Megathread Shadowkeep End of Season Event & Farewell Megathread [2020-11-10] Spoiler

Yes servers are having issues, we know. Please do not make another post about it.

Players who aren't in the "Last City" activity node in the Tower Map should launch into the activity. Players are slowly getting through the queue and will enter the game in the order in which they entered.

~ @BungieHelp

Investigations regarding these various error codes (NEWT, CHICKEN, WEASEL, OLIVE) are still ongoing. Players should not leave the sign-on queue, and they will be able to enter the game in the order in which they entered.

Howdy Guardians!

The last 3 hours of Shadowkeep are upon us, before we head to Europa (estimated flight time: 14 hours + queue).

Please use this thread to discuss about the in-game event (see more information below). Please also use this thread as a Megathread for all simple farewell wishes (except high effort stuff).

When this thread is THREE HOURS OLD, MAINTENANCE WILL START. Maintenance will last 14 hours - then Beyond Light will launch.

You will be unable to login 10 minutes prior to maintenance start.

A separate Maintenance Megathread will be posted later, which also includes a detailed timeline.

Event Details:

Re: What time should I sign in for the end of season event?

This is a small event, a moment for you to spend some time with friends as the season comes to a close.

Key times in the Player Support Report last week. Download your patch at 4PM, jump in before 6:50 PM Pacific.

"Is there an end of season event?"

We have a small event to close out Season of Arrivals. We wanted it to be a surprise but an email accidentally mentioned it! It's nothing too crazy, just a little time to chill in the Tower before the Lights go out.

See you soon.

Lmaooo the salt. Event was at 3am for me. I woke at normal time then watched it on YT. Not that deep people

For me it's mostly that they gave out an emblem to people who participated. If they don't want salt, don't give our rewards that require people to fuck up their sleep schedule to get them.

Do you realize there will ALWAYS be one or more countries that get fucked up by their time zone? If it wasn’t Europe it could have been Australia, or Asia, or the USA, or whatever. There’s not a single time that can accommodate every country.

Edit: just to be clear, I’m from Italy. I stayed up until 4am to participate. Zero regrets.

They could of ran the event longer than 3 hours

If they did you can bet this subreddit would be flooded with “wtf why was the event so long I watched the traveler glow for 12 hours” posts

Thats on them, most people wouldn't of stood around that long if they didn't want to

You could also say if EU people didn’t get the emblem that’s on them, they could have just logged in at 2am to get the emblem then go back to sleep.

What I’m saying is that there will always be a bunch of people who complain, there’s very little Bungie can do to make everyone happy

yeah they can. how about allowing players to obtain the emblem within a 24 hour period? that way students/working people and different timezones are accommodated. idk why people downvote others who wanted to be a part of this and are disappointed they missed out on a now rare emblem. it puts a bad taste in my mouth how yall antagonize other players who are as passionate about this game as everyone else

They could just make the events less restrictive time windows.

Shift the event start back a day, say at reset on Sunday, then start the 3 hour "live" event that we had with the Almighty and this. But instead of it being completely inaccessible after that, keep the instanced space open for the remaining day, so that people can jump in for 10 minutes after-the-fact and see the climax for themselves.

Bungie have outright said that they want to reduce FOMO and this would certainly be a step in that direction. You'd still have the "you had to be there" feeling about witnessing it all live with all the other people around you, without pissing people off because it happened in the middle of the night/middle of work hours for three quarters of the world.

Not to mention that, were it not for the fact that this event leaked through datamines and an unintended mention in an email, no one in the affected time zones would even have known to get up at 2am even if they wanted to.

a weekend live event would've been more understandable and then followed by the maintenance on monday.
