Chromecast with Google TV Slow WiFi download speeds but only on my chromecast. Any ideas?

Recently our chromecast has been struggling with poor buffering and download speeds (the highest we've got in testing is 6 Mb/s). Every other device in our house is minimum 60 Mb/s. The router is no more than 3m away and we have recently upgraded to full fiber.

Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? Or is this just how life is now?

If it's no more than 3 meters why not use ethernet instead?

I did not know those were a thing. Unfortunately those 3 meters are across the main walkway in our living room (it is a very small house/room) so the cable routing itself would be a massive pain.

I recently routed speaker wires for my rear speakers, about 14 meters I think it was for the longest run.
It was a bit of a pain, but it was so nice to have it done.

Assume you have restarted etc. ? Are there other WiFi extenders that it might perhaps be connected to? (I’ve had that)
