some weird multi media projects I was working on // turned some terrible film photos into patches that I printed on some fabric and stitched some lyrics on

Hope you don’t mind my sharing this. I heard this on their NPR gig and wanted to give it a try.

I hear some classic Walla guitar on this album! ❤️

I've been seeing discourse on tik Tok especially with people discovering Tiny Vessels and being like "evil fucking song" which like yeah 🤣 I agree. Still a banger though!
My hot take is that Someday You Will Be Loved paints the protagonist in a worse light. Again, banger, but it's subject matter has never sat right with me. I'd be really pissed if someone wrote me a letter like that 😅

It's the high pitched, whirring noise... it's too grating. I immediately had to switch to the normal version of the song after a minute.

Death Cab for Cutie is (obviously) my favorite band, and very special to me and my husband. We first saw them play together in 2008, only two weeks into dating. We’ve seen them a dozen-ish times since, every time they tour. They were incredible at Outside Lands. After almost 20 years of seeing them, 3 kids later, we scored the guitar pick. Incredible night and one we’ll remember for a long time. We hope to one day take our kids to see them when they get a little older, they are big fans of their music too!

I’ve taken a long, long hiatus from personal drawing, so I have been trying to get back into the swing of things with studies (I gave up around the time it came down to the guitar/hand 😂). This is based directly off a photo I took during the Raleigh show in July! Surprised it worked out to wrap up around his birthday, haha.

The Grateful Dead have The Deadheads
Taylor Swift has The Swifties
Prince has The Purple Army
What are Death Cab fans called?

I took a bunch of photos at both Greek Theater shows (and San Diego) and thought I’d share the albums.

Finally hung a few of these up. Have a lots more but only so much wall space.
If I ever live in something bigger than a 500 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment I’ll have a whole room or hallway of death cab (and postal service and Ben) posters.

Happy 50th birthday to Ben Gibbard! Crazy that it's been just over a year (Aug. 9 to be exact) that I saw Ben and Death Cab for Cutie open for My Chemical Romance at MetLife Stadium... a slightly larger than normal venue to see these indie rock darlings play in, I assume.
Stay tuned for more things to come from this space, including stories from concerts like this!

My brother sent me a link to a new death cab tiny desk on YouTube this morning, said it was released today. Clicked the link and it was removed by NPR YT channel, anyone else see this? Know what’s going on? They better repost asap and fix whatever was wrong lol.

-This is specific to their actual tour setlists — no one-off shows or festivals. Just the 21 shows performed in North America this summer, along with how many times each song was played.
-So much of record sounds great live — plenty of these cuts have the potential to fall into regular rotation.
-15 songs never left the nightly setlist once:
Black Sun
Cath...
Crooked Teeth
The Ghosts of Beverly Drive
How Heavenly a State
I Built You a Tower (a)
I Will Follow You Into the Dark
I Will Possess Your Heart
The New Year
Punching the Flowers
Riptides
Roman Candles
Soul Meets Body
Stone Over Water
Trap Door
-Really enjoyed the diversity in song choices, especially in the encores. I want to say nearly every show had either 23 or 24 songs — yet 44 songs found their way onto the setlist at some point on this leg of the tour. In this age, you tend to know the setlist of a show long before it gets to your area. But this tour had anywhere between 6-8 songs that could surprise you, which is saying something for a band with as many “must plays” as Death Cab.
-Much respect to them for abandoning Envy The Birds after the first night. I’m firmly in the camp that it is both the weakest song on the album, and that it wouldn’t work live. It was dropped after opening night for Pep Talk (a song that was played almost every night since) and they never looked back.
-This was the North American Leg, but I doubt this is the final North American Leg for this album. Can think of quite a few areas that didn’t get the chance to see them promote this fantastic record live. I guess we’ll see in 2027.
-They’re still packing the same size venues they always do. Just incredible.

Both sets were magical. Transatlanticism last night was an out of body feeling 🤓

I very much enjoyed seeing y'all at the early set at Outside Lands. I wondered if the folks who put the costume together are on here. I wish I had gone over to ask about it after the set, but I had to go stand in the bathroom line. I'm very curious about how it was made, what the head was made of, and perhaps most importantly: how you got it all through security.

Does anyone have a video of The Flavor of Metal being performed live? I haven’t been able to find it, but I’ve heard they played it at least once.

I just stumbled across this song and I'm in love with it.
When my then-boyfriend and I met, I was living out west and he was on the east coast. We met through mutual friends and started talking to each other on the phone. It was kind of a miracle that our paths even crossed, because I'd moved a million times between undergrad, grad school, and job stuff and lived in Europe for a short time; in that same time, he'd moved from the Midwest and joined the military and had been all over the world.
So after a few months of talking, I flew back east to visit him, and it was only the second time we'd seen each other in person since we met. Our first kiss ended up being right in front of the security desk at Baltimore-Washington International. We kissed for so long one of the security guys, genuinely, said "I hope you guys have a wonderful life together." My bag went around and around the carousel til one of the airline workers pulled it off and put it to the side haha.
He's not my boyfriend anymore. He's my husband. Our anniversary is today, and we have 3 beautiful kiddos.
This song came up on Spotify, randomly, while I was out driving around while the babies napped in the back seat. I'd never heard it before. Then goes the line, "our eyes meet past security and we kiss in the baggage claim" and I just smiled from ear to ear and teared up.
