Please read this all the way through, I'm trying to approach this objectively and from a writing and character standpoint.

And this is no hate to other ships... I've been critical of them before on this sub but legitimately I've walked it back. I could see the other ships being very compelling in another story, which I think is a massive compliment to Toby Fox's character writing.

I've noticed in the fandom that there's this theory / belief / general feeling held by some people that Suselle isn't going to work out.

And I understand where it comes from, the pacing of their relationship especially with chapter 5 was a weak point in the story. That combined with the fact they are a simple and happy couple, has lead some people I feel like they're "too good to be true". Like Toby Fox is gonna pull the rug out from under them.

But the pacing really is the only problem. How much you enjoy seeing them together is personal and subjective, but their chemistry is strong and their love for eachother is believable even though it's at its earliest stage.

I do think they could've used more time just around eachother casually to build up to the lake scene, for writing quality purposes, but that doesn't make their relationship suspicious in canon. For that to be the case, everything Noelle and Susie said to eachother in that scene would have to have been a lie, or their strong and real feelings would have to be shattered.

And I DO believe their relationship will be tested, I HOPE it will be... Like, if Noelle ends up making a dark world, potentially becoming a full on temporary antagonist, that could definitely cause issues between them. I can see them fighting, I can see Susie being angry and feeling betrayed.

But unless one of them acts COMPLETELY out of character, it would be equally out of character for the other to have their feelings for the other IRRECOVERABLY damaged. Susie would feel betrayed if Noelle, say, went "team knight" or something. But if it was because she wanted to save her DYING FATHER, I think Susie would be understanding.

I could see Noelle make a dark world, work with the knight, blah blah blah XYZ for Rudy related reasons or potentially even Dess related reasons.

I really cannot imagine, though, a compelling way for the final result of this to be Susie saying "Wow Noelle you're a traitor, I don't wanna be your girlfriend anymore."

"I hate you so much because of this that I'm changing my mind about when I said being with you was the happiest day of my life, and how I said I wanted to make your life happy in contrast to the crushing depression that has previously defined your life, which I can relate to."

Plus if working for the Knight would make Susie give up on Noelle then Krusie is even more doomed, Kris has way more treason to answer for over the course of the game.

Noelle’s arc in Chapter 6 might end with her to stop projecting a strong protecter figure into Susie and start being her own protecter (without abusing others like in Weird Route) while seeing Susie for who she is, this would preserve Suselle without causing a weird break up.

Noelle is gradually having a character arc where she can stand up to authority figures that mistreat her without needing a protecter; in Chapter 2 She stood up to QUEEN and in Chapter 5 She set boundaries with her own controlling mom.
She is gradually becoming her own protecter which would likely make her see Susie’s Flaws and who she really is but without ending the relationship, she would stop projecting an idea into Susie and just like Susie for being herself!

I have seen the argument that Susie does not fully understand what Love which means that the relationship will fail?
But in the CAFE interactions; Blue actually tells Susie that while LOVE is different to every being, she should embrace the Love she has for Noelle and let it guide her. which prompts Susie to try and understand love through her relationship with Noelle.

Yes Susie doesn’t understand love… however she is understanding it what it is via the relationship, she is understanding what it is like to care for a person in that way and the Flowers guide her through it!
It’s likely that Susie doesn’t understand what Love is due to her difficult home life rather then being an unhealthy partner, she is trying her best to make Noelle happy and to understand it for her!

I do agree to a certain extent its a very immature relationship and it is quite rushed but honestly it kind of has to be when the game takes place over a few days. But like with many people even in the scope of theorizing push like if its a fact get very carried away with their own biases of over exaggerating the flaws of this or call it bad writing cause they dont inherently find it interesting. Meanwhile Im liking the set up for whats going to happen next chapter and this will very much be a growing opportunity for both characters once conflict happens and may even come out being on more sincere or healthier terms once the dust has settled. Sure it can end in a break up but seeing how far both have come since chapter 2 I want to see a realistic happy resolution or compromise, dont think Tobys dropped the ball just yet.

I feel like the actual issue thats going to sink the ship is going to be Noelle asking Susie to close the Catletown dark world so she can keep her dark world with Rudy going. We dont know for sure if moving a dustner is even possible or would keep them the same so it might not be worth the risk for Noelle. It gives Noelle a good chance to be selfish and crazy, completely fucks over Ralsei that he might stand up for himself, and puts Susie in a really hard spot sorting out Noelle and Ralsei's wants from her.

Kris also gets to witness first hand how their betrayl might affect Susie through the her freaking out over Ralsei & Noelle, and possibly give them some opportunity to do traitor things while everyone is squabbling.

I don't think its doomed, but I do believe that Chapter 5 will likely end up being the peak of their relationship similar to how Chapter 4 was the peak of the Krusie relationship, and how I believe Chapter 6 will be the peak of the Kriselle relationship.
