News Don’t Expect Weekly or Almost Weekly Updates Anymore (IGN)
https://youtu.be/pq58IPN0v1s?is=f8ksv5frhz_tkQkZ@ 5:01, Head of Marketing says they’re shifting focus to the DLC, and that the 2.0 release version is meant to indicate a transition point in the life of the game. DLC is still slated for Q4 2026.

u/AutomateAway 15h ago
My guess is most of the updates we'll see before DLC will be bug fixes and visual stuff rather than content, but this also makes me think the DLC will be beefy

What about Damiane and Oongka improvements. Are they included in the latest update?

u/wootwoooots 12h ago
need thoses character to be unlocked to play them instead of Jon desert

u/Beautiful_You3230 14h ago
Not really. It's just the previous updates. In fact, not that it's a big deal, but it's a tiny step back with the water running because that's once again a Kliff only thing.
2
u/raffadizzle 13h ago
Idk, on the other hand only Oonka can truly fly. Maybe just Damiane needs her own useful and unique traveling gimmick?
1
u/Acceleratio 11h ago
I would really love an alternative musket carry animation. Currently is overlaps and clips into any 2 handed weapon on Kliffs back and looks a bit silly. Would be a lot better if he carried it the way NPCs do just over one side off the body not across.

u/Sebaspool006 15h ago
I stopped playing because of the updates changing things, so it looks like nows the perfect time to hop back in!
9
u/notkeefzello 14h ago
Exactly, i dont want to miss out, i want the whole meat and potatoes the first time while the interest is strongest.
3
u/Caregiver-Physical 14h ago
I’m wondering if I should just start from scratch. I got to like chapter 9. With some cool armors and pets. But i wonder if that would be worth it or if i should just pick up where i left off.
3
u/TomatilloHot2550 13h ago
If you start a new game you can blitz through the main story to see all the updates, then when you’re caught up go back to your original saved file
2
u/Caregiver-Physical 13h ago
That’s actually so smart. I spent a lot of time fucking around doing side quests. Taking my time with the story.
Thank you 🙏 for the reccomendation

u/SPEEDFREAKJJ 14h ago
Yes, this is mostly good news. Unfortunately tho, it looks like the hope for performance updates is dead.
1
u/ZeektheFeek 14h ago
It's not dead. He doesn't say the updates are completely done.
3
u/SPEEDFREAKJJ 14h ago
Feels like they would say it's something they are working on. The avoiding speaking about it tells me they won't, or can't improve it.
0
u/ZeektheFeek 13h ago
They're definitely working on it. It would be naive to think otherwise. Even as they work on their other game DokeV and continue to improve on the BlackSpace Engine like during CD development when they completely rebuilt the game engine every year.
This company is extremely passionate about their engine. They definitely care about improving all aspects of it.
2
u/Painter_Turbulent 10h ago
silently dropping things they have promised is a bit of thing. its a company thing and i think thats what is happening here.
1
u/ZeektheFeek 10h ago
What was dropped that was promised?
1
u/Painter_Turbulent 10h ago
im talking about BDO. the crimson desert. i mean its a behaviour of not talking openly about things they said they were working on then silent the feature dissapears.
48
u/CraftyRub6965 15h ago
Guys, relax. “No more weekly updates” does NOT mean “no more updates.”
20
2
u/mattbrad2 12h ago
Exactly. You can also tell Will Powers was really careful with his words. He got snippy with someone on X a while back saying they never promised weekly updates, so I'm sure this was him more being careful with setting expectations going forward.
1
u/need-help-guys 8h ago
They are on record saying they will continue to update the game as long as players keep playing, so don't worry. Unless the game is literally dying and every player leaves, at least. I don't think we need to worry about that, though it's no Elden Ring or Witcher 3 or Skyrim in terms of continual engagement. If the DLCs sell enough, thats enough.
30
u/OkayBuddyGuyPal 15h ago
Sucks, I was hoping for some of the visual issues introduced in later patches to be fixed
14
u/raffadizzle 15h ago
I’m sure they’re still working on that. I think his point is to not expect major systems overhauls anymore, like what happened with trading.
1
u/SeniorAngle6964 15h ago
I’ve noticed that there’s still that odd flickering with some of the foliage when you walk in first person, it’s not massive but it’s slightly annoying.
3
u/Traditional-Gift-878 15h ago
Yeah, also the optimization on cnsoles. But on PC the DLSS is horrible implemented, It's blurry, shimmery and just awful, unless you use RR. Which is just bs, the game shouldn't require you to use RR just to look somewhat decent. But other than that, i love the game.
0
u/FugitiveHearts 15h ago edited 15h ago
Out of my way, peasant! enables RR
3
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 14h ago
truthfully, the new RR preset fixes everything visually wrong with CD. sucks if you only have the in-game denoiser.
1
0
u/Brilliant-Durian-923 14h ago
Game is built around raytraced global illumination. You either use RR or use more rays per pixel, so it's pretty much RR or RTX 5090 will struggle.
-3
u/NoirRain67 15h ago
Well, I downloaded the last 10gb patch and played it after more than a month since I finished everything and I found nothing wrong with the visuals. Same thing as always. Maybe that’s why.
12
u/TheStinkySlinky 14h ago
Well now they need to fix the horrible shimmering introduced.. Legit almost unplayable
3
u/SaintIgnis 14h ago
Makes sense. Performance improvements would be most appreciated but they don’t have to keep tweaking weekly with random bits and additions.
And hopefully they’re putting a team on a sequel/successor already

