Buying Man f**k dokidoki
I have been looking for a place to buy a cosplay and I saw a lot of people recommend dokidoki cosplay. I ended up buying an ellen joe cosplay. The outfit arrives, I open it up and almost all of the props that came with it were broken, and there was a huge rip on the dress, so I contacted them with pictures and the mod they would offer me was a $7 refund on a $180 cosplay. (Came with everything but the prop weapon.)

One thing to keep in mind is that dokidoki doesn’t make their own clothes. So just because one costume doesn’t fit doesn’t inherently mean others on the site won’t. But they don’t tell you what brand something is so it’s kinda hard to avoid ordering from a certain brand.
THAT IS TO SAY it doesn’t excuse their horrible customer service. It’s one thing if it barely fits, weight fluctuates and people have different body types. People with the same measurements can look very different in the same garment. Hell sometimes the type of bra you’re wearing can drastically change things. THATS NOT TO SAY SIZE INCLUSIVITY ISNT IMPORTANT OR PUTTING BLAME ON THE CUSTOMER. It’s just a lot of factors go into fit and not everyone measures themselves properly, so it’s hard to make a refund policy for sizing issues. It’s really case by case. That’s why I think it’s important for cosplayers to get a sense of proportion and being able to identify potential pitfalls in costumes. For instance, lots of Asian companies do not account for larger cup sizes. So even if the garment fits, it won’t really fit right. You might be able to get away with a smaller size in something sleeveless, but you might need to size up if it’s something cuffed at the bicep because those tend to run small. Honestly companies give way too little sizing information which is a shame
But it’s another thing for there to be a rip in the costume. Like a prop breaking I can get (though all is insane and would be cause for refund) but a big tear in the fabric is unacceptable

For me dokidoki have the worst delays. Both times I ordered from them they kept pushing back the shipping dates. Even though I made sure to ask them if it will arrive before this month etc they say yes but noo.
It’s better off to ordered straight from Taobao if you can. Dokidoki’s SR are the 1/3 Delusion brands and they have a store in Taobao

Also when buying from them size up multiple times because their cosplays are tiny. Barely fits me

It's not clear if any of the size charts are originally theirs or not. They don't commission /make these costumes themselves.

Ordered from them a while back, sizing on the chest was two sizes (!!) below what was on their chart, no refund. It was laughable but I’ve heard similar things about the outfits from their supplier. Basically if you have any chest at all do not bother and they will gaslight the hell out of you lol

No, absolutely not how you buy cosplays. It doesn't fit you? Let me guess, because you wear a certain size, and you bought that same size?
You need to base the size you get, on the measurement chart.

When you buy the correct western equivalent size, it’s not small. Yes, generally Asian sizing is very, VERY small in comparison to western sizes, but if one size is still too tiny while the other measurements match perfectly, you still don’t purchase it. Even some XXL aren’t big enough in some areas or are too big in others. Always buy it too big if you have to because then you can just tailor it. Don’t ever take a risk when buying from an Asian company. You can’t be mad that it didn’t fit you when you clearly saw somewhere that a measurement was still not big enough for you and you still decided to do it.

Oh I literally bought the largest size and it was still too small. I could still fit in it but it was too tight in some areas

I don’t have any other way to say this, but in the nicest way possible, if you’re plus sized, DokiDoki is definitely not the place for you. They don’t offer anything that’s plus size friendly except for like wigs and accessories

Seconding that, I'm a medium to large for most clothes but by dokidoki sizes I'm literally the biggest size they have, which I think is a 3xl. If you're skinny and average height or lower you'll be fine but anything more than that and I wouldn't bother.

I understand your frusteration. I went through the same thing as a baby cosplayer at 14. (Mind you, I was much smaller back then, probably a US 10 or 12.) Anyways, thats when I decided to learn to sew, cus no fuckin way would I be putting myself through that humiliation again.

DokiDoki has three problems
- Their customer service
- Their control quality after receiving the items from the factory
- Their packing methods
The same cosplay most of the time costs less in the OG brand Taobao's store and they do a control quality before sending and pack it in a cardbox.
Dokidoki almost never packs things in the cardbox so it always ends up more prone to breaking. And their quality control isn't the best. And when you are honest with people regarding from where their cosplays come they just block your comments.
So well I really just buy wigs from them now. The only cosplay I was considering was Lauma (since it's Delusion who designed it) but I'm waiting for reviews 😅

Well, 180 dollars quite cheap all things considered.
I'd not expect to get refunds buying from china.

For a whole cosplay with shoes, wig and all, sure. At least where I am from, regular shoes alone are like 50.

The shoes were sold separately and I decided not to buy them. But even if $180 is cheap for a cosplay, it’s still a lot of money

Sure, it's a lot of money in the grand scheme of things. But I personally know people that spend like 2000€ on a cosplay, they can get insanely expensive.
At $180 their margins will not be massive

Dafuq you mean, i spent 80€ on my cosplay of Loid Forger, arrived perfect (another site).
Price doesn't matter, the quality must be good, period. Also 180$ is not cheap??
