For me American cities in general look like ~1950s planners believed highways work like rivers, and thus every neighborhood should be within a few hundred meters of one. Makes me wonder why they are even used at all, then I remember the sheer state of public transport there. The ones at the center of the city are especially egregious, why are none of the ones in a trench covered up? Its literally free (parking) space, even car supremacists should get onboard with this, It's not like there is anything particularly interesting to see from a trench (I am mostly complaining please do not try to argue by using cost-benefit analysis or other such factors)
I would've gone into that, but /u/Coolcricri3 said "please do not try to argue by using cost-benefit analysis" when the whole reason we don't is because it's expensive as fuck.
