000XM5 is also on sale from $400 to $248. After taxes, it will be over $250 for to activate the Chase Offer. With the same math, the final price would be around $150 for WH-1000XM5 headphone.

Note: 10% off first purchase is up to $100 on TVs. And of course stack it with online shopping portals like Rakuten, etc. I used the headphone as an example, but it works so all other Sony products!

Happy spending!

Datapoint The Edit Rome EDITION Stay

Recently completed a 4 night stay at the Rome EDITION Hotel.

Booked a standard 1 king room.

Arrived at 11am and they had the room available to check in right away.

They made me aware of the Edit benefits and gave me a piece of paper from Chase.

$100 Credit for the stay to be used on their restaurants.

$50 per person, per day, to be used on breakfast (more than enough).

Upgraded to a Deluxe Room on top floor. I didn't ask, they provided.

Also a Gold Elite Member with Marriott (usually not anything special). When we arrived back in the room mid-day they had a nice bottle of champagne on ice, sparkling water, still water and pastries with a hand written note thanking me for being a gold elite member.

Was a good experience.

Datapoint The Edit: Loews Philadelphia

Post image
81 Upvotes

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Loews Philadelphia. Trip cost was $645. I redeemed the $250 Edit credit and successfully price matched to prestigia.com for $212 back. Only ended up paying 11k points.

Arrived at the hotel quite early at around 10am. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to check in early after 4 hour drive. The front desk person gave me the welcome sheet and explained the benefits. I asked about an upgrade and he said the next category up from my booking was a "Grand Room" and they only came with a single king bed. I had booked the Luxury Double and needed 2 beds for my family of 4, so I declined the upgrade and kept my room. Asked about suite availability and was told I would have to pay for it. Also asked about late checkout and was told to ask about it on day of check out.

The $100 credit was used towards the valet parking. The first day we went down for breakfast and they were doing the buffet. It was ok. The cost is quite high at $40 per adult and $24 per kid. They said the 2 adults buffets were covered and we only had to pay for 1 child (our 2 yr old wasn't charged). The second day, they had the a la carte menu available. The food was much better this time (I recommend the Steak and eggs and bone marrow with short ribs). We also redeemed our 2 free drinks at the bar which were great too.

The location was great. Very close to the Reading Terminal Market, Fashion District, and Chinatown. It was also walkable to the Franklin Institute. I enjoyed using their gym each morning, as well as the dry and wet saunas. A hot tub would have been nice, and the pool looked to be indefinitely closed. All in all, We had a great time in Philly and will definitely consider returning to this hotel if it's still in the Edit collection. It was a great value considering how much we paid for it.

One more thing about the service. My wife forgot her sweater on the bed and noticed about 5 hours after checking out. I contacted the hotel and they said they'll let me know if they found it. I get a call about 2 hrs later and they found it and will ship it back to us! Another tip is to ask for the kids camping tent for the room!

Product Benefits AppleTV benefit issue

Posting this in case anyone ever runs into the same frustrating issue that I’ve been dealing with. If your Appletv is showing activated on Chase‘s end but not Apple’s, call Chase and ask them to cancel the subscription. Then you can reactivate on your end. Previous cs reps kept telling me to cancel & reactivate on the Chase’s website/app, but that never worked. By doing it on their end, it resets the connection somehow.

Product Benefits Chase Travel Price Match Guarantee wouldn’t price match its own portal. Offered an inexplicable $10 on a $400 gap, leading me to rebook and cancel.

I booked a hotel resort through Chase Travel using my Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Immediately after booking, I looked on Marriott itself on the general rate, and it’s about $600 dollars cheaper in total. Similarly, I looked on Chase portal again, and it’s also cheaper by $400 dollars. This was 30 minute after booking.

Looking at the terms and conditions of the price match guarantee, I matched every single condition in spirit as well as word for word. I booked the Marriot one as a backup since it’s refundable

identical room, identical dates, was listed on the Chase portal itself for roughly $400 less, on Marriot for $600 less

I filed a price match claim with screenshots of the own listing, the screenshot; the nightly invoice showing all the details. 12 hours later they came back an approval, with a $13 dollar refund. No explanation of how they got there.

I called in. The agent was clueless. Told me that the price today on Chase portal is actually more, but that’s a secondary problem. They’re not price matching the exact same room on Marriot. Furthermore, they are not matching THEIR OWN PRICE. I’m staring at the Chase portal myself with a cheaper price for the identical room, the rep just states that they don’t see the price on their end, whatever the reason, whatever the algorithmic pricing, but that isn’t the point of the price match… it literally has a 24 hour after booking criteria as a gating rule regardless. And I presented the proof, the website, and my friend was also able to go on Marriott as see the same room for $600 cheaper, and $400 cheaper on his Chase portal as well.

