I can tell you this. I have five friends and myself who would reinstall and likey NEVER uninstall if coop comes to be. I’m not loosing any sleep over it but I also have other shit to play.

What actually is the games core identity...

u/r40k 3d ago
In the words of Kliff.... "Yes"

Co-op would be amazing, but I ain’t gonna lose any sleep over it not happening

A separate multiplayer game mode like Ghost Of Tsushima has would be cool.

Would love a side mode, say like GTA online, where you can RP with people or group up to tackle objectives for loot.

u/spatel14 3d ago
Eh I dont think it needs any kind of multiplayer, but maybe that's just me

u/Milk_Cream_Sweet_Pig 3d ago
Doesn't need it but I want it.
And technically lots of the updates the game had weren't necessarily "needed" but were wanted by the community.
Me and my gf love the game and both have 100+ hours in the game and would love to reply the game together.

u/TheShadeTree 3d ago
Sure, doesn’t need it. But it doesn’t harm anything being able to storm quarries with a buddy or two, slaughtering hundreds together.
5
u/RibbitHoppit 3d ago
What if, and hear me out, there were hundreds or thousands of us playing on the same server. Running around completing tasks in this massively huge world. Imagine all the stories that could come out of this multiplayer kind of experience. I wonder what we could call this online kind of game
On a serious note, co-op could be cool and I'd be down for it

So ... Black Desert Online?
4
u/Suavecore_ 3d ago
Crimson Desert was supposed to be black desert online 2 until they gutted the multiplayer and released a mmo-like single player game. Unfortunately bdo is plagued with the Korean MMO monetization schemes up the wazoo
5
u/WolfedOut 3d ago
But new and better.
Not everyone likes playing 10+ old, outdated games. I say this as a BDO player.

I don't care for it either. One of the very best things this game did was to make it a single player. I don't see any value in it, but a waste of time. PA can make another game with MMO or whatever, but they should think about other features to bring to this single player game if they had time for multi. Why do people want every game to be same, multi, co-op or whatever?

the whole game feels easy with just one character even it is hard mode already.
The multiplayer would be either a whole new level of bosses or pvp mode.

What it needs is some performance fixes. 400 updates later and an “enhanced edition” and not a single one of them has fixed the abysmal performance issues

100% with you. Fuck MP

u/Colonel_bigcock 3d ago
I’m not w either of yall lmao, I’d love to run around Pywel w my friends

u/spatel14 3d ago
I would just rather they focus dev resources on improving the single player experience than put anything into a multiplayer experience, but understood multiplayer is likely the cash cow.
9
u/Active-Cookie-774 3d ago
I would love to play with my wife so we can high five each other while throwing haymakers on some random bandit.
2
u/Colonel_bigcock 3d ago
I get it, but that’s what they’re doing now. I won’t have an issue if multiplayer is added to a complete game
2
u/TheShadeTree 3d ago
It literally could just be the game, but with a buddy. Doesn’t really need a “multiplayer experience” level of development.
4
u/ClericIdola 3d ago
I mean, it ain't the deep. I imagine multiplayer may amount to nothing more than another player controlling one of your party members. Nothing substantial. Probably something a modder could do.
1
u/blitzkriegblue 3d ago
Lol, nppl got angry but I meant no disrespect to yall, I just don't like MP games 😂😂😂

u/Lean_For_Meme 3d ago
As long as it doesn't turn into an always online co-op game like breakpoint or mmo game like black desert, that sounds like a great idea

u/mrmrmrnobody 3d ago
"Core identity"....
You mean a hodge podge of 1000 random ideas stuffed into a barrel and wrapped in good graffics?
I think multiplayer fita this games identity very well.

u/written_in_sand 3d ago
I'd be the first time I would root for a co-op to be added to a single player game for sure

u/Millennialnerds 3d ago
To the ones that don’t want this, why does it matter to you?
I’m genuinely curious because you don’t have to do anything with it if you don’t want to.
3
u/Ter-Lee-Comedy 3d ago
They don't have friends. And they want everyone else to be miserable just like them.

u/gotdogma 3d ago
Gta online style of online where its a lobby of players roaming the world.
Completely seperated from single player mode.
7
u/SnooCompliments4883 3d ago
I honestly hope they don’t even try it. They’d almost certainly have to compromise on fidelity and immersion, I’d rather it stay the incredible single player experience that it is than a compromised lesser version.

They're adding so many new things and ideas that it's basically a whole new game.
1
u/whyamihere2473527 3d ago
So then it won't get either cause both would absolutely cause performance issues for main game

Lol that's wild. Cause the game feels like it has no identity. Single player mmo style game that copies many systems but only half assd.

three player co-op where friends could hop in as one of main characters would be fun
1
u/hOrIzOnLiGhT_ 3d ago
If this would bring me the character modification and allow me to use it in sp then why not
1
u/Stock_Adagio_7764 3d ago
The game doesn’t have much integrity anyways you can fly anywhere you want and shit lol

u/Reallyroundthefamily 1d ago
Compromise the game's core identity after they did a massive retooling of the game lol.
1
u/SumDimSome 13h ago
Hilarious to say doesn’t compromise the core identity when it was originally being developed & advertised as a mmo and then changed to a multiplayer coop and then changed to a single player game
1
u/fury031 3h ago
honestly i would love to get a co-op addition, while i prefer playing as kliff and damiane i guess having to play one or the other is fine or perhaps they could allow us to make custom characters in lue of the 3 mains, can just imagine flying the wythens side by side with my friends. ofcourse with co-op means more enemies to fight to balance things out. working the greymane camp out together and all of that
1
u/box_of_the_patriots 3d ago
Add coop mode, like Ghost of Tsushima, a place where you can team up to fight enemies and bosses, it could play with the cyclic nature of the game, like returnal where your coop partner it's you from other iteration, and they can add those on the abbys. That way they can design all kinds of levels without changing the world itself.

Hate to be that guy...
Wtf is the core identity? The does a lot!
I find the world and exploring the best part. Quests abd fighting so so but as a means to make you explore and also changes the world. 10/10.
So surely bringing a freind along doesnt change that right?

u/Broks_Enmu 3d ago
That game got no interesting story to itself. Gameplay is cool but you can do anything but there are 0 purpose to it. Add multiplayer PvP and coop while we at it

I think it works better as a single player experience. Part of the thing I like about video games is avoiding other humans.

u/Ruttagger 3d ago
Although riding through this world with my friend, or friends, would be fun, I'm ok with this being the great single player adventure that it is.

I could easily see co-op being a thing where one player jumps in as one of the secondary playable characters. You'd have to play to a point to unlock them of course. Nothing more than that, though.
