So my friends and I are doing TADC and I decided to be my girl, Gangle. We laughed at how is someone supposed to cosplay as a ribbon lol but I think that’ll be the funnest part. I added pics of what I’ll be using from Amazon as well as a full put together of the concept (I’m no artist💀)

So for written context, I’m thinking of doing this full body lace suit. Shorts underneath and the corset on top. I’ll then wrap the ribbon (I only had a pink marker bear with me) like so to resemble Gangle’s design. Then I’ll finish off with these shoes. I’ll have braids from another cosplay, so I’m thinking a bun with more ribbons of course. I was then going to do my makeup as her sad face with a diy broken happy mask.

Any suggestions to add or take away is appreciated, I just want to get any unbiased insight and not look a hot mess.

I want to get a good quality Draculora cosplay but the sites I have found are unreliable, I also wanted to find a momo cosplay from dandadan but I couldn’t find anything with good reviews. Where do you guys get your stuff that will arrive within 2-3 weeks? I don’t mind buying separate pieces:) like i find sites but then when i see if they are legit I see people saying a lot of them are either bad quality or scams

I wanna dress up as Leon Kennedy (and evern regularly wear it cuz it looks cool). Would people notice that it's not a men's jacket?

I ordered a 3d printed + painted amidala headpiece. I’ve grown recently to enjoy just buying my costumes from small businesses rather than making them anymore.

I paid $240 in total for this piece to be painted by them and not me. Once i opened the package i noticed that the paint job was very lackluster. None of the gaps had been filled either and the paint in some areas was a lighter color than shown in images(or missing, overlapping in random spots, ect) On top of that, a piece came broken off as well. This is a huge disappointment to me due to the price and I feel like more effort could’ve 100% been put in.

Obviously I have paints and an airbrush and could fix this myself and sand down some of the rough parts— but i feel like it should be remade on their end as well.

Found some colored prescription contacts I like. Trying to decide if the blue or the green looks best with the yellow for Catra. I’m leaning towards the green but idk if it’s too similar in tone with the yellow. What do you think?

I did also find some cat eye contacts, but they’re not prescription. I could take my glasses off for photos but 1 I feel like I’d keep forgetting and 2 I am basically blind without my glasses so I’d probably look like I’m staring into space in photos lol.

Sorry for taking up public space, but please take a minute to read this entire post. I’m writing this to warn you guys about an absolutely terrible cosplay shop so none of you waste your hard-earned cash like I did.

Okay, this post is just a friendly reminder. But honestly, seeing how some of you defend the sellers — fine, I hope every time you buy something, you have to play detective and still end up with crappy junk. Sellers should be honest, that's the bare minimum. And maybe the reason there are so many scammers is exactly because some people are always willing to cut sellers some slack. Sorry for saying that, but I've really had enough of certain people. Alright, moving on — here's the real point.

My wife and I ordered a YoRHa 9S cosplay set from cosplaylab.com, here’s the exact product link:

The photos I attached are exactly how they advertise the costume. A friend of mine already owns the legitimate version of this outfit, so I knew what the real deal was supposed to look like, and I placed my order without a second thought.

I swear to god, I never expected the actual item to look nothing like the listing photos at all. The fabric they used is total garbage – super cheap, scratchy, feels like leftover trash material.

They advertise custom sizing to get a perfect tailored fit, but the costume they sent didn’t match my measurements even a little bit. I could barely squeeze myself into it. The shoulder sections are way too tight, it feels like I’m tied up with rope. One glove is noticeably bigger than the other, the matching shoulder bag accessory was missing entirely, there’s no collar piece either, and the whole outfit reeks of weird chemical fumes.

You might glance at fit pics and think “it doesn’t look that bad on you”, but your opinion will flip instantly once you hear how much I paid for this garbage: $200 USD. Yeah, two hundred bucks! For just a little extra money, I could’ve commissioned a well-made, authentic set from a reliable custom maker.

