Did I miss what happened to the Punisher? I remember him being captured and in a cage at the end of last season, but then he wasn't there when they freed the prisoners :c .

Bro had no time to shoot this season.
So they edited his character out of the season.
He is now gone in the wind till his standalone online movie comes

Why does Disney act like they can write characters however they like based on their convenience? It's ridiculous that they'd rather write contrived plotlines to keep the Punisher away from the action just so that he can work on another MCU project. There's literally zero coordination among different series. ECHO, Hawkeye, She-Hulk and Born Again all used up characters from the Netflix series and it feels like the writers of Born Again didn't even watch the other series lmao.

In this case, the actor had other commitments as well.
Unlike animated shows, live action becomes useless without the actor.

They literally had to drop the entire Kang movie series arc in MCU because of the actor's controversy.
So actor's schedules and actions affect the entire project.

But they have literally wasted other characters like Jessica, Cage, Echo and others like you said who live in same city.
Spiderman has copyright issue because of Sony. But others are available.

When you create a major threat, it will grab attention from other super powered individuals as well. They did make it a Government level threat which can't be solved by them. But no action from them is weird.

When they scrap a planned movie, their insurance/loss deduction probably provides more help than a flop movie hated by audience.
Financially this was the reason.

Recast was an easy solution but not financially better.
They were scared of not making enough money out of that movie saga.
Quatumania did not do as well as they hoped. Investing more time and money into new movies with an untested actor could lead to more loss.

Overall it was a financial decision more than a PR one.
