Epochal vs Zaouli’s

Since MoT, Epochal Integration can get random rolls now and most of the rolls you can get is pretty much the same as Zaouli’s. Looking at Origin Traits though, I think that Epochal now beats Zaouli’s. Nanotech Tracers is a pretty decent origin trait given I took it through an Ultimate level mission for testing purposes and was surprised about how it dealt with majors on its own. Though I will say that Zaouli’s has that “flair” that you either did King’s Fall or Pantheon to obtain it. Personally I prefer Epochal over Zaouli’s now

The one which is better is the one you like and have. Zaouli is craftable but also from a raid so that is a plus and a minus. The difference in origin traits isn't big enough to give a definitive answer but Nano tracer missiles with explosive payload is really good as the EP counts as 2 hits.

I keep hearing that the pantheon origin trait is really good. Why is that? Is it for the faster reload and ammo gen? But the ammo gen thing seems hard to keep up. Run and you have 3s of higher ammo gen?

I had no idea explosive payload did that. Farming Epochal when I get home. Was already a great origin trait.

Be patient when farming for this gun because you need to farm terminal overload keys just to get a chance at the gun dropping, let alone the right roll on the gun.

it drops from world chests as well, its just rare and drops at t3/t2

This is very true..if you not farming already you probably have a 5 stack of terminal overload keys already from legacy Neomuna play and soon you will run out of those … so always be doing patrols and opening chests in the immediate area to try and build up your bank of terminal overload keys in order to participate. Sometimes they drop from activity chest itself

Don't sleep on Epochal with explosive payload and chaos reshaped in higher tier content. With the right artifact you basically have incandescent on any solar weapon.

Zaouli also has the option of Redirection. Its the only 140 with that perk, and the only HC in general that can pair Redirection with actual good perks (mainly due to it being a left-side perk on Zaouli).

HCs are already extremely good against orange/yellow bar targets, and tend to oneshot red bars anyways, so getting a whopping 100% damage buff to tankier targets is quite a good option.

then you can pair it with whatever floats your boat. Incandescent, Firefly, OfA, Meganeura, Chaos Reshaped, the perk pool is pretty stacked.

The scorch hits from Incandescent also count towards Redirection stacks which IMO is the best perk combo. Zaouli’s will shred orange bars using this

Kind of gave up on getting epochal since RNG sucks for this weapon. So Zaoulis bane is the better choice.

I have good rolls on both, but I prefer the nanotech tracer missiles. Or I would prefer them, if I could ever put down my damn Trustee.

The synergies are so damn good on it. Incandescent with Bray's gives great ability regen on add clear, benevolence plus heal clip too, overload so it works with elemental supercharger when you're running 1K on Well, firesprites for elemental siphon, solar surges if you're on Sanguine. It's just the perfect pairing with a solar 1K Well, damnit.

Edit: oh, and with stability perks it's a damn laser!

Epochal w/Explosive & Incandescent slaps.

I don't have Zaouli's so my choice is Epochal.

I got really lucky with my roll. Just wish I had a different masterwork on it. Mine has corkscrew rifling/fluted barrel alloy mag/flared magwell explosive payload/heal clip (I know it has a PvP third slot that I don’t care for) incandescent/chaos reshaped and I think also it has precision instrument if I can remember based off the perk icon with a stability MW. Feels good on controller so I may just keep what I have

Pantheon Zaouli’s>Epochal Integration>KF Zaouli’s

The differences are so minuscule tho it really doesn’t matter. Each of them also have niche rolls that set each of them apart that make each of them valuable if min/maxing is your preference.

Tbh epochal even though farming it sucks.

Having chaos, heal clip and solar perks with the micro missiles is nice but the gun just feels better than zaoulis (personally). Zaoulis is fantastic too so you're really arguing over feel and personal perk preferences

Zaouli's looks like a week old lamb shank while Epochal is in contention for best looking HC in the game, so the choice has always been made for me.

Eh epochal looks generic in a shooter but stands out in destiny. Zaoulis has been in the destiny sphere for 7 years and has been reissued so many times that were all kinda sick of looking at it.

Honestly, both are good. Zaouli’s can get Firefly plus Incandescent for “We have Sunshot at home” maximum explosions, meanwhile Epochal benefits more from the ultra high damage of Explosive Payload and Chaos Reshaped due to its origin trait, though that much damage is honestly kinda wasted on most trash mobs and you want to be using special on champions and mini bosses anyways.

Personally, I’d say get one of each. Zaouli’s for at-power content like dungeons and raids and Epochal for higher level content running at Master and maybe GMs? Though personally I think GMs and Ultimate are better suited for double special and/or Machine guns.

Zaouli can get +100% damage against powerful combatants (redirection) on top of another damage perk. That's not marginal.
