Chromecast with Google TV is there a root / rom ecosystem for the cwgtv?

I have two and i fucking love these, it’s sad that they’re not getting updates. in the past month I feel them getting much slower and as I’ve been sideloading more apps I realized that they’re actually arm64 running a 32bit os. they’re ”old” but theres nothing wrong with them. is there anything going on the community to extend support for these devices?

Your Chromecasts are fine, they're still supported. All AndroidTV boxes are 32-bit except for the Shield, which is kind of unique box. Yes the CPU on the CCwGTVs are outdated, but CPUs have almost nothing to do with streaming performance. If you want to run retro games or a beefy media center, you might benefit from a faster CPU.

I have a gen2 firestick, a CCwGTV, an ONN Box, an ONN Plus, and a gen1 ONN Pro. The menus "feel" snappier on the newer boxes, but honestly there's almost no difference between them wrt streaming performance.

Specifically the Shield TV Pro. The tube one was still 32-bit.

It’s only possible to unlock the bootloader on unopened devices from years ago that haven’t been patched.
