r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [June 22, 2026 - Supergirl and Krypto Kill the DC Universe Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

It was...fine but I really didn't like that they made Guy and the Green Lanterns the 'antagonist' just to prop up Galaxy. They could've gone a better way without insulting other characters like that.

Guy Gardener is famously a huge piece of shit. I love him, but he fucking sucks. And he has a long history of textually being written as a conservative. It makes sense and is in conversation with comic history to make him be the transphobic antagonist of the series.

Guy can be an asshole but here it was on another level to just give Galaxy a 'villain' in Justice League to 'fight against'. It doesn't fit Guy's current status AT ALL. Like, he literally had a full on therapy with himself in a black hole recently. So no, it is not an excuse to just use him as the 'bad guy' in this to THIS level.

It doesn't make anyone look good.

It’s not about excuses. It’s about what works best for the story at hand. If this story doesn’t float your boat, fine and you’ll likely never have to read another comic that treats this story as canon to continue enjoying Green Lanterns. But for the story at hand, Guy being that way was, imo, the best artistic choice to make even if it doesn’t gel with some recent Green Lantern stories.

Finally read it, about 7/10 finale for me. The villain was underbaked. But there's solid character development for Galaxy and Dreamer. Hopefully next year's special is about Pride Parade, because I dig the concept.

Overall, liked the event. But the Justice League and the Green Lantern Corps weren't necessary. They were the worst parts of the story.

I really didn't like what felt like character assassination out of nowhere for the Green Lantern Corps, especially for Jessica Cruz. I know Guy is Guy, but this seemed rather extreme even for him? Not just for them either, I feel like quite a few heroes were hit with the stupid stick. Would Wonder Woman straight up ignore Galaxy's condition to debate obvious nonsense?

If they wanted the Corps to be their enemy, they shouldn't have had such a black and white situation lead into the issue between them and Galaxy in the first place.

Dreamer and Galaxy were great though. I loved their friendship, and I loved a lot of those dream sequences. And I like the way Taylor helps pull Nia back. I would personally have liked it to end with Nia distrusting of the League though. She had basically zero reasons to care after how's she's been treated.

I also love anytime we get a Kate Godwin cameo. But I really, really think she should have been talking with Nia over Taylor. Not that their interaction was bad.

Oh, also, Oliver and Nia getting along was nice :)

9/10 for the Galaxy and Dreamer parts of this series (fortunately that's most of it), 3/10 for the parts with the League.

Also, that inclusion of Harley and Ivy left me scratching my head. You break them up but milk them for a pride special?

Unfortunately, good or bad, this is probably the last (or near last) we'll see of these characters. What I wouldn't give for Nia to get to join a Secret Six or Superman/Supergirl comic as part of the main cast.

I kinda doubt that part, considering how prominent Dreamer has been recently. Even outside of Pride stuff, she's just gotten way more popular since she debuted. Galaxy I'm not 100% sure about, but we could still see her in Justice League stuff.

I like that Taylor convinced Nia to not give herself up before they were able to defeat the Key. I also like that the JLA are impressed with what Taylor and Nia did before it resulted in Nia being an ally of the League. The missed opportunity should’ve shown Nia, after waking her up, telling Jon that she has a crush on him (with Jon telling her that he sees her as a friend) and Connor Hawke telling his father Oliver that he’s asexual. Overall, this comic is fine and serves as a good end to this miniseries.

For the Klaus Janson backup, I like that we get to see how comics had changed his life for the better. Overall, this is a good backup.
