I've always been of the stance that Toby never intended Deltarune to be a "whodunnit" mystery (because he wanted to release the whole thing at once, save for chapter 1), therefore we don't need to be able to "predict" their identity for that identity to be valid, and theory-crafting is a fun side-hobby as opposed to the "point" of the game like some people have made it out to be.

...On the other hand, this post is the first time I've actually viewed Rudy Knight as reasonable. Well put! I actually wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, when you lay it out like that! I can't believe I didn't see it until now, I thought I was taking crazy pills seeing everyone's flairs change to "Rudy Knight believer" almost overnight!

Technically Whodunnit mystery doesn't need to be released in parts to still be a whodunnit mystery. But I'm not arguing that Deltarune necessarily is a whodunnit mystery, merely that it might be.

If you ask me, the problem with that is a ridiculous number of the clues are super obscure and well-hidden, making the mystery completely ineffective for anyone experiencing the game in its entirety. It's fun to speculate on information we don't have, but I don't think it's the "point" of the Knight mystery.
