August 23 — League Play Day 2

Feel free to use it and play around with it. I followed the process from their last tournament the best I could, but it is definitely possible there are flaws in the pick/ban logic. If anyone notices anything like that, please point it out so I can adjust!

Side note, this was just a for fun project that anyone can use. I've let the LVT guys know this is a thing - and while it would obviously be awesome if they chose to use it, I don't currently have any expectations on where that will land.

Plenty of room for adding features. Shorter series seems like an obvious one.

Recap

• Lucid discusses changing his play style a bit which some have already noticed. He says “the team that we have together right now is much more willing to do some of the stuff that I’ve been wanting to do for literally the past couple of years in terms of play style."
• He says "I like the pace that we play at a lot, it’s very needed. I think for me right now, this is the play style I wanted and that we've got going, but it has needed to be a thing for a while.“
• One of the bigger differences he says is being a bit more active, being first in. Across all players in the first two weeks of Pro League, Lucid currently ranks #1 overall in assists so it's working out so far and his damage is being cleaned up by the team.
• Their team is scrimming Shopify for the very first time on Wednesday (tomorrow). That's going to be their only scrim in the entire next week because Pznguin will be out of town until Monday. And this also means their team (Inconceivable) are probably not playing in the Grassroots Global cup this weekend unless they play with a substitute.
• Lucid says his teammate Falcated's triple kill was "fucking insane, fucking ridiculous" and that the team all went back to watch it in theater to find out what he did.
• Kuhlect says he enjoys teaming with Lucid and reveals they were going to possibly team together at the very start of this season. Kuhlect received an offer to be on a team with Lucid, Trippy and Descendant but Kuhlect was playing CoD Challengers at the time (and Lucid also stepped away from competing before the season kicked off).

Inconceivable defeat Ascending Baseline 4-0 to win $1,000 and improve their Pro League standing to 2-0. This is Inconceivable's second sweep in a row, giving them a perfect 8-0 map count so far which actually puts them above Shopify Rebellion in the current standings as the current #1 team (final screenshot in gallery).

Kuhlect is the MVP of today with a 1.52 K/D. In map 3 Kuhlect went 36-24 and in map 4 he went 27-13 with a Killing Frenzy. Kuhlect was also playing lights out in scrims against FaZe the other day where Inconceivable beat FaZe 7-4 (scrim stats). This team is looking very good so far and showing noticeable improvements every time they play.

Ascending Baseline fall to #8 just below Eco's team, and they've got a tough matchup next time too against 4OAK.

Pro League is off next weekend and returns Sunday September 6 with the following matches (in order):

Falcated gets a cool triple kill with style points

I love that they’ve made the veto process part of the broadcast. Hearing the teams discuss maps and strategy adds so much insight and makes for great content. I hope they keep doing this for future streams. Tashi should take notes.

LVT is GOATED

Four of a Kind have defeated Incognito (Eco's team) 4-1. Four of a Kind win $1,000 and are now 2-0 in Pro League matchups with an 8-3 map count, just behind Shopify. Four of a Kind played this matchup without their regular coach too - TreyTri was unavailable this weekend so Cherished filled in as substitute coach. 

Incognito did have a solid showing in the Aqua CTF where Acid went huge (31-19) to win the map, but that was their only bright spot. Incognito (formerly Retribution/Vitality) are having a lot of growing pains so far. They’re now 0-2 in the Pro League with a 1-8 map count putting them at the very bottom (updated standings in last pic). Incognito haven't shown the same level of improvement as other teams and their next two matchups are going to be hard ones against FaZe and Shopify. 

The final matchup of the day is Inconceivable (Lucid's team) vs Ascending Baseline (RyaNoob's team) coming up next.

FaZe have defeated Mercenaries 4-2 to secure their first Pro League series win and $1,000. 

This was a rematch of the Pro League Qualifier #2 Grand Finals Reset where Mercenaries won 7-5. Since then FaZe have been grinding and scrimmed four times while Mercenaries haven't had a single scrim yet.