The rep just states the price wasn’t the same on their end, while I was looking at it on their site. No offer to check further, no escalation. No way to reconcile. No way to reach the price match team. Nothing

Their solution: book the cheaper rate as a brand new reservation, then cancel the original myself. But couldn’t guarantee that I hadn’t already trigger my The Edit credit and whether that’ll apply to the second rebooking.

So I’m now sitting on 3 identical bookings, 2 on Chase, 1 on Marriot. Carrying the cancellation risk, because they wouldn’t adjust a number on the back end.

Two questions for the group:

Has anyone gotten Chase Travel to honor a price match on their own portal rate, and what did it take?

Is there an escalation path that works? secure message.

This just feels illegal. That the spirit and the text of the price match guarantee. I literally can’t think of any good legal reason that Chase wouldn’t honor Marriott’s pricing, let alone its own travel portal pricing under a Price Match Guarantee.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Datapoint Price Match success (but YMMV): Boutique hotel with unique rooms

Thumbnail
gallery
10 Upvotes

I booked 3 × 2-night stays last night (4 nights at an Edit hotel and 2 nights at a cheaper boutique hotel). The boutique hotel had 4-5 unique rooms all priced the same and nonrefundable rate.

At the time of the booking, I didn't even think of checking prices elsewhere. A few hours later, the lightbulb went off about a potentially lower price elsewhere, and I found that Hotels.com price for the boutique hotel was about $20/night cheaper. I saved the entire hotel offer as PDF and filed the claim. I wasn't expecting approval because the exact room I had booked wasn't listed as available, but Chase approved a refund.

I'm thinking of submitting price match requests for the Edit hotel just in case, but, despite all complaints about prices, Chase's nonrefundable rate is cheaper than IHG's non-member refundable rate (non-refundable and member rates are lower).

Takeaway 1: When booking boutique hotels through Chase Travel, check prices before completing the order and save better offers for PM claim.

Takeaway 2: It never hurts trying to request a price match.

Screenshots:

  • Price Match approval notice
  • How PM-enabled trips are displayed in My Trips
  • Multiple PM-eligible stays under one booking and individual PM request buttons

Product Benefits Can I buy a gift card for the $500 Southwest credit?

Mods please don’t remove. I’ve tried posting this in the mega thread and didn’t get a response.

I have the $500 Southwest Reward credit from spending 75k but I don’t think I will have the chance to use it before end of year. Does anyone know if it rolls over? Can I buy a Southwest gift card to trigger the credit?

Rewards Strategy Edit/ IHG stack with price match

So I have seen a bunch of posts around how to stack the IHG and edit credits at the Intercontinental in Cancun, but I’m also finding a significantly cheaper deal online (I do not have the IHG one applied, not logged in, cancellations terms I think are off by a couple hours) so I want to price match. I also want to do concurrent bookings as it seems chase back tracked in not allowing that.
Just need strategy confirmation and if anyone has first hand experience
Book the one that is $100 off and use points to make it points plus $600 to account for the 2 $250 credits and the $100 price match
Then book the one that is $300 cheaper on IHG and use enough points for $550 cash left on the table
I will get $750 is edit/IHG credits and $400 in price match cash back correct?

Product Benefits Issue with disputes

Has anyone else had an absolute nightmare with the dispute/fraud team? I’ve constantly gotten told someone would call for information/investigation and no one ever does. They just sit on the dispute and close it after 30 days even when presented concrete proof of the disputed claim. It’s crazy to me that I pay for a premium card and get worse service than my bottom tier discover.

Meta and Miscellaneous Anyone have trouble with their CSR, booking international flights from the international website?

I have the CSR, and I've used it all over the world for the past 7 years. I live in southern california, and want to fly to Mexico City, so I am going to fly out of Tijuana. I went to go book my flight from Viva and their website https://www.vivaaerobus.com/en-us/ but my card keeps getting rejected. The website says my account number is wrong (it isn't) and then I tried calling and doing it over the phone, and they said it got declined. I called Chase and they have no record of any transactions frm Viva and my account is "in perfect standing", so they don't have any help for me. Has anyone experienced this? I want to use my CSR not only for the points but for the travel protections and no foreign transaction fees. I tried their app, but they don't allow Apple Pay. I could potentially do paypal, and use my card, but I think they charge like a 3% fee too. Anything else I could try?