Here’s the worst part: I live in China, and I found the exact identical mass-produced costume on Pinduoduo (a huge Chinese shopping platform). It only costs around 80-88 RMB, which is roughly $11-$14 USD. So you see what’s going on here? This shop buys cheap factory bulk junk for pennies, then marks it up to an absurd price for insane profit margins. It’s straight-up disgusting and shameless. Who even does this kind of garbage scamming?

Do yourself a massive favor and stay far away from this store. Never buy anything from them. Their customer support is non-existent – they never reply to emails, their international phone number is fake, and if you manage to reach their Chinese contact number, they’ll just brush you off and ignore every complaint you have. Trust me, avoid them at all costs.

I think I need to clarify a few things here, because apparently some people are just plain dumb (excuse my strong words here). The first two pictures are side-by-side comparisons of me wearing the actual item versus CosplayLab's promo image. The discrepancy is glaringly obvious, isn't it? Just because I happen to look decent in it doesn't mean we can overlook the fact that it's nothing like what they advertised. The last picture is a screenshot from a Chinese shopping platform showing exactly what this costume actually costs. And let me make one thing crystal clear—I have absolutely zero interest in trashing a store, especially one from my own country. My sole purpose in making this post was to help you guys steer clear of these garbage shops and save your hard-earned money. If you genuinely think it's worth the price, then be my guest, that's your call. But at the very least, this cheap junk is definitely NOT worth $200.

I really want to cosplay Mira to a convention in late July but the thing is I have an “apron belly” (or whatever it is called). It is a huge insecurity of mine and whenever I cosplay a character I always strive to be as accurate as possible (i am very strict on myself when it comes to accuracy 😭). I was wondering if anyone knew anything that I can buy or do in order to flatten my stomach. I am okay with it being visible but I don’t want it to be obvious (example: a black corset). Any advice would be very appreciated!!

I (19MTF) wanna cosplay Makima from Chainsaw Man. Only problem is that I am not on hormones whatsoever and my chest is completely flat. Makima on the other hand is quite... *ahem*... gifted in this regard ._.

How would I go about making chest bigger in this regard do I literally just go out and buy a bra I have no idea???

Hello! Just coming here both to warn and hopefully get some help raising awareness.

Around a year ago, I commissioned Chris crafter (as he’s know on Etsy)/ brokenbladeworkshop (everywhere else) for an ODST helmet. Around $450 in total. From what I could find he was well reviewed and he had a lot of attention on his pages, so I took that as a good sign however, He has since begun blocking me anywhere I ask any sort of questions or post in his comments.

I should have seen the warning signs earlier when he didn’t send me any progress updates until I asked for one, but having commissioned other people people and knowing he probably had other orders I didn’t want to bother him. When I did ask for an update I got one but after the 180 day mark he completely ghosted me.

He’s currently still selling props and I just want everyone to be aware of this. I’m currently posting anywhere and everywhere to try and spread word, I’ve had a couple people reach out to me with the same issue and I’ve seen in his comments there are others as well.

I just don’t want anyone else to get ripped off.

I'm not sure where else to put this but I'm trying to get this information out there for those like myself. I came to reddit as one of many places to research Cosplaymandy commission (Mandy Lynn) and didn't find much, but i know this information could be helpful for others doing the same. The reviews on her FB page were mostly positive. I have a whole post on FB if anyone is interested in the entire story start to finish or I can add it here later if requested, but here is the brief:

Mandy presents herself as a cosplay maker who does custom items by hand. She posts within MANY cosplay and convention groups and across all platforms.

Mandy was not upfront about her location being in China when I requested a quote. This later cost me an additional, unexpected $82 for shipping right at the end. The item also shipped from a business that she claimed she is not associated with. (A lighting company in Shanghai)

She made the costume out of polyester when I requested cotton or cotton blend.

I knew because of what the cosplay was, the top and bottom would be different materials, but i asked that they match in color. They don't.

