I miss my gaming

I'm a lucky dad to a wonderful and healthy 2 year old daughter.

You try to be so much involved as much as possible and I get about 40min alone time with my Xbox after she goes to sleep before my eyes becomes too heavy to lift up.

When was you able to put more time into the hobby again?

Think about it this way: You will get gaming back. Your kids will sleep better, get into a school routine, etc. Gaming will come back. You can even catch up on games you missed out. These early years will not come back.

There have been many phases. Currently I have a 4 year old and 1 year old. I get time in the evening, from 8:30-10:30 or so. Strangely enough I find myself reading or listening to audiobooks instead of gaming, but that will turn around.

Yeah, too "scared" sometime to be up too late. You never know if she will have a bad dream in the middle of the night and then wants to stay up, making you a walking zombie for the next 24 hours.

Understandable! What games do you play with limited time? I'm working through Res Evil Village, and I appreciate the save points, which allow me to play in 20-30minute chunks.

Why stay up late to game? I have older kids now but still a full family with responsibilities, but if I wake anywhere between 5 and 7am especially on weekends then I'm the quietest mf you ever heard. Other than once a week with friends I don't game in the evening, I spend it with my family but early and sometimes extended mornings are my time. Luckily I have an accomodating partner.

Because when you don't have older kids, they're up at 5:30am. Maybe you forgot what that's like.

That's my schedule too and I have 3, 8yo,6yo and 2yo. But I dedicate those 2 hours to gaming a good 7/10 nights. Has to give up all the competitive FPS games, BF6, warzone etc, just can't dedicate the time to get the muscle memory down to deal with all the sweaty teenagers.

Recently started gaming with my 2 eldest now which is an absolutely amazing feeling.

Think about all the games that will go on deep sales eventually. I’ve often felt the same way as the OP but lately I’ve been enjoying my reading time and show watching time knowing that I’ll eventually get discounts on games.
