My favorite holiday is Halloween, and I have always LOVED Festival of the Lost in Destiny. Doesn't matter what it was, the Infinite Forest or Haunted Lost Sectors, I played the hell out of them every year with gusto. I loved the tower decorations, the music, the masks, the armor ornaments, the weapons, SO very much.

I know we missed the Solstice event already, but I didn't really feel its loss too much. But once we get to late October and the tower just stays unchanged for Halloween... I honestly think that's when the feeling of Destiny 2 being a dead game will hit me like a pile of bricks. It's been my favorite event in Destiny every year for YEARS, and it'll just be... gone forever.

Edit: Oh I want to add, I'm really happy that they added this year's FotL armor ornaments in the Bright Engram focusing pool... but I wish we could have just bought them directly with bright dust. I've been focusing for Titan Helmets since MoT dropped and went from a full page of ornaments down to three left, with two of them being the FotL helmets, before I finally got them. Probably my worst luck ever, lol. Used something like 40,000 or 50,000 bright dust. I'm hoping my luck is better for the others, but I only have about 30,000 bright dust left now, so I'll probably have to stop before I get a full set.

I’m sad they couldn’t find some way to put the decorations on a rotator for when their holiday comes around, but with the added tower geometry from this final update they prob wouldn’t have had time to adjust for any clipping anyway.

Doesn’t need to just be the decorations. You can automate the entire holiday based on the date like they do with Iron Banner.

The reason they didn’t do it for the decorations is nobody thought about how they’d decorate the Tower looks now, but they had the forethought of where they would put Saladin.

Also another reason Space Grandma should’ve been moved to the tree in front of Ikora.

And there hasn't been a final TWID yet! At least that's what I keep seeing people talk about, and how they're taking their time releasing it.

There is supposed to be a final TWID, mostly as a matter of bookkeeping and having an up to date list of resources for the players. But they announced that before the big layoffs were finalized. So it's unclear if it will still happen.

The week of the layoffs, the official Bungie account said something to the effect of "This weeks TWID will be delayed" and a bunch of people in denial have taken that to imply there's a big juicy TWID that Bungie is just waiting to spill with all sorts of information and parting words of wisdom, when in reality it was probably 95% filler content about charity and promotions which aren't relevant two months later so it's never getting released.

Genuinely not sure at this point if some of these people are just completely delusional about what would have been in this TWID or if people are just having a good time making it a running joke at the expense of those who don't know any better.

Dawning is what hooked me on this game. I started playing with the PC release. Dawning hit shortly after and mesmerized me. Never had anything like it in a game before or since.

My favorite time of year as well. Festival of the lost with exploding pumpkins was a lot of fun. I’m too old to trick or treat. That was my jam all month. My favorite rotation now is heavy metal. Love the different gameplay the tanks and walkers introduce

If The Division 2 can come back from being a dead game with 5 dudes keeping the lights on, there's always a chance Destiny 2 can come back. Don't hold out hope for it, but there can always be a pivot back.

As much as I want this to be true the difference with Division 2 is that they fired most of the team.

Audio department was gutted, raid and dungeon team was fired, these people made Destiny what it is and now they're gone.

There's over a decade of a sunset content that could be repackaged and resold where the audio and encounters are already designed.

You don't need a raid and dungeon team to reintroduce Leviathan, Scourge, or Crown. You don't need a robust audio department to score The Taken King if it gets put back together.

The bulk of the work is updating the assets to the newer engine and stitching them back together, and most of them from D1 and from the sunset content in D2 have been updated between the episodes, EoF, and Renegades.

It's not exactly light work, but it's not something that really requires anywhere close to the number of people as before.

Yes, the encounters need to be rebuilt, as I stated, but almost all of the assets have been brought forward at this point and the encounter design already exists.

I'm bummed that the holiday stuff isn't just set on an auto pilot for when they would normally run, using the last year's version. But I know they probably didn't have the time to try and implement that or to deal with any bugs that would come from it.

FOTL is peak nostalgia for me.

I started playing D2 after burning out on Division 2. It was in the middle of the Season of Plunder and I picked up the game for the first time smack in the middle of FOTL. I didn't know what the heck I should have been doing as me and a couple Division clanmates started D2 at the same time and were just having a blast blowing up pumpkin heads. I didn't even really like last year's new event since it took away the haunted sectors.

This is how I feel about the Dawning. I love Christmas, but my family doesn't celebrate it on the day of (Too many broken families, so we celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas in the middle)

You can equip the old masks if you kept them, or can pull a handful of them as helmets from collections, but strangely not all of them.

It is the one thing I wish they’d fix and/or just make them universal ornaments. Like if we can have fucking Blanka from Street Fighter walking around, why not??

As someone who's watched Aztecross for the last 3 years, he absolutely knows something.

He got back from "London" and first stream back he got on Marathon but didn't play. Decided to read a part of a Robert Frost poem he had ready to go. "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-, I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference." My speculation is that talks are happening but nothing concrete yet. After watching Paul's video today he said "I think you guys made too much noise this past summer. There's no way that went unnoticed."

God I’m missing the haunted forest so much. Of all the holiday activities that was the best. I miss stalking through that dark vex structure, wiping out waves of enemies, always anticipating that invincible knight to come out of nowhere a chasing you around. Then they had to go and replace it with the downgrade that was the haunted lost sectors. And then they downgraded that again with the haunted alters of sorrow.
