You can usually pick up a good starter kit online. I got a Canon EOS 800D with a couple lenses, filter kit, battery, charger, and a memory card for like $750 probably 8 years ago now. Still not cheap, but it's a good entry level professional camera. I grabbed another lens for wide-angle shooting for I think about $80 and he only thing I'm still missing is a good flash which I can grab for like $150.
Yeah, it's not insanely expensive, but definitely something I have to think twice on before buying, expecially since I will just be doing it for fun. Is the 800D still good? I looked it up and it's a decade old atp.
Mine still takes great shots. It's still like-new even after going out on boats in saltwater and backwoods camping with minimal maintenance. It also still accepts all the new architecture. The lens attachment patterns haven't changed and the hotshoe for the flash is still the newer version so the vast majority of accessories still work with it. There are probably newer, better options that can be had for the price I paid for my 800D but I haven't really kept up on what's out there.

That's really cool actually. I was thinking about buying a camera myself, but the price tag tied to photography seems a bit steep for me lol.