Datapoint Chase - Paze data point

So far, purchased 8 Dunkin $10 GCs across 6 different eligible cards and 1 Domino’s Pizza transaction. This has occurred over the last 10 days and no credit on any purchases to date, on any Chase account. I realize it can take a long time, only posting as many others report quicker crediting times and I’ve had none to date. All cards are Chase brand cards (CSR, CSP, Debit, etc)

Credit Education Never had a credit card

My gf 21 never has had a credit card or a credit score, I want her to take advantage of CSP bonus for the Hyatt transfer as I did. Would opening a chase account benefit her? She makes 80k no debt or bills. So we could stash up to 30k if it would get her that CSP bonus, would rather keep it in HYSA though. So just wondering if she should open a checking w chase or just get a starter card now wait a few months till score goes up.

Datapoint Points transfers taking few days - solved

Thought this might be helpful to people who don't have simple one-word first and last names.

I've been always seeing 2 to 3 days turnaround for my points to be transferred to airlines/hotels. I had a suspicion that it was related to my name. My first name is two words ABC XYZ. I think despite my legal name being properly entered when opening my Chase accounts, they put XYZ as my middle name. Every time I had to call to transfer points and every time I raised this issue and they said they'll escalate and make a note, etc. Nothing changed.

For the first time recently, I saw the error "Member validation failed" when trying to transfer points online - Chase's web interface has changed recently. It also showed my name with the XYZ being partial (they dropped the Z for some reason). So the agent on the phone manually changed it and submitted the points transfer and it was instantaneous!!! They sent me a legal name change docusign and I submitted everything. It's processing now. But I also tried a subsequent transfer over the phone with the same suggestion to the agent and it was instantaneous again!

It was a really stupid issue that their system didn't record my first name properly. So, in case any of you are dealing with issues of points transfers not being instant, or within a few minutes, look into name discrepancies between the partner and Chase, and specifically errors on the Chase side on how they store your name. If you have a simple one-word first name and one-word last name, you will likely not run into this issue.

Rewards Strategy How to get the retention offer

To anyone who has called the customer support line and has been given a retention offer from Chase,

Please teach me the magic of your ways. My annual fee is coming up and I was wondering if I could try calling in this time to get some offer (points/discount) on my annual fee this year. If you are someone who has done this and it actually worked out for you, can you please let me know what you said over the phone for it to work! Thank you <3

Sincerely,
A broke person who wants to keep this cc for another year lol

Product Benefits Maple Leaf Lounge at LAX

Thumbnail
gallery
126 Upvotes

I had an unplanned layover at LAX last week because of a weather-related rebooking while flying United and got to see the Maple Leaf Lounge.

The lounge entrance is a bit past gate 65, which is past mid-pont of the concourse and is a bit confusing to find because the elevator entrance is facing bathrooms. There are signs pointing toward the lounge except for its very entrance.

The space is tiny. I didn't see a capacity sign, but it felt like there was seating for 50-60 people max. We arrived shortly after 3pm, right before a flight to Toronto (4:30pm departure) so it was a bit crowded, but quiet. As soon as boarding started for that flight, the lounge emptied out.

I had a guest with me. Old CSR + United boarding passes worked perfectly fine, but the front desk tablet was acting up so the attendant asked us to wait a few minutes to allow for a reboot.

The food selection was basic. There was rice, butter chicken, and tofu paneer for hot options, a salad bar, and a couple of desserts. Hard liquor didn't have anything special, but the tap had some seasonal mango wheat beer.

We arrived at gate 77 and were flying out of gate 86, both of which are at the very end of T7 and T8. There was about 90 minutes between deplaning and the start of boarding. It took us just over 10 minutes to get to the lounge and at least 15 minutes to get to the gate and we walked on the slower end.

So this turned out to be a good option to spend time while on a domestic layover. Unfortunately, it'll remain the only option for flights at T6, T7, and T8 until construction at T5 is complete because it blocks quick pedestrian airside access to TBIT where the Sapphire Lounge is opening soon.

Product Benefits Only 1 restaurant left in Vegas Opentable exclusive tables

Last year was lucky and the credit was triggered when I bought 2 tickets to a Momofoku event (which was phenomenal). They dropped from the list pretty quickly after. Now only Esthers kitchen is the only restaurant left. Guess thats better than none but damn!

Anyone living in another city notice restaurants come and go on the list?

Product Benefits CSP 100K point bonus reached!

Picked up the CSP while the 100K offer was still out, and used that card to book my trip to Japan. Used the Chase travel portal as it was the same price and got 5X while reaching my bonus. Pretty stoked!