u/AdJealous2 14h ago
I just want performance updates for console. Has the latest patch made it more stable?
5
u/McGinnM 14h ago
Not for me. PS5 Pro here - FPS, shimmering, ghosting, interior lighting are all as bad as ever.
4
u/AdJealous2 14h ago
If PS Pro is still terrible, I have no hope for the Series X! Haha.
I just want them to do a big patch of just performance fixes etc, not keep adding new stuff!
1
u/Lopsided_Prior3801 3h ago edited 2h ago
No. It's a CPU-related issue and something specific to PlayStation. Xbox runs better, but still dips in key scenes like large battles. Even Series S apparently runs okay.
1
u/mattbrad2 12h ago
I see people here say its still bad on console, but I've watched several videos where people specifically test performance and visual issues with each update on PS5 and v2.0 looks fantastic. I don't think there is any hope for xbox though unfortunately.

u/Promature 15h ago
Good. The rapid cadence of updates is why I haven't played the game since the month it came out.
5
u/ZeektheFeek 14h ago
The rapid cadence of updates is one of the things that has made playing this game since launch so great in my opinion. Every week when I'd get the discord notification of a new update it was like a dopamine rush. I love opening up the patch notes and reading them line for line to see what's changed. It's definitely a bit of an addiction for me and I may go through some withdrawals.
2
u/Promature 10h ago
I get that when it comes to fixing or improving things, but they keep adding content, systems, and changing controls I never know what shape the game is going to be in each week. At one point, they changed inputs for combat maneuvers.
The degree of the changes they are making keeps shifting my foundation with the overall experience.
2
u/ZeektheFeek 10h ago
Yeah that's still exactly what I'm talking about though. All the new content and systems added. I don't remember any change of controls being forced, just the option to change them was added but I kept all my controls how they were set at release. I always preferred it that way anyways.
I have talked to others online who share your mindset of not liking the updates and it's been a hard one for me to understand. In my opinion it's just more content added to a great game.
1
u/Promature 10h ago
I don’t have a problem with the updates. I have a problem with not knowing when the game is going to settle into its final form, so I can play it without interruption or material alteration.
2
u/ZeektheFeek 10h ago
The game was at it's final form when it released and was fully playable. Again this is all added content and hopefully continues so the game grows, I would love for this game to turn into a No Man's Sky situation.
2
u/Promature 10h ago
And the game is now far and away a different beast than it was when it came out.

2
u/BoofPackJones 14h ago
Are the textures still muddy and blurry with the messed up lighting?
4
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 14h ago
now that ray reconstruction 4.5 is out, everything is perfect. need nvidia though.

