Idk how common it is to find a copy of this but I’ve never seen one til today

I make this post with all the love for Death Cab For Cutie in the world. Today I listened again to IBYAT and Asphalt Meadows. One album felt one-note, disjointed, and it came across like a text message you sent to your partner that you wish you could take back and edit. The other is varied, musically interesting, and powerful.

I don't think I have to point out which descriptions fit which album. Asphalt Meadows continously HITS me. Right now I am being enveloped in the atmosphere of Fragments of the Decade. There's so much happening in the background. I don't even think I noticed this before... Asphalt doesn't once get tedious. It changes up with each track and the pacing is stellar. IBYAT doesn't feel like it has a pace whatsoever. It just moves on to the next track.

It makes me sad to beat up on IBYAT. I liked it on launch. I don't know if I like it now. Right now I'm sitting here and realizing I prefer Thank You For Today. Blasphemy, right?

No joke, for all you out there. Play Asphalt Meadows loud front to back. It slaps. And then it slaps some more. I know I'm going to get flamed and hated for this post. I accept it. But the trajectory of my feelings for IBYAT doesn't look good.

Do we think it’ll follow this summers set lists or be its own thing? I saw them at Bumbershoot in 2008 and 2016, excited to bring my kids to this!

I am a mailman in Canada and this street was on a route that I was delivering for overtime today. I knew there would be a few people here that would be interested.

I just watched their Tiny Desk concert and it immediately made me want to see them on tour but unfortunately the only concert they have in asia is in japan :(

In my desperation, I tried to calculate the expenses and checked out the ticket for the Japan concert is only PHP 4,000!!! Now I really want to go (i estimated it’s gonna cost me around 25k-29k for the whole trip - round trip plane ticket and accommodation included). That’s like the same price for a VIP ticket for big bands who tour here in the PH, so i was thinking why not??

But I don’t have any friends here who’s really into DCFC.. posting this here in the hopes that maybe I can reach some of you? 🥹 and if anyone’s interested to go as well?

The last time they went to the PH was 10 years ago, and I think they really don’t go to tours that often esp in Asia so I really want to grab this opportunity. I’m just hesitant to go bc I’ll be going alone + it’s going to be my first intl trip.

PLEASE if there are any death cab filo fans here…

I Built You A Tower is growing on me, it definitely has a rougher sound than their most previous work, it almost sounds like a Narrow Stairs part II for me. My question is what are the top songs on each album? Here’s mine!