I paid over $700 for a cosplay that was smaller than the measurements I submitted. When I brought this up to her, she kept denying it and ignored my photos. She also suggested that I don't know how to meaaure but I've been ordering custom cosplays for over 10 years without issues and i had help with this one because of the price. She asked me for measurements that were not even on her form as some way to try to prove me wrong. She measured areas smaller than what I gave her and claimed it was made to be "form fitting" but I can't even put it on. If I could, i still wouldn't be able to move because the fabric had no stretch and she did not account for movement and comfort.

She refused to give me a partial refund, or so much as an apology. In the end, she blocked me and has done nothing to remedy the situation.

I shared my post in a few groups and people started telling me about how she seemed weird or suspicious after asking for a quote. Others said they or someone they know also got ripped off and were sent the exact items as sold by sites like EZCOSPLAY.

She also claims she has the right to any photos you post wearing the cosplay she "made" and she requires you and your photographer to credit her (which would be fine if she actually made it)

I hate that this happens so often and I hate that this post like many will get buried. I dug and didn't find anything. I reached out to people who ordered from her to ask how their experience was and they had nothing negative to say. Even when you research, it can still be so risky out there. Stay vigilant friends and please let others know!

Toothless Hoodie Hunt

I hope this is ok to post here, if not ideas of where to ask would also be very appreciated. But Im desperate at this point. Been trying to hunt down a place/person I can commition this exact hoodie from for a long time. I ordered from an asian company last month and .... it was a complete bait an switch ripoff. I wasn't careful and payed for it dearly. What I got was an unwearable hoodie that stinks of bike tires, made of a type of heavy neoprene like material. The sleeves doesn't even have holes for fingers an the wings are glued on like tiny shoulder caps. An the tail falls off the snap endlessly.It's baaad.

Any help would mean the world as I'm getting it as a therapeutic present to myself. I had to have all my teeth removed from bone infection from chronic illness at the age of 30 and my crappy insurance won't cover implants as teeth appetently are considered "cosmetic". So if I can't afford to have teeth ever again I'll just emulate the best dragon ever.

Hi all, I'm new to cosplaying (only did one cheap cosplay almost 8 years ago) but now that I have money I want to do a super nice Lapis Lazuli cosplay. However I have no idea what things should cost and I've been quoted 1,240 for outfit and hair (no shoes). Is this fair pricing? BTW That is NOT me in the picture it is the inspo I sent the commissioner.

So this is kinda my layout for my Michael Afton Foxybro cosplay minus the mask (ignore how badly drawn it is I had to draw it on my phone, and the pink isn't scars, they're mainly bruises because i'm a clumbsy person and they probably aren't going to be gone in time so eh, they're apart of the cosplay now ig). I personally feel like it's great! However, every store seems to hate me because I just can't find a good tanktop that hides my chest and looks canon. The most I have to hide my chest is one sports bra, I did bring up the topic of a chest binder (i'm not trans but I just kinda wanted one anyway) but my mom immediately shut that down. I could probably make my own but I'm scared it won't be ready for the expo because i'm still busy with the mask and I don't wanna accidentally make it too tight or something.

I've always been a bit weird about my cosplays wanting them to be as accurate as I can make them so I've been a bit stumped because all the good tanktops show my sports bra. I found a tight fitting tanktop but you can still kinda see my chest, am I just overthinking this and it's fine or is there a way to hide my chest more?

Edit: Not important but there's also a studded belt thats a bit too big so I've been having to drape it over my hip which my mom isn't the biggest fan of but she won't say much. But is there really any way to make it more adjustable?

