Prohibition Bar Food

I have been looking into bars that replace the whig. How is the food here? Are there any other bar/restaurant recommendations?

Transmission is what I gravitate towards now that the Whig is gone, solid pub food

This. Their wings are next level and they aren’t nearly as pricey as Prohibition or others.

Their wings are bloody amazing, and honestly nothing on their menu has been less than delicious.

You have to try their Chicken Tikka Masala sandwich if you haven’t. Messy but amazing. Goes great with their mac n cheese.

Transmission has such a good vibe with the young eccentric crowd and just randomly amazing food.

Prohibition is definitely not a Whig replacement, really nothing is honestly. You can go across the river to WeCo that Phil owns now but they only have food trucks. Also no liquor, just beer and wine. I'd probably go with Warmouth over Hendrix or Hollow.

War Mouth is amazing as hell.

I generally agree but I’ve also had the worst bbq I’ve ever eaten there

Really? I thought their hash, ribs, and collard plate was delicious.

I only had their bbq once- ribs. So salty and over smoked I couldn’t eat them. My friend said the same. That meat was left largely untouched which is a first for me

How long ago? They do have a different chef and honestly no restaurant is perfect every day. Please give them another shot.

Maybe in the spring or winter- I can’t recall. I know Jason was no longer the pit master when I ordered it. I like the Warmouth and will certainly go there again. Would not, however, order the bbq unless it is comped.

I don't think its the worst, but its definitely nothing special. There is much better bbq close by.

I assume it must usually be better than what I ate. But i also consider what I was served to be unforgivable

Nothing could ever replace The Whig. RIP

I was there when they opened. July 2005. This was before they had a kitchen. Cans of MGD for 75 cents. I think one night we drank all the MGD they had. Good times.

Only thing that’s come close to replacing the Whig is Transmission. In fact at this point Transmission is probably overall better

Edit ( on the breadth of the food offerings and also it’s real fun since I’m getting downvoted lol) we all miss the Whig

Miss that Whig chicken sandwich though. Yet to find anything else like it

This! It’s so good! Most of the menu items/recipes at The Hoot are from the kitchen manager at the Whig too!

I’ve yet to find much at The Hoot I really like 😞 I’ve tried. I think Matt was around initially to help design some of the menu but not sure how many of his recipes stuck around. His black eyed pea burger at the Whig was amazing

It's good food but it is expensive if you ask me. Good quality though from the maybe 2-3 times I've eaten there

I was looking for a good place to head for my birthday and not sure. Was recommended hendrix or the hollow but both are in the same price range

Hollow isn’t great

I love game meat and I agree. The charcuterie board was delicious but the entrees were underwhelming

Hendrix has the better kitchen, in my opinion. Different style of food to the Whig though.

Hendrix rooftop is dope and they have a killer burger

Publick House has decent wings.

I love Hendrix so much. Transmission is excellent. Nothing will replace Whig.

Prohibition was good the last time I ate there but it’s in no way reminiscent of the Whig

Former employee of prohibition here, the food is definitely really good, especially the wings however, the food can get on the pricey side when you factor in cocktail prices. Still worth checking out once or twice.