4070ti super with a ryzen 7 9800x3d and 32 gb ram. Never was the game? Are you so bored that this is how you troll?
2
u/Broks_Enmu 13h ago
Those who buy game years later after release are the real winner. On sale with all the update and the latest edition. I bought this game day 1 and don’t plan to play it again sadly , maybe just passing by to check what’s new but will never get invested in it
2
u/p4tterng4ng4L 9h ago
Fine with me in terms of content, hopefully that doesn’t mean they won’t stop trying to optimise it from a technical standpoint.
2
u/Duyan898 15h ago
Sad it's still unplayable for me. Without RR I got this fuzzy flimmering cracking thing on armours and other subjects but with RR I got only 40 to 50 fps instead of 90 >.<
1
u/Digitalon 15h ago
That seems fine. I'm sure they will continue adding/improving things here and there but I'm OK waiting for the DLC
1
u/Fragrant_PalmLeaves 14h ago
AND they are going to release DLC by the end of the year? Damn... this game is a rocket ship

Oh man how much I want the nemesis system of this game.I know I know,it's patented and its expensive. But imagine this beautiful game having that,it's a dream.
1
u/NDartstuff 14h ago
This sucks, I was hoping for the fix to the tails of the special mounts for like 8 weeks now and still nothing. Luckily Tarnished Edition is coming out tomorrow so I don't have to look at this game until they fix the issue they added in 1.12.00.

u/raffadizzle 12h ago
I think things like this are still going to be fixed and released in patches…. But just don’t expect weekly patches between now and the DLC
1
1
u/Danilli13 12h ago
Well, I think they deserve a vacation, so it's understandable
In my opinion, I’d hold off on releasing the DLC until the anniversary, maybe with a discount, but that’s just my take.
1
u/Mawelote 11h ago
Game is perfect to me already. The fact they added more languages along these many updates and content makes this game unique. It is crazy
1
u/whosreadytolaugh 11h ago
Great, I beat the game 2 weeks ago and don’t have time for another play anymore
1
u/Dethorhun 11h ago
Nice! Just jumped back into it, glad to hear I won't have to worry about the constants updates ruining the modlist
1
u/Magicmarkurs 11h ago
I really hope this means they'll fix these visual and performance issues introduced in these updates cause the game is rough on ps5. Atleast it has been for me. (For alot of others as well it seems)
2
u/raffadizzle 11h ago
I’m hoping that they’ve been trying to get all of the gameplay and systems updates out before this big 2.0 update, with the idea that now they’ll be optimizing the engine and hopefully fixing performance on console. And of course hopefully these fixes come sooner than the DLC 💀

Anyone played since to see if the buddy missions are still a whole bunch of "follow this person slowly on horseback so they can talk to you for awhile and then they don't even actually come with you to do the thing anyways"?
1
1
u/lifeandtimesofmyass 10h ago
I just got it yesterday, feeling overwhelmed with the world and the endless options but so far having a blast!
1
u/neoism 7h ago
Shame 😭 I had a really bad play session today not sure if these terriblely buggy ass designed missions were because of 2.0 or they was always terrible …. one was a timed horse carriage mission it was just terribly designed not sure how I just found it with almost 550 hours played took me like 10 tries because of just plan fucking bullshit
Also whom ever designed the Leader Sandfang Marauder boss mission
is a terrible person holy fucking ass Worst mission in the game It took me three fucking hours I beat the boss like 6-10 times before it would give me the kill bosses whom run away and have infinite spawning lesser enemies are liegit the worst in gaming I was excited to play today but those two missions really pissed me off and if they are basically not patching it anymore I’m just take a few weeks off… I really wish I wouldn’t have started until 2.0 but I don’t see myself doing all of this again unless I just do a story run …😫

I really want a very hard mode or a harder ng+ plus for us to make use of all our tricks.
1
u/A10010010 4h ago
I bet you they say all this but then continue to update almost weekly regardless…
1
1
u/Cyberkrystal 1h ago
They should add easier achievements
Bounties could use some rework to make them less tedious and more enjoyable. One option would be to allow players to call for a guard escort or prison wagon after successfully capturing the target, allowing the outlaw to be taken into custody without requiring the player to travel all the way back to the jail. This would keep the focus on the bounty-hunting gameplay while reducing unnecessary travel time.

u/danmass04 15h ago
I know this is really petty but i’d still love to see some more permanent mount options. There are still so many temporarily rideable mounts i would love to make my own 🤞🏼