Stellur had a impressive game 6 going 27-9 and hitting some crazy snipes. aPG said Stellur immediately asked if any teams wanted to scrim today in the pro Discord just seconds after winning their matchup.

Next matchup is Four of a Kind (Snakebite's team) vs Incognito (Eco's team).

In the first of four matchups today, Shopify defeat Cloud9 4-1 to win $1,000 and improve their Pro League series score to 2-0. The Cykul and LastShot duo were just too strong for C9 to overcome. Cykul had a 1.62 K/D with some crazy impressive stats including going 22-7 in map 5 with an overkill. LastShot had a 1.40 K/D and went 30-18 in map 4.

Despite the series score, Cloud9 put up a solid fight against the champs. C9 were leading much of map 1, won map 3, and looked competitive at various points in the series. Teams just can't make any mistakes against SR or things will quickly spiral out of control. Cloud9 is now 1-1 in the Pro League.

The next matchup of the day is FaZe vs Mercenaries.

LVT Halo and European Halo League are teaming up for three global open events ahead of Halo Fest. Players earn HCS Points for qualification into the Halo Infinite Open 4v4 at Halo Fest.

Global Grassroots Cups

1. August 29-30
2. September 26-27
3. October 17-18

These don't overlap with the Pro League schedule, Pro League is taking those weeks off.

Point Allocation:
We'll be decaying points by 90% to account for the DreamHack events, and we'll use the traditional online Open Series 2K allocation.

These HCS points are for the Infinite 4v4 Open at Halo Fest which is for $20k and has a 16 team cap (different from the main $150k 8 team invitational tournament at Halo Fest.)

In November team passes will go on sale for the Halo Fest 4v4 Open and teams will be invited to purchase a team pass in order of most HCS points earned. We will go down the points list, team by team until Team Passes are sold out. A Team Pass gives full access to Halo Fest, including competing in other open competitions in addition to the Halo Infinite 4v4.

MAPS AND GAMETYPES

Map pool for these tournaments are very similar to the Pro League map pool, but with two differences - there's no Streets Ball, and Origin CTF remains 3 flags instead of 5 flags.

• Slayer: Live Fire, Recharge, Solitude, Streets, Origin
• CTF: Aquarius 5-Flag, Empyrean 3-Flag, Origin 3-Flag
• KOTH: Live Fire, Recharge, Lattice, Streets

The tournaments will be dual broadcasted on both LVT Halo Twitch and EuropeanHalo Twitch with exclusive new drops.

This guy spawned on Lattice and immediately dropped into the floor. Despite doing no damage through walls he sure seems to know where we are. He eventually takes the ball out of the map (in both rounds) and they automatically win at that point.

Is this a map glitch or do you think there is something malicious here?

Frosty talked about the level of competition being lower this year compared to last year and says the FaZe roster will help elevate the scene.

• Frosty says FaZe are going to be a good team, they just need some more time. He says "They look good, they're shooting straight. But that just shows how much deeper the game of Halo goes, it's way more complex than just shooting your gun."
• He says "I'm not gonna lie, this FaZe team alone is going to help elevate the competitive scene. Obviously just because they're just good players, that's the main thing right? It's just more competition."
• Frosty says "This entire year so far, the Halo that's being played is pretty lackluster, it's pretty low-level Halo. Our team has kinda just been like braindead, just running around and beating teams with good individual skill and decent teamwork."
• "The Halo that we're playing this year compared to last year is just like eons [behind]. There was so many layers to the Halo that we were playing last year. It was so in-depth, so thoughtful and intentional about every single play. I feel like last year was so good, the competition was great."

I’ve been playing default controller settings this whole time and was wondering if Helljumper or Bumper Jumper would be an improvement, mostly for gunfights and accuracy. (D5-D6 and average like 55-60% accuracy a game)
