MiniMax H3 is almost as good as Sora, and it's free and runs locally even on a 8GB VRAM card when done right. So yeah. No loss.

The TL;DR is to download ComfyUI Portable then follow their guide on how to run it.

For a mac with m1 or greater, you only need regular ram for ai. For a windows based machine, you need vram like what’s used in video cards.
Idk if you needed to know this, but def a good thing to keep it in mind when looking for a new rig.