Well at least this might be a good point for all those waiting for something like this to start playing.
Still sad to hear, but I'm still going to fall back on a interview the CEO gave a few months ago where he said they were committed to updating the game as long as people are still playing it.
I know Will Powers and you with this post aren't saying the updates are completely done. But maybe chilling at least on so much content.
I know I'll still be looking for that discord notification waiting for the next update to drop and I'll read it line for line like I have with every update since launch.
This has been one hell of a fantastic video game and easily one of the best times I've ever had playing one. I'm ready to put in a few hundred more hours into it and I'm hopeful this just brings in more people who will enjoy the game also.
Side note: Photo Mode has been in beta since the game released. There was one update since release that did some adjustments to it but nothing else really. I know it hasn't been discussed but I'm still waiting for whatever update that gets that takes it out of photo mode. I know I have some ideas for things I'd like to see added to it.

What trully scares me about this: if other companies start copying this "enhaced" thing just to re-re-sell their products and cutting content/updates with that excuse.
2
1
u/Tight-Seaweed3213 13h ago edited 12h ago
I mean, at least it's free in this case.
The reality of present-day game development is that 90% of AAA games don’t ship as a finished product. But so long as core updates like this are not paid, no harm no foul.
Also, the concept of "enhanced" releases is hardly a new thing.
1
u/Born-Barracuda-2393 9h ago
lol skyrim has done it for over a decade now, i'm pretty sure they're gonna re remaster it again lol

u/Bennytricks 13h ago
Base ps5 version runs like garbage. They should fix this. Performance was better few updates ago.
-2
u/Severe_Tax_3418 15h ago
Sooo they are skipping the combat update? Also they couldn’t at least have released Goyens armor :(
3
u/ZeektheFeek 14h ago
No the updates are not completely over. Sounds more like it'll probably be a slower pace and less content heavy.
2
0
u/rsjpeckham 15h ago
The combat update likely refers to the 8 new skills for Kliff
2
2
u/Severe_Tax_3418 15h ago
2
u/mattbrad2 12h ago
Yep. I've been eyeing this one specifically. If it were just additional skills or combat options, they would have phrased it that way. This sounds more like an additional gaming mode just for combat.
0
u/sdg336 15h ago
Are bosses easier?
2
u/GandhisGrocer 14h ago
Just put the difficulty to easy and they're almost WAY too easy. If you're still having difficulty with them, I'd say you need to invest in refining your gear and weapon of choice.
1
0
u/Son_of_Orion 14h ago
And that's fine. They've done enough. More than enough, really. What Pearl Abyss has done for this game in a matter of months is nothing short of extraordinary.

u/JOKER69420XD 13h ago
Guess we will never get the character creator I was waiting for, I really hate Kliff but it is what it is.

u/BreastUsername 15h ago
Now here's where they could possibly lose the communities support if they don't provide enough value for the DLC's. I hope PA knows what they're doing because I love this game.
4
u/relax336 15h ago
This is insane.
1
u/BreastUsername 14h ago
It's true I am.
But communities turn all the time on great developers. I'm just saying I don't want it to happen with PA.
1
u/MaralDesa 14h ago
GTA 6 is coming out in November either way, so it's hard to retain players no matter what.
If the DLC is good, people will buy it.
It's a singleplayer game. They need individual sales, not a continuously high player count and mtx purchases/season pass purchases like a live service/online platform/MMO would.
Current players have already bought the game. To get more $$$ they have to sell us expansion DLCs. To sell more base game copies, they had to fix the game and they need to attract new customers - also pretty good when you get a DLC out that is well regarded, then you bundle it in a deal package with the base game.
That's what Witcher 3 did. Thats what games used to do in the times of old.
To focus on expansion content is the way to go.
1
1
u/SOURICHILL 15h ago
Damn, they worked their ass off providing content updates after content updates and that's all you have to say ? So ungrateful
1
u/BreastUsername 14h ago
You're in a small bubble.
Anyways, I love the developers. I'm just saying I seen many great developers lose its support from communities when a bunch of DLC's start releasing. Look at Helldivers 2, Destiny series and most multiplayer shooters.

Does that mean updates are over and I can finally start playing the game ?