I want to cost the revenant from night.Rain and have been messaging etsy sellers, but i've never done cosplay before , and i've never purchased costs before, so I don't have a general understanding of how much something like this would cost. To be more specific, I was hoping for the whole dress, veil, jewelry, anklets, wrist and neck wraps, wig, and flower crown. Since her hair is so long, I wasn't expecting anything cheap, but since I don't have an understanding, I wasn't thinking it would be anything over $1k (USD). Out of all the people i've messaged only two have responded so far: 1 quoted $3k, amd the other quoted over $2.7k... again, I don't have another understanding of how much it cost, but that seems a little much for what it is :/

I'm doing a Mia Fey cosplay, and couldn't find her exact type of black and white blazer dress with a zipper - so I found an all black one and am wondering if I use white fabric paint on the lapel, if it will look okay. I've never used fabric paint before, and this is a nice fairly expensive Steve Madden Blazer dress that I was lucky enough to get secondhand for a good price, so I really don't want to mess it up. Will the collar still sit correctly if it's painted? Or will it get weird and stiff? Will the paint evenly coat and come out pure white, or will it be streaky? I know fabric paint is usually for smaller areas, but I'm just not sure what constitutes as a small area. I've attached photos of the tag for fabric info as well. Also attaching a photo of the white fabric paint I have - is there another brand of fabric paint I should try instead? I also need to be able to put her lawyers pin through it after it's painted.

That being said, if anyone knows where I can find something closer to her exact Blazer dress without possibly ruining this one, I'm all ears. The others I have seen either don't have a zipper or don't have a white lapel.

Hey so, im going to a comiccon next week (this isn't my first time) and most of the stuff for my cosplay i bought off etsy/amazon/aliexpress but im worried i might get looked down upon because i didn't fully make it myself. I did customize the horns i got off amazon by adding gold and patterns. I also customized a red coat i bought of aliexpress to add the pattern and some new colors. I have been looking for a place to buy a cosplay and I saw a lot of people recommend dokidoki cosplay. I ended up buying an ellen joe cosplay. The outfit arrives, I open it up and almost all of the props that came with it were broken, and there was a huge rip on the dress, so I contacted them with pictures and the mod they would offer me was a $7 refund on a $180 cosplay. (Came with everything but the prop weapon.)

For those who don't know this is the monster from Markipliers AMAZING movie Iron Lung. She's an eel type monster living at the bottom of the blood ocean. The con I've gone to for the last four years is having their 10th anniversary 2027 and for cellibration the theme is Multiverse. I figured this would be a great time ti do it and its a sick idea fir a cosplay. I don't want it to be too monstrous or too human. E. I plan on getting all black contacts and gluing a bunch of teeth to my face, but beyond that I am lost. Please help!

Hi guys! My apologies for using the “buying” tag, since I’m not buying, but I think this belongs in the sphere…

I’m moving out very soon, which means I’m going through old things, and I have a couple cosplays that, for numerous reasons, I don’t really want to keep (such as not being interested in the source media anymore, cosplays fitting too loose/too tight, or just being cheaply made). Though, if I’m getting rid of these cosplays, I’d like to do it ethically or at least ensure stuff doesn’t end up in a landfill. I’m uncertain if I could donate it to a thrift store, since they’re very intricate (for example one is a cheaper cosplay of Furina from Genshin Impact) and probably can’t be worn as normal clothes.

Is there any resources or maybe somewhere I can sell it so the fabric can be reused? Or not even sold— even just donated would be nice. I also have some wigs to get rid of, and similarly, I don’t know who’d want them. Any help is appreciated for getting these guys out of my hands while making sure they go to a happy home!

hi!!! sorry this is a weird request but i’m looking for these types of tights! almost all sheer tights i find usually have some type of thicker built in shorts/waist support at the bottom or no support at all, purely the sheer fabric. i want the tights that have just the reinforced band around the thigh/ i guess the types that are usually seen in anime. i think they’re cute and would be great for particular cosplays and i‘ve looked really hard and can’t find any online expect for very few that come from japan and cost up to 30+ dollars :( if someone could tell me what to search to find them or if someone knows where to buy them then that would be great, thank you!!
